Improving Family Relationships and Parenting Skills

Coach Ambereen (family-driven coach) presents a short coaching monologue about handling situations when children fail to meet commitments. She recounts getting a call complaining about her kids' behavior (excessive tech time, not waking early) and rejects an immediate punitive tech-ban. Instead she proposes communicating expectations clearly, accepting individual differences, and teaching responsibility by assigning a consequence focused on productive household/outdoor chores for the weekend while increasing her engaged presence. The video invites viewers to comment their own approaches and closes with an encouraging sign-off.

Congruent day to you. I pray that today you align a little bit more with your heart's desire because that's what I'm working on as well. Hey, your family driven coach, Coach Ambreen is here once again trying to serve you and myself to really carve out ways and pathways to better living, to better parenting, to creating a beautiful and irreplaceable bond amongst your family members and mine too. So these are just tools and strategies, trips and tricks, perspectives that I gain on a day to day basis around my own family and my own, you know, like intentional living. And today, you know, you kind of have somebody, all you have had somebody in your life where that one person calls to kind of complain about the other person or every time you talk to this one person they're going to say something bad about somebody else because they don't know how to deal with the issues themselves. So they kind of pin it on you and are hoping that somehow you can help resolve it. So just not too long ago I was reminded and given this phone call and what I realized is there's so much truth to what they're saying. However, I wouldn't handle it the same way that they did. And then of course acceptance is really important, right? Everyone does things their way. Everyone does things with their own capacity, with their own determination, with their own courage, with their own expectations. So for me to think that, hey, why didn't you do it like me, kind of very unfair. So here's what I was thinking is, and it's kind of attains and pertains to my kids and I'm always looking for ways to help myself grow, help them grow and kind of set up a pathway where we're moving towards a healthier boundaries, healthier lifestyle, healthier relationships. And my kids haven't been this thing according to this person. And I understand that. I can see it from their point of view and what they said to me is they haven't, they've been on tech for too long today. They didn't wake up early enough today, ban them for two days and from two days from technology. And I thought, okay, I'm listening. And I kind of had to sit there after the conversation noodle a little bit like what would I, what would my best self do as a mother? Well, what I want to do and show my kids that I had communicated expectations to you all last night. Got an okay and a yes from all of you in the morning. I tried my level best to reset expectations, to send you gentle reminders and here we are. Again, I'm getting a phone call saying that you're not really stepping up. So this is what I'm going to do. And drop in the comments below. What it is that you're going to do when people don't listen or don't adhere to their own commitments or they don't show the best and the most integrous versions of themselves, once they've kind of made that, you know, that really clear to you and you've made it clear to them. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to do a little bit of a change from the ban them from technology for two days. I'm going to actually make this weekend more about doing things and chores around the household and outside versus getting to spend time and doing whatever it is that they want. So the weekend, they'll spend time, tons of times with their cousins. They've got practices. So they spend time in that they literally, you know, can have extended tech hours. They have a lot of things that are just like freedom. Yeah, that's the word I'm looking for. Freedom of time and freedom of being. But this weekend, and I will remind them that, hey, you had committed to something and you didn't uphold it. So this is the way I'm going to teach you that once you say yes to something, you've got to commit to it. Alongside was kind of making sure that I'm there a lot more to just be fully present and engage with them, to bring them back, to kind of nudge them a little bit, to let all of us know that every day we can get a little bit better as we tap into our own greatness. Sending you a ton of umbergy, which is my elevated, pure, radiant, authentic, courageous, wonderful and vibrant energy alongside with just letting you know, this is Ex mom signing out. Bye.
