Making Family Decisions That Leave A Lasting Legacy

Coach Ambereen shows how reactive family decisions breed resentment and burnout. She walks through two scenarios—a tense conversation with a spouse's mother, a teen asking for money—and explains why intentional boundaries and responding from wholeness matter. Her clients Sarah and Nick used her coaching system to navigate these conflicts and protect their own well-being.

Hey, have you ever been in a situation where you made a decision and upset your family? That's what we're diving into today. Hey, if we've never met, my name is Coach Ambereen, and as a family-driven coach, it is essential to making this unit a priority so that way not only can we live a good life, but we can also leave a legacy. Continue watching until the end and let's find out ways that we can support each other to really making your family a priority and dealing with difficult situations. Imagine having to share with your spouse that you don't like the attitude of his or her mother. Now typically conversations like these, they turn bitter, they turn sour really quickly unless you become intentional, unless you start to mentally prepare for these conversations to have some type of a structure. Continue listening to define the key that will actually become the differentiator of how you're showing up so you don't regret the differences in these conversations. It's 12:33 PM and you receive another call from your teen with the ad hoc request saying, "Can I get some money to watch a movie with my friends?" You take a pause and you remind them of another boundary that you've put up and you kind of just reaffirm it, asking them, "What have you done to earn another movie experience?" What do they do? They respond with their usual, "It's not a big deal, it's just a movie." This time you take a few seconds to collect your thoughts so you're not being reactive, you're responding from a place of wholeness, and you say, "You know what, you're right, it's no big deal. Please let your friends know that you will not be joining." Now if you can relate to me about having all these ad hoc requests, from your teens, asking for money, asking for experiences without earning them, almost like feeling privileged to have them, comment "boundaries" down below so we can all understand that we are all facing very similar challenges. Now, in these two scenarios, you are the only constant. Wouldn't you agree? It's exhausting to be everything and everyone for everybody else around you? Let me rephrase that. Isn't it exhausting to do and to be everything for everybody around you? What starts to end up happening is you lose your own essence. Coaching has been the solution for thousands of people just like you who really want to lean into courage, who want to learn to create respectful boundaries in their relationship and who are willing to really elevate themselves because they realize that without them, without their happiness, without their joy, nothing else matters. They feel burnt out, frustrated, angry, resentful, unfulfilled, even energetically and mentally drained. So what can shift for you? Everything. However, you have to be responsible to take action. I cannot do that for you. Now I said take action. I've honestly had the honor of supporting Sarah to have that difficult conversation with her husband about how she feels that her mother-in-law is crossing a few boundaries. At the same time, I've really been able to support Nick to create a customized plan to put forth, letting his mom know that it's no longer okay to say hurtful things to Sarah, like she's not deserving of Nick. You see, life is a process, and coaching is that customized system, that structure, which provides you with tools, insights, perspective shifts, and even breakthroughs that allow you to leave the past where it belongs and really march towards the future that is by design.
