Coach Ambereen (YouTube video, Apr 23, 2024) describes a successful change to her family's morning routine: she asked her children to create their own morning routines (gave them paper and pen), set a shared meditation time (at :45 past the hour), and shifted her approach to be peaceful and to require the children to take accountability. She reports three key outcomes: clearer expectations (children set their own tasks), calmer household energy, and increased child responsibility and helpfulness. The segment ends with encouragement to try simple scheduling or small expectations to shift the tone of family days.

Appreciative day to you. I hope today brings with us moments where you just pause and notice the simple things and actually recognize them. So that way you can add a lot more joy and goodness into your life. If you don't know me, my name is Coach Ambrain. I show up here just to serve you, to make you realize that our family is one of the most important units and relationships that we have. And every day I kind of go through and look at my morning and see what are some insights I can provide to you, which I, too, am actively working on to grow as a parent, to learn to listen, and to accept our little humans as they are. And so today we had a remarkable morning in our house. And that was set up because there has been a new calendar or a new routine that's been put into play. And what I realized is I was getting so frustrated, so irritated and so annoyed even, because my kids were not doing the expected. And every single time, usually I will sit there and kind of write it out. And, like, they'll say, okay, that's fine. But what I did differently was this time, I had them take accountability. And I gave them a sheet of paper and pen and said, let's go ahead and see what it is that you can get done. Create your morning routine. And they did. I said, this is the time I want you to wake up. Besides that, you figure out what you need to do. And the other thing that I put in there is at, you know, at 45 past the hours, we're all going to sit down and meditate. And just a small shift in pivot. It was so beautiful. My daughter kind of woke up and said, Is it 620 yet? And I said, no, you still have a little bit of time. And then my second was like, oh, can I get a little bit more time just for today? Just for today? And I said, well, my intention was to come and wake you up. I did that. Now it's up to you how and how you manage your time. As long as you show up, you know, before I. Meditation hours, or meditation, you know, time. And my eldest, you know, who manages his time pretty well. And this something that he's learned just this year alone, being in high school, he was not only on time, but he took the time and effort to help me in the morning and in the morning hours. It's beautiful when we as parents can get just a little bit of help. And I kind of was thinking about, like, what help happened. So the first thing that really happened was having them set the expectations for themselves. So that way they know what needs to be done. That really changed the game for our house and we're still in progress, we're still in flight to really figure out how this is going to serve us and that we are disciplined and consistent with this, with this morning routine especially. The second thing is I was peaceful. So the energy that I gave to the kids was peaceful and loving and they reciprocated that and gave it back to me. And the third thing that happened was there was this accountability part, this responsibility portion that I think we as often as parents, we want to give, give, give. But what I realized my own self is when I keep giving, they keep taking. So why don't they give to themselves the best of who they are and show up? Wonderful. I hope this insight helped you in some way, shape or form maybe to get a schedule for your family or even set a small expectation or even a simple thing as how do you wake up in the morning? You know, what is the first thing that you say can really shift the tone of your whole day that I know is so, so, so key. With that said, sending you a whole lot of love, whole lot of goodness. X Mom signing out. Bye.
