Day 4.4 Get More Done in Less Time 2016Planathon.com

This is a YouTube video titled "Day 4.4 Get More Done in Less Time 2016Planathon.com" featuring a monologue by Courtney Johnston recorded in November 2015. The content is a motivational talk focused on productivity tips such as batching tasks and using the Pomodoro technique to overcome procrastination and increase efficiency in writing and other work.
Hey planethoners, this is Courtney Johnston from RulebreakersClub.com I'm so excited to be here today talking to you about getting more done in less time. So the reason why I'm so excited that Amber asked me to talk about this topic is because I'm a copywriter and I happen to specialize in sales page copy. And the type of work that I do tends to be the type type of work that everybody, including myself, really, really, really wants to procrastinate on. It's hard work to get done. Nobody wants to do it. So I think that the tips that I'm going to give you about getting more done in less time, they're really going to work for doing the type of work that you really don't want to do and just getting it done and hammering it out. So basically what I do is I plan ahead. I make a list of all the pieces of copy I need to write. So it might be a sales page, it might be, you know, three emails and some promotional blurbs and et cetera, et cetera, maybe some scripts. And then I plan time to just batch that content. So actually today I'm batching a bunch of videos. So I do videos for my blogs anyway. I have a few other videos like this one that I needed to create. So I'm batching those videos today. And I have filming days every month where I go in and I just get a bunch done all at once. Because once you get in a flow, you get set up, you have all your tools ready, it's really easy to keep going versus if you had to restart the process every time you had a new piece of writing to do. So my action for you today is I want you to right now go ahead and just make a list of all of the maybe pieces of writing or if it's not pieces of writing, maybe there's some other category of things that you need to get done. And I want you to plan time this week to spend an hour or two just getting that done. And I like to also use that pomodoro technique that I just learned about. Maybe you already know about it. Maybe I'm behind the times. Basically, you set a timer for 25 minutes, you work on the task for that 25 minutes and then you take a five minute break. So I think that's a great way of chunking it and getting things done. Especially we can all work on something for 25 minutes. That's not too bad. It's when we think that something's going to take hours and hours at a time that it becomes overwhelming. So I hope that really helped you. I'm going to go get finished with these videos today day, and I hope to see you around. Have fun planning.
