Hey, planners. I'm Rachel Luna, best selling author of the book Successful People Are Full of Crap. Courage, Resilience, Authenticity, Perseverance. And the founder of the Confident Entrepreneur Academy. And I'm super excited to be here because I am a planner just like you are today. I really want to talk to you about taking confident action. Now, just as a disclaimer, you may hear a very loud parakeet in the background. That's my bird, Tuffy. He feels the need to make an appearance on every single video. So please forgive Tuffy in advance. He's very confident. He knows he wants to be in the mix. But jokes aside, let's get down to what is confidence really? Confidence is just a certainty, just a trust, an ability for you to trust in yourself and, and in the actions that you're about to take. And my personal belief is that your bank account is a direct reflection of your level of confidence. So if your bank account, if your business bank account isn't doing as well as you'd like it to, that may be a strong indicator that there's some key area in your business where you're lacking confidence. Today I'm going to give you a couple steps for you to take confident action. Because what must one do if we're going to move forward in our businesses and change the world? And we got to take action every single day. So let's dive right on in. The first step to taking confident action is making confident decisions. So you're going to want to figure out exactly what it is that you want to do over the next. Personally, I like to start with 90 days. But if you're a big visionary person and you just got to know, you can do 12, 18 months. And I typically like to tell people to stick within that 18 month or less timeframe because when you start to do your five year plan, the vision is too big and oftentimes you get paralyzed because you're trying to take actions today that you know that you want to have an effect in five years and that's just not feasible. The reality is the actions that we take today are mostly going to be relevant and really identifiable about three months from now. So again, decide what it is that you want to achieve over the next 90 days. 6 months, 12 months and 18 months. Here's how I like to make confident decisions. The first thing I like to look at is, does it fit in with my vision? Okay, I want to achieve this in the next 60 days. I want to achieve that in the next 12 months. Okay, will taking this action Marry into that. So that's the first thing. The second thing that you want to do is you want to measure the opportunity cost. If I say yes to taking this action, how far does that set me back from my 90 day, whatever marker goal you're going for? The reason why you want to take opportunity costs into consideration is because you don't want to be wasting money and you definitely don't want to be wasting time. Now, important to note is what does your gut say? Intuition is a huge factor in being able to make confident decisions. Because oftentimes your intuition, your gut, that little voice that's going to give you your answer of what you should be doing. And here's a little tip for you. If you feel like you can't trust your intuition, if you feel like your gut has let you down in the past, I want you to do this exercise because this is really healing, it's really powerful, and it's going to change how you view your intuition going forward. So the first thing that you'll do is you'll think about all the major mistakes that you've made in your life. I know that's a little painful to do, but why don't we just take the last three. Let's take the last three major mistakes that you've made. And I want you to go back, think back as far as you can to the very beginning, right before you made that decision. Did you hear a little something? Did you feel a little something in your gut tell you, hey, maybe we shouldn't do this? Maybe this isn't the greatest idea. Because oftentimes, in my experience and in working with hundreds of clients, what I have found is that we have an alarm. It goes off. But for whatever reason, maybe we're excited, maybe we're scared, maybe we're nervous. We override that intuition. But you're going to want to look and just try to identify. Did my intuition really kick in and did I follow my intuition or did I do what I wanted to do and sort of kick that to the wayside? Nine times out of ten, you'll find that at the start of a bad decision, your intuition kicked in and gave you a warning sign. And that is a great indicator and an amazing reminder that you can absolutely trust your intuition. Okay, so let's move on to the very next step in taking confident action. You have to do exactly what you're doing in this group, and that is plan. You must, must, must. Absolutely. Like this is non negotiable. You have to plan the action. Steps that you're going to take. Now here's what I see a lot of people do. I see a lot of people break out their pretty little notebooks. Isn't that pretty? They break out their pretty little notebook and they will brainstorm. They'll create a ch to do list. Not brainstorm, they'll create a to do list. And they'll try to work off this to do list every single day. Let me tell you why your to do list is killing you. Your to do list is typically created out of fear and necessity and things that life. Life things that are coming in. Your to do list also really takes into consideration the key priorities that you need to take to achieve the vision. Right. Your to do list is. Your reaction list is what I like to call it. So what I don't want to see you do is I don't want to see you write a to do list. In order to be an effective planner, you have to first conduct a brain dump. And this is where you create a kind of a to do list. But you're not going to really do it. You're just going to get all the thoughts and ideas out of your head. You got to get them out of your head. And then you take that very same brain dump and you start thinking about, okay, what are the top three priorities I need to achieve today to help me move forward? And what I like to do is I like to do a brain dump every single night. And I plan the night before for the following day. Here's why. You're going to sleep better. You're going to wake up with a plan of action. You're not going to sort of diddle around and screw around, like, what do I do today? What should I do? What's most important? Like what? That frenetic energy is really bad for your confidence, and it's also bad for your business. So you want to do a brain dump the night before. You want to take your brain dump and then go to whatever planner you've got and identify your top three priorities. Then from there, you're going to move on to step number three, which is schedule. I see a lot of people make a lot of plans, but they don't schedule it in. And I am like a time. I don't want to use the word Nazi because I feel like that's not PC, but I'm a stickler when it comes to the time and scheduling things. So you want to go to your planner and you want to schedule those things that you've identified as your top three priorities. This is another important note. If you want to raise your confidence through the roof, I highly encourage you to to only schedule three priorities per day. Does that mean that you're not scheduling other things? No, of course not. You will schedule in your clients or whatever kind of creation work you have to do. But I'm talking about your top three needle moving priorities. These are the things that are going to help you take action in your business so that you can achieve that big vision goal that we talked about instead. Step one, and the reason why I say keep it at three is because as you're getting used to a new system, you're going to try to do a lot more. And when you don't hit your three priorities, you're going to start to feel bad, you're going to start to question yourself and that is no bueno for the confidence. So keep it to three or less and proceed with caution. I will tell you, for me personally, this particular season in my life, I only do two needle moving priorities because I have identified that the priorities that I have take quite a bit of time. And every time I try to put that third thing, that third thing never gets done. So I said, screw it, I'm only going to do two priorities a day for this season. And again, I want to remind you, these are needle moving activities. These are those things that are going to help you achieve your big goals for 2016. Of course you have to still plan your family time, your content creation time, your client time. Those things do get scheduled. But make sure that you're scheduling those needle moving priorities. And then my fourth and final tip to taking confident action is get accountable. And guess what, you're in the right place. Because I know, because I'm a former prior Plan a THON graduate, I know that this is a great community to stay accountable. So what I'd love to see you do below in the comments is go through the four steps I just listed. Tell us what's your vision for the next 90 days, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, whatever timeframe you're looking at, tell us what's your vision. Tell us what decisions you're going to make for this time. So what actions are you going to take? That's the decision making part. What actions are you going to take just this next week that are going to help you get closer to that 90 day, 180 day vision? Then the third thing I want you to do is I want you to plan it out and show us your plan, schedule it and everything. Put little times next to it. And then just tell us. Hold me accountable. And you can bet your little confident butt that I will be in there holding you accountable every step of the way. I'm Rachel Luna from rachelluna Biz. Thanks so much for watching. Here's to love, confidence. Bye.
