Goaldone Week Day Four - How to Virtually Guarantee That You WILL Hit Your Goals

Amber McCue and Shay share strategies for hitting your goals: keep them visible, focus on a few key tasks each week, embrace change as it comes, and stay motivated. They break down what actually works during a goal-setting session.
Foreign.
We are almost done with golden week. We are on day four. We have day five left. And I am so excited for us to jump in today. In day four, which is today, we are going to talk about how you can virtually guarantee that you will hit your goals every single time. So, Amber, let us just jump in and talk about how we can hit our goals, what your secret sauce is so that we can share it with the people with us who are here with us today.
Oh, my gosh. Shay. You know the secret sauce. And we're gonna break it out. Actually, I'm just gonna slide back here. I should have had this with me. I. I'm sorry you can't see this. I'm moving back here to grab the secret sauce, which is the card I keep my goal front and center every year since 2008. I think this is the 2008 card on the back here. They're stacked in order right now. I have kept my goals front and center. When we moved, when we traveled abroad, I did not pack them in the suitcase. I packed them in my carry on because I didn't want to lose these, and I did not put them in the shipment. I kept them with me because we want you to keep your goals front and center. Because with all of the distractions that there are out there, having them front and center is going to keep you focused on what matters most. Where am I going again? We're going right here. Ping, ding, knock at the door, all the things. Wait. Okay. Where am I going? You're going right here. The other thing that this helps is it helps our subconscious get on board. We are. Many of us are visual, right? I say the word apple. Many people. There are some that see a P, P, L, E, but many people see an apple. Right? We're seeing the thing. And so our brains quickly are processing information, even when we're not, like, looking right at it. So this is why I want you to keep it handy and put it on my desk right now instead of the shelf behind me, for it's going to be right there while we're talking. All of this now. And I want to invite you to keep your goals front and center, too, to get your subconscious on board and help you keep that focus. Shea, I know you've got a goal card as well. Where do you keep yours?
I actually have mine at my desk, and I have it taped to my monitor because I work here every single day. So I know I am going to set. See it every single day, and it's going to reinforce my Three main goals that I want to hit this year.
Ah, so stinking good. Now, I've been keeping these goal cards since 2008. I mentioned that. And every year since 2008, except one, I have met the goals on my goal card. This is in part because we're using all the strategies we've been talking about all week. I believe I can achieve it right. I'm stacking strategies and action steps around it. I mean, we've been practicing the things that we're talking about that are also based in research for years, over a decade at this point. And I reach those goals on the goal card every year, except one. Because the one year someone encouraged me with love, they lovingly encouraged me to go bigger. My goals were too small. They knew I could do more. They were encouraging me to do more, go bigger. And they had a compelling case. So, Shay, I listened, I shifted my goals that year and that was the year I didn't reach my goals because it was out of alignment for me. Could I do more?
Sure.
I could have gone bigger, I could do more, but it wasn't the right season for me to take that step. So I want you to really watch as we're creating our goals and we're setting our moon goals, that you have belief that it is the right time. If you've got that nudge and you've got that calling, if you keep hearing that voice like, this is what I need to be doing, it's probably the right time. If you look at that goal and you're like, no, absolutely not interested. Listen to what you hear that voice, listen to what you know to be true and stay in alignment with what is right and right on time and true for you right now. So that is the tip I have. As we set these goals, we are going to move into talking through some strategies of how you are going to step forward and reach these goals. But before we do, Shay, do you have any other strategies around the goal card?
For me, it was important to make sure that I saw my goal card here. But taking it a bit, one more step to the next level is making sure I only had a few things to focus on each week, making sure that I wasn't trying to put again 25 things on my list each week and creating an additional 50, 60 hours for myself. So bringing it back to what we talked about yesterday and really honing in on the things that we needed to focus on. Can you share a little more about that?
Yeah, I love it. So we built out yesterday, the monthly forecast inside Stay golden. And we showed you in yesterday's Golden Week video how that works and how we set that up is that you're going to have a maximum three things to do each week inside Stay golden and when you create your monthly forecast. So what does this mean in business, in my personal life, in all the spaces, I boil it down to the three big things I need to get done this week. And I set that plan up at the beginning of the month in our stakeholder monthly guest. So then when you sit down to do the work, it's not all the things. And you're sitting down knowing what you're going to focus on because you built the plan at the beginning of the month. So we don't have a decision making fatigue does not have the opportunity to creep in. So if you've ever sat down at the end of the day, you're like, okay, what's for dinner? I don't care. I am all out answered. And we have so much going on in our days, in our lives. We talked about how we are busy and so we want to start to make the decision making easier on us. So three things is what we invite you to focus on this week. That's going to pull from your monthly forecast. And we want you to carve out time on your calendar at the beginning of each week to get just those three things done. Now, those three things may have steps and milestones underneath them, right? You may have, you know, if you are setting a goal to make dinner every night this week, that could be one of your three things, right? Every day I'm making dinner. That's one of my three things. That's one of my three things for the week. But we know you got to go to the grocery store to make the dinner, right? We know you've got to identify what you're going to make for the dinner. So there are going to be things that get stacked under this. But you've got three big things that you're focused on at any given time and you've got space in your calendar if you are following along from the prior Golden Week videos. So when things change, do not stress things change in life. If there is one thing I can guarantee from this week is that things are going to change. We are going to put a plan in place this week. It might shimmy a little bit, I think, oh, this is what I want to do. No, I actually want to do this or this is how I plan to do it. Oh, okay. I can't quite do it that way because as we are learning. We may decide to make changes in addition to the unexpected things that come up. So we believe that change is okay and that at any moment, you can have a fresh start. So this isn't going how I planned this week. It's not working. I can't even fix this plan. You don't have to. You can reset and have a fresh start, change your plans at any given moment. There is no shame. There is no judgment. There is no rule that says this plan can't change. Have you experienced, Shay, moments where you're like, okay, I can use a fresh start right now, and where you've decided to put in place?
