A short YouTube reflection by Coach Ambereen about challenges in an adolescent/youth coaching program, focusing on participants arriving late. The coach reframes lateness away from taking it personally, asks participants to reconnect with their "why," introduces accountability through intention-setting and personalized triggers/timers, and issues a call-to-action for viewers to adopt one life-changing habit and share it in the comments.
Congruent day to you. I hope today is filled with serendipity.
And just harmonious moments as you go about your day. For my reflection today, as we finished up the youth coaching or the adolescent coach coaching program, I actually have a lot to share. So I'm going to try to make a few clips which really dissect and go into the challenges that we faced. One of the biggest ones was that a lot of the members were not showing up on time. So instead of taking it personally, I asked what a good coach should do, which is, you know, kind of putting the accountability back on them. And it was as simple as, oh, I overslept, oh, I actually totally forgot or something. Like, I really don't even remember what happened. I was actually going to do some other tasks and then I recalled that I have coaching and then I hopped on a little late.
So by the time that we had.
The whole crew together, we're about eight to nine minutes into actual coaching. And I had everybody set their intentions and then we all paused and really spoke about what's going on to be more accountable. And I asked them, why did you want to start coaching and why are you here? And that why is so important. You know, Simon Sinek talks about the golden circle and how the why is key of really knowing what it is that our intention is for doing something and just reminding them that why I think gave them more clarity as to the need to be more consistent, especially with being on time.
Then we do what every coach does.
Which is making sure that habit is locked and loaded. So set up a trigger and I'd ask them to kind of set up their own trigger, which will remind them that, you know, the session is about to start and they decided on their own when that timer will be set. But moving forward, hopefully next week will be a lot sweeter and easier.
If there is one thing that you.
Can do starting today, a habit that you can instill in your life which will bring the biggest change and make you the happiest, more confident, amazing self next year. What would that habit be? I really encourage you to actually start to put this practice into you starting today. Reason why it's important is making sure that we action the things that we want to get done sooner than later. Builds accountability, but then also gives us the momentum that we need to do a little bit more.
