There are people in our lives who kill and crush our mojo. Why? Because we let them. We give them permission to decrease our joy, to take us down, and even to take life more seriously. I constantly receive this compliment from people saying, "Ambereen, you're crazy." I know, I know what you're thinking is, Sounds more like an insult, Ambereen. How is this a compliment? Stay until the end and I'll actually reveal it to you. For now, let's talk about Mark, a client of mine who gave his wife permission to hijack so many moments of joy. Why? Because she didn't see eye to eye with him. See, Mark was the kind of guy who lived a rich, full, meaningful, energetic life. Within a year of marriage, he noticed that he wasn't as optimistic, he wasn't as positive about the way that he was living his life. Cynthia, another client of mine, was on a totally different boat. She felt as she had built a successful career path, but wasn't feeling fulfilled, as if something was missing. In coaching, she had a huge breakthrough on what that missing was to feel more fulfilled. I've shared two client stories with you. Let me know in the comments what resonates from this. Now, Mark and Cynthia were both chasing something or someone external. For Mark, it was feeling accepted and understood by his wife, and for Cynthia, it was validation and self-worth. Let me ask you this: what would change in your life if you began to go inward for your happiness versus seeking it outside? What if you gave yourself permission to do the silly, fun, wonderful, amazing things that actually brought more happiness, joy, optimism, in your life, even if the world called you crazy. I shared with you why being called crazy was a compliment. One day I sat with myself and asked, "What does it mean to be crazy?" And— Crazy people are not ordinary. They're extraordinary. I am extraordinary, and so are you.
