Hey, focus day to you. I pray that today you focus on the things that actually matter. Not always the tasks, the things to do, but the moments, the people, the things that are actually going to light your heart on fire. Hey, it's your family driven high performance coach. I'm brain serving it up again here and I like to provide some tools, some tricks, some tips on how to live more holistically, better, and impact your families and your loved ones with just a little bit more goodness. Okay, today's topic is inspired by my eldest son. So he's 15, almost turning 16 and not really being mindful. Yep. So just a few days ago, he calls me or he messages me saying, hey, ma, can you go out and just check the premises? I think I dropped my wallet. So his biggest concern wasn't that he's dropped his wallet, it was his permit went missing. And he is somebody who loves to drive and is really looking forward to, you know, driving on his own. Not just too long, not, you know, in just a little bit. And so we checked the premises, can't find it. He comes back home, he drops his backpack and says, hi, hello, and then leaves right back. And he can't find it. So I started to walk with him, you know, just like, give an extra pair I. To see if maybe this wallet will appear while doing some praying that, you know, God somehow magically just makes it show up and we don't find it. So now, hey, Ma, like, you know, can we go to the dmv? And I said, oh, like, what's the dmv? Because I don't know. I talked to my friend and he said, you should be able to get another one at the dmv. And I said, oh, okay. Well, like, now explain to him what a DMV is. I said, what lesson can you learn from this? Because you're. You misplaced it before. You lost it before too, and now it's gone because the wallet has gone missing. But I need to just be more mindful, be more focused. They gotta start pouring things in the right place. So yesterday, as I'm talking him into bed, normal stuff every day, almost all I'm telling you, I looked out and the wallet is right there. And he has no idea. So I asked him to close his eyes and I said, hey, give me, you know, give. Put your hand out. So I put the wallet on his hand. He's excited, like, oh, my God, where'd you find? I said, it's right in here between the trundle, you know, in between the wood and the mattress of the trundle. And he goes, oh yeah, I had put it there and I forgot. So then I said, okay, well can you go put it away right now? It's like late at night, like past 9 o'. Clock. And he goes downstairs and he does his thing, comes back up, only to guess what? This is the one that you. I know if you're a parent, you can so relate to me or even if you're a sibling. This right here, it kind of made me. I go downstairs in the morning and it's on his desk. Now his desk and the backpack are literally two feet apart. I don't know what preoccupied his mind where he just put it on his desk and never actually made it into the backpack. Lo and behold, he comes downstairs, gets his backpack and he's like about to have breakfast. He's like, hey, Ma, Ma, can't find my camera, my wallet. It went away somewhere. I don't know where it is, Ma. I said, oh, is. Are you sure you put in the backpack? Yeah, I put it in here last night, but a whole story came up. I said, I know it was never in the backpack. And he goes, how can you say that, mama? How can you say that? I said, because I found it somewhere else. He goes, where'd you put it, huh? Where'd you put it? Tell me, old woman, where is it? He's like doing all this stuff. He has no idea that I'm mad right now and don't worry about it and goes, all I know is it was not there. And then. So I'm like, you left it again on the desk when you made a commitment to yourself that you're going to start putting in the right place and you went downstairs last night to put it in the. In the backpack. Totally careless, mindless, has no idea this, this went. You know, it's kind of again for him, it's gone missing. So what do you do when your kiddo just starts doing that with a. Misplacing things, forgetting things, losing things, can't find things. What is something that'll help? And so I was asking myself, like, what can I do differently? So I said, I gotta, I gotta make him more responsible for his things. So starting today, I'm going to elevate him to make sure that he puts his things away in the right place. And the expectations that I have said, I'm not just telling you about them and making sure that you follow through and, you know, you carry them out. Why? Because the only way to impact him in a way that he'll remember for the rest of his life. To put things in the right place, to be mindful of where things are going and to not be mindless. Because, hey, it's causing a lot of challenges in everybody's life, yours, mine and everybody else's. And this is something that I think a lot of children are struggling with nowadays is their brains are so preoccupied with something that they forget the now and that they're not focused in this moment, which causes them to maybe lose things, be more anxious, be more absent minded. Whatever you want to interject here, go ahead and do it. With all of that said, tell me, are you facing what I'm facing? Because I want to know. There are parents out there just like me who are fighting the children, are being more forgetful and are losing things and not really leverage this essence of responsibility that we had when we were growing up. If so, drop it down the chat. It will light me up. It'll make me so happy. And sending you a ton of Emberji, a whole lot of goodness is the ex mom signing out. Bye, folks.