Absolutely. And one thing I also think about is that we are setting goals differently right now. So how we're setting them, how we're looking to achieve them, it's not in a sense of how we're going to accomplish them like we have before. You know, things are going to be a bit different. So, of course, change is going to be inevitable because we don't know what's involved or how long it could potentially take. Kind of like you said, hey, my goal is to make meals every single day this week. Well, now you're meal planning. Now you have to grocery shop, and depending on where you live, you might not have access to have the groceries delivered to you. Like, those are some that. So then now you're going to. And that is being mindful of. Hey, that is a little extra time as well.
Yeah. I love that you called us because at the beginning of the week, we invited you to set a goal that was a little bit challenging, and the S is in step with your skill level. But you may not have all the answers because we have likely never gone after that goal before. Right. We are always evolving. We are always growing. We are always moving the needle. You are ambitious. You are motivated. You're.
So.
I never done this thing before. Like, I had a goal, Shay. It wasn't actually one of my moonshine goals. It's been a goal that's been on my list for a while to take a surf lesson. And I want to learn to surf. I took a surf lesson. I could say I've learned to surf. I know what to do, but I'm not quite there yet. I had no idea how long it was going to take me, how many times I'd fall down before I stood up, if I'd ever catch a wave. So we may fall down. We may not catch the first wave or the second wave or the third wave. To be honest, I have not caught a wave yet by myself. Pushed me every time. My instructor, every wave I caught, he was like, advanced. It was all in French too. I don't speak very good French yet. So. Okay, okay. And I walk. But I had help. I had connection. Now, who knows when I go and do it by myself next time? Actually, I think I'll do an instructor again and then maybe try it on my own. Right. But I don't know how many times. But I'm going to stay in it and we're going to have a plan and we're going to keep working towards it. So do not put off your goals and your joy another day. You have joy and take steps towards your goal every single day. I want you to keep it visual and we want you to continue to pull through the power of three and we want you to embrace a fresh start anytime you want. Every time you fall down like I did on that surfboard, pop back up, you've got a fresh start.
Oh, I absolutely love that. Now this brings us to today's Golden Game, which is I want you to share with us in the comments below so we can give you some sunshine and so you can give some sunshine to others. Share one aha moment you've had about why you might have missed a goal in the past. And now that you have this new structure and way of thinking how you're going to do things differently this time, we definitely want to hear from you. We want to see what you're learning, what you're going to be implementing so that we can help you move forward. Also, for our bonus step, again, this is always optional. We want you to review your three action steps that are listed in the Golden Hour section in the Stay Golden Platform. Are they your right steps for this week? If not, you can always go back and edit them. That's not a problem. If you want to join Stay golden the Platform with us, we would love to have you. You can click on that link below and it'll get you everything you need to know to register with us. We are so incredibly happy on all the progress that you have done this week so far. You have made it to day four and we are so happy for you. So excited to be on this journey with you. Thank you for being present with us.
Oh my gosh. I am loving this and loving your comments below. So Shea shared the Golden Game. Share a reflection on that time when you may have missed your goals in the past. Like I missed my goals one year. There have been many goals that I have set in that reach. But for the big ones on this goal card, it has only one year and we want that for you too. So reflection is important part of our growth process and our learning journey. Sorry y', all, was my lip gloss falling? And when you comment below and share your aha with the Golden Game, you are entered to win. So make sure you're also registered for Stay Golden Week. That link below as well will get you the workbook and we'll have your email address where we are sending out every single day this week. Announcement of our Golden Game winner.
Amber, don't forget to tell them about the VIP session. I know we mentioned it briefly yesterday, but I don't want us to forget again.
Thank you. Shay, if you are here in Golden Week with us and you join us inside, Stay golden. We have a VIP session on Saturday that I don't want you to miss. It's going to be in it. It's going to be answering your questions about you, getting to where you want to go with more ease, with more joy, without all overwhelmed in the shows. We're going to be there connecting and talking. I've got some things to share, but we're going to mostly answer your questions and make sure you are good to go to bring everything that you are working towards in your three moonshot goals to life.
We cannot wait to see you there. Thank you for being here. We will see you tomorrow. Bye.
