Is it time to fire yourself? The Org Chart

Amber McKee argues solo entrepreneurs should map out an organizational chart to identify which roles they're actually good at. By seeing your business as separate positions, you can delegate tasks that slow you down and focus on what you do best.
Hey, everyone, it's Amber McKee with niceops.com and I am so excited to be here with you today talking about a very important topic, the org chart. Don't have an org chart yet. Just a team of one and think you don't need an org chart. You are way wrong. Let's back it up a little bit. Your org chart is very simply a one page visual document that outlines who in the organization is doing what. For example, you, my friend, are probably at the top of this org chart filling the CEO or the chief everything officer position. In addition, there is someone who is taking care of sales. There's someone who's taking care of marketing, of bookkeeping, the client experience, and your client delivery. Now, if you are sitting there thinking, yeah, I do all of that, it's me, Amber. I'm the one. It's all me. This still applies to you. So you're gonna set up your org chart with all of these roles. And of course we have a template here that you can download to start filling in the blanks immediately. You're gonna map out what all these roles are and then you're gonna start putting names next to it. Now, granted, it might be you, it might be your name in most of these boxes to start. And that's okay. What this is gonna help you do is identify areas where maybe you aren't spending enough time, maybe you're not giving enough attention. So you need to fire yourself. Hi, Amber. Can I see you in my office, please? Hey, Amber. Is everything okay? Why don't you have a seat? Look, there's just no easy way to say this. You're fired. What? You're fired. I mean, you're really pretty, you're cool, you're smart, you're really fun to hang out with, and I love going to yoga with you still, but you just suck at bookkeeping. Oh. Well, I can't say I'm not disappointed, but I really love working with you. I mean, you're beautiful, you're smart, Amber. I mean, you're building an amazing business. But I totally respect your decision. So are we still on for yoga Sunday? Definitely. Great. Okay. Well, I guess I should leave the office then. Oh, yeah. Oh, okay. See you later. So, yeah, I've been fired a few times. But I gotta tell ya, it's not such a bad thing. By firing yourself from some of these roles and responsibilities that you think you have to do because no one else can or no one else can do them as good as you can, you will be able to focus on the things that you are really good at and that are ultimately gonna help you grow your business. In fact, it's a self made millionaire billionaire mindset that outsources things that somebody else can do better than they can. The research in business brilliant shows the middle class will continue to DIY things that they think they can for as long as they can instead of finding someone else to do them. You are moving into self made millionaire and billionaire status, my friends. So you are going to complete this org chart and you're going to identify those things that maybe someone else could do better than you. Even if that's not something that you start to outsource next week. Even if they aren't things that you start to move off your plate a month from now, you're going to start laying the foundation and identifying those areas that you're really good at and that you can use to grow your business. And you're going to start to come up with a plan for how you can ultimately fire yourself from the things that you don't do best. So now on to you. Download the org chart that we've prepared for you below and fill in what are the key roles in your organization. Then let us know in the comments where you are going to focus and where you might need to fire yourself. All right everyone, thank you so much for watching. Don't forget to like and subscribe and I will see you in the next video.
