Elle's Testimonial

Elle McCann, a Shopify web designer, credits the Freshly Implemented community with helping her reduce burnout, build a team, and create passive income. She emphasizes how accountability and connections with other remote entrepreneurs made her business sustainable.
Hi, I'm Elle McCann and I am a web designer with the Shopify platform. I have been a part of Freshly Implemented for two years now, and I'm excited to give this testimonial. I definitely am notorious for working in my business versus on my business. And I saw a lot of that accountability that I really needed in that first year of posting your goals on Monday and then coming back Friday and, you know, having that accountability partner to say, oh, I didn't do it. I just worked on client work. And so really for me, I noticed a huge increase in my productivity having that accountability. So I knew I had to do it for another year while my business was growing. It really wasn't sustainable because I couldn't take a vacation, I couldn't take a sick day. I was getting super burned out because I was working 60, sometimes 80 hours a week on client work. And so I knew that I needed to kind of step back and set up more systems and also start working on some passive income so I could really make my business work more with the lifestyle that I wanted instead of just working 247 before, whenever I first came to freshly implemented for 60 to 80 hours a week. Now I'm working about 30 hours a week. I have a lot more passive income coming in and I've also set up those systems. So I have a lot of onboarding for my clients, a lot of automated systems already in terms of proposals, things like that that have drastically cut down on my time. And then I also now have a team that I outsource to. So before I thought I had to wear all the hats and kind of took a lot of pride in wearing all the hats. But now I realize that was kind of silly and it works a lot better with me being fulfilled and having a team that helps me so I'm not burnout all the time. I think my favorite part about Fresh is the connections. So the Facebook group is super active and you could come on at any point of the day, I feel like, and get feedback on either a project that you're working on, something uplifting, something funny if it's like a meme that someone posts as like an inspiration for the day. So it kind of is just a really nice place to hang out. And I really hate social media. And I swear if I didn't have a business, I would never go on social media. But the Facebook group makes me actually want to be on Facebook and interact because it's just so much good feedback. And also helping people through their problems is really fulfilling as well, there's just so much feedback and everybody's bouncing ideas off of each other. So you come in with one idea, but you leave with a totally better idea afterwards. That's actually my first live event ever and I loved it. It was so much great energy and I feel like so many good connections were made. Although you can still make really good connections online, having that face to face connection was super huge. And I came back feeling on top of the world. Oh, yeah, absolutely. I think being an entrepreneur can be kind of lonely. And people don't really tell you that at the beginning. Especially, like if you do work from home. There's a lot of days where you kind of. You get in your own zone, you get in a routine and you're not building these connections, you're not networking, you're not getting this kind of feedback that you would if you were in like a typical office setting. So I think just based on the feedback alone, as well as the accountability factor, to really have kind of a whole team of cheerleaders supporting you to reach your goals is just life changing. So I 100% recommend it to everybody. Have honesty with yourself in terms of what you need to work on and be really open and ask for help with that. It.
