Hi, fellow Plan A thoners. I hope that you're all ready and excited to get your planning on for 2016. I know that I am. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Amy Bryan and I'm the owner of Bryan Insurance and Risk Managed Pro. And today I'm going to give you two quick tips that you can take with you to get your business insurance in check for the new year. Now, before you guys turn off the video because you heard the word insurance and you think that it's boring, just hear me out. Because taking a few quick steps to get today for the what ifs and preparing for the new year for your business could actually save you thousands in the long run. So it's a good step to take. The first step that you're going to do is you're going to find that policy pretty simple, right? We're going to dig it out, open it up, call your email or your broker or whatever you have to do to get a copy of that policy in your hands or on your computer. You have to know what you have first, and that's the most important thing. The next thing that you're going to do, you're going to take a highlighter, maybe a pen, or if you work from home, sometimes all you can find is your kid's crayon. That's fine, too. Whatever you need to do, we're going to just mark up that policy. You want to make sure you know what your coverages are, whether that's general liability or your business property or anything else that you have professional liability. If you're a consultant, you want to make sure you know the limits that you have for the coverages. The next thing that you need to know that's important is what you have for your deductible. Your deductible is what you're responsible for, for paying out of pocket in the event that there's a claim. So that could affect your bottom line for the new year. So you got to make sure that you know what that is. And the next thing is, of course, what you're paying. So your insurance premium, you want to make sure that you mark that up and know what you're paying and how much you're paying for the insurance. The next step, very easy, we're going to get back on the phone or an email and call that insurance agent or broker or the company, if you don't have one, and set up an appointment to talk to someone about the insurance policies that you have and go over everything and the changes that have happened in your business. If you don't have an insurance policy or you've never had one before, now is actually a good time to go and take a look at what's available for your industry. Maybe talk to an insurance agent or broker, maybe go to an association that you're part of and see what you can get as far as coverage is. It's important to protect yourself now so that later on down the long run, you're not paying lots out of pocket for something that could have easily been covered by insurance. And it's important to also make sure that when you're talking to your agent or your broker that you're telling them, hey, my business has changed, hey, I've added employees, or hey, I'm doing something completely different than what I told you in the beginning. Because if you don't tell your agent or broker, you might not have insurance for what you think you're covered for. And then something could happen and you have nothing, which you're basically wasting your money then. And we don't want to do that either. So first step, dig out that policy. Find out what you covered for. Make sure you know what your deductibles are so you can set aside some money during the year for that if something happened. And also know what you're paying for your premium and insurance. Next step, call your insurance agent, broker or company or go and find one to get one for your business insurance and make an appointment and sit down with them to go over everything that's going on with your business and making sure that you're protected as much as you can with the insurance for the business. So those are my two easy steps. We do have some checklists and other things available if you guys are interested to help you go through your policies for the new year. I'll be in the forum. So if you guys have any questions or want to pick my brain. I'm total insurance and risk management geek, so I love answering questions for people. I'd be more than happy to and happy planning everyone. Bye.
