Domino effects of when parents wake up late

Coach Ambereen (host) records a short YouTube monologue about a morning when she overslept and had to hurry her three children to catch the bus. She recounts a specific incident where her son ran out without a sock and nearly missed breakfast, describes how she consciously paused, stayed intentional and calm, helped him put the sock and shoe on, and used a gratitude question to reframe the moment. The main takeaway: when parenting gets chaotic, pause before reacting and choose peaceful, intentional responses to model calm for your children.

Peaceful day to you. I am Coach Ambreen for those of you who do not know me. And I started this new series where I am challenging myself to share moments and insights from my day related to my three little humans and also just our family unit in general. Today I thought about what to share with you, and I thought, let's make it a little bit of fun, but then also just bring some genuineness to it. So think about it this way. I'm sure there have been. There has been a time in your life when you woke up late, you overslept, and that pushed the whole routine further down. I woke up super late today, and I had to get my kids up and out of bed. We had enough time to do it, but this essence of being peaceful, which is today's intention, isn't always so easy. So as I was going to wake up my first kid, I was like, be intentional. Be intentional. Be peaceful. Let him feel your peaceful vibes. And the same thing with the other two as the day went on, right? This is like, literally within the first hour and a half of them waking up, if not earlier, if not less time. My son, I'm like, hey, bud, you got five minutes to get ready. You know, you have three minutes to get ready. And now we're at a point where he hasn't had his breakfast. He's hardly ready to get out of the door. And so I put up. Packed up his lunch and put in his backpack, and he is scattered. I said, we got to go, bud. Like, it's time. We have to go catch the bus. So now I see him running ahead of me. So he runs out, and when I catch up to him, I see that he doesn't have his second shoe on. And I said, hey, are you not wearing socks? And he goes, yeah, I have it with me, right? And it's like, oh, well, here's your breakfast. And. And he goes, oh, okay. So now we're shuffling to put the breakfast in his. In his backpack, but this whole socks dilemma is making me so angry. I'm like, why do you leave the house without a sock on, right? Like, what are you doing? And in my head, I had to. I had to remind myself, hey, remember, it's peaceful, peaceful day, so let's bring some peace to this moment. So very quickly, as a mom, I took a step back and I said, okay, how do I show up better? And I took a deep breath and I said, hey, bud, why don't you sit here on the ground on the grass and just put your sock on, and then you can put your shoe on. So he does that. He says he gets, you know, he's down on the. On the grass. And I'm wondering in my head, while this is happening, why are we not doing this at home, Right? But I think he wanted to make sure that he could see the bus so he doesn't skip the bus. So this moment I had to really dial in as ex mom and think, all right, things happen. Let's just figure out how to get past this. So here he is putting on his sock, pulling it, and then it's the shoes time. He's like, I see him stomping his foot, right? Hey, why didn't you just stay down and put the shoe on properly so it's easier for you? And by this time, he really doesn't care except for just get the shoe on. We get the shoe on and then now we begun to walk towards the bus stop. And we have this daily practice that we do. And one of the questions that I asked him is like, what are you grateful for? He said, I'm grateful that I got to put my sock on and my shoe on before getting on the bus. So moments like these are going to happen in your life. Not every day, but they will come as parents, as caretakers, as those who love and embrace our family. Before reacting, just take a pause. Remind yourself to summon the best of who you are, and in that you'll impact your children and those around you in the most positive of manners. With that said, X mom signing out. Lots of love, Bye.
