5 Phrases That Will Change Your Family’s Legacy Forever

Family coach Ambereen Hameed shares five phrases that shape lasting legacy: "I am proud of you," "May I help you?," "I love you," "Thank you," and "We." She argues legacy comes from presence and calm parenting, not material gifts, and illustrates this through her son's growth into a self-starter chef.

Now, we're going to dive into some really tough topics today. But I really want this to be like a small workshop for you. So if you're ready, comment down below and say ready. Let's go, shall we? Super pumped up today to serve you and bring you the most valuable conversations that we as parents. As husbands and wives need to truly have. Legacy. I told you, it's kind of one of those things that evolve. Imagine in this very moment, what we know to be true is when a father is calm, teaches your sons, your daughters, and even you as his wife, that that's the stage that you set for the energy of your home. Every single moment that we as parents are reactive, we're actually causing a detriment to our kids that they later need to heal from. You feel me? You get it because you've been there. You've been that child who's had to heal so much from the traumas that your parents actually somehow passed down to you. Not intentionally, because you and I both know, as a parent, you want to give your kids the best. Creating a legacy doesn't really mean giving them the best. What they're looking for isn't the materialistic things, right? The phones, the screens, the clothes, the shoes, all that stuff that we're running after in this world nowadays. It's truly this essence of being fully present with them. Presence is a present. Do you feel me? Does that resonate? If it does, comment down below and say, presence is a present. It's a gift that we get to give our kids. And the more gifts like these that we give to our kids, the greater of a legacy that we get to create. I was astonished and dumbfounded as I went to visit my son for his culinary program. And one of the chefs there literally came up to me and said, hey, are you so-and-so's mom? I said, yeah. He goes, your kid, I mean, wow, he's a self-starter. He's a great leader. He finished the work before time. Then he came and asked me, what can I do more of? And he's showing up here today to serve all of you parents by cooking for you, making small things, helping out his team. And I saw this evolution of my own son. Now, before a year and a half, 2 years ago, if you told me that would have been my son, I would have said, Not in a million years. But here we are creating those small pockets to be fully present with our kids, to build the legacy that we all desire. But legacy, destiny is built on your character. As a husband or as a wife, are you showing up with respect for your marriage? Are you showing up with kindness even when you don't feel like they deserve it? Are you showing up with forgiveness for each other so your kids see what a healthy marriage, what a healthy relationship looks like? Because you are their number one impact. You are the leader of their home. They learn every single thing from you. These little people who keep growing, right? I call them like little growing people, little big people. They're watching you. And that's what coaching will teach you. It'll teach you how to role model the way so you can be a conscious, intentional leader of your home. Now, you spend a lot of work in your corporate life, don't you, to make sure that you can level up, you can learn new skills, that you can become better, you can get more accolades, get the status, get the pay, get the promotion. You're doing it all for the outside world. Here is a piece of advice I really want every single one of you to take down, okay? These are 5 things I think are really important for you and I to remember as husbands, as wives, as moms and dads. The first phrase I really want you to remember and think about is, I am proud of you. Say that to your wife often, say that to your husband often, Say it to your kiddo often. Okay? I am proud of you. The next one is just 4 words. Okay? And that is, may I help you? Ask them if you want— if they want your help. Don't interject yourself into them. Ask them, may I help you? The third one. Yep. This one you guys all get right in creating that legacy. I love you. Say it as much as you can. Then we have thank you, or what I like to call appreciate you. This last one here, that one word that's truly left, which is one of the most profound things that I really want us to understand when we're talking about creating a legacy, is this word we. We. The more we we have, The more influence you create, the more powerful you'll become, the greater leader that you'll become, the more intentional that you become, the more generous, kind, loving, compassionate you become, banking on all those gifts we talked about as presents. Now, if all of this sounds like a remarkable way of operating as a family, I really want you to take a chance on yourself. I've got a few spots that are open for an exploration call.
