List Building

Four ways to grow your email list: set 90-day goals, host Facebook events, launch new surprises, and engage with real vulnerability. The speaker walks through each tactic with practical steps for online business.
Hey, today we are talking about list building. And if you haven't heard by now, you always say like the money is kind of in the list. There's so much chit chat about list building online that my brain just comes kind of starts to get foggy and my eyes glaze over and I got this big distraction. So it's really easy to just ignore list building. So today we want to share with you four super effective list building techniques that I have personally, that I have personally used to gain hundreds and hundreds of subscribers each time that I personally use to engage with people in my audience again and again. There are a gazillion ways to find new people to add to your list, but in this video I'm sharing with you the ones that have worked the best for me. These are tips that I really haven't heard anyone else talking about just yet. So I know you're going to learn a ton in just these few minutes we have together today. Number one, reel in your goal. Every year I hear online business owners tell me by the end of the year I'm gonna have 10,000 subscribers on my list or whatever the number of subscribers is. I'm so excited for you to have big, big goals. Seriously, I love goals. The problem is when you make ginormous goals like 10,000, when you're only at 100 today, it's a ridiculously long time frame, like a whole year. You wind up having no idea what you should be doing today in order to get where you want to be. Right. Your goals have to be realistic, specific, and that one's certainly measurable. If you've been following my steps for a while, you know that I'm a big advocate for a 90 day plan. 90 day planning solves the problem of making too big of goals over too much time. Because 90 days is a much, much more manageable time frame and you can get a lot done in a short amount of time. You really zero in and focus. I bet you have an easier time picturing yourself in 90 days rather than a year, right? It's much closer time frame. Everybody should have a 90 day list building goal for their business. Once you have a 90 day goal, you can break it down into a 60, a 30 day and then maybe even a 10 day, a two day, a five day goal so you can take immediate action steps right away. Once you have your goal in place, you can host an event. My biggest strategy for building the Nice Socks list has been hosting an online event on Facebook. I figured that everyone's hanging out on Facebook anyway, right? So why not make it a productive party and meet people where they're at? When you do an online event, make sure to keep it structured. When people come to your party, they're expecting to get free drinks and finger foods meet their expectations. In business terms, the free drinks and finger foods come in the form of free content and tips and tricks. Tricks One of the biggest bonuses of hosting a Facebook event is that they create buzz around a specific event, which isn't always true with your opt in in general or your free offer on your blog. When you host an event on Facebook, you invite all of your readers to join and then you tell your readers to invite their friends. Then you market it and you tell other people and there's sort of a buzz that gets going about your party. When it's an open party that everyone can join and there are no limits to the number of people you can have at your party on Facebook, Just keep reminding the people of the party of the benefits of signing up for your list so they don't leave the party empty handed. It's always fun to go home with some party favors. Number three Launch a New Surprise. Whenever you launch a website, a product, a blog, whatever you're launching, make sure to promote the bejesus out of it. Use this opportunity to create buzz around your business and your brand. You arouse people's curiosity when you tell them you have something exciting exciting in store, something new coming. When they know to expect something new from you, they'll keep their eye out for it and will be more likely to jump on your email list in order to stay informed and get more details so they don't miss it. You can create a free ebook that solves a specific problem that your audience has, for example, and then share it with groups of people online who would be interested in that solution. Number four Be vulnerable and engage people in a very real way. Okay, so this is when 99% of online business owners get scared. And I have to admit I did for a long time too. But I've got to tell you, blog posts written from an honest and vulnerable place are more likely to go viral. Crazy videos where you're standing on your head delivering the message resonate because people crave real. And when you're real with people, you create a deeper connection with them. You create a bond and begin to build an honest relationship. They're more likely to trust you if they can see who you really are. Every time you make yourself vulnerable, you're going to feel a tinge of fear. I can guarantee it. But don't worry, you don't have to get all naked with your emotions every time you write a blog post or an article or create a video. But I do suggest you try at least once to see what happens. Ultimately, I think you'll see people are more excited to sign up for your email list and engage as a part of your community when they can say, heck yeah, I love this chick. Alright, that was a lot of information for one quick video. How about we go over the four never before heard list building tips? Number one reel in your goal. Make a 90 day list building goal instead of a year long goal. Number two Host an event on Facebook. They're a ton of fun. I want an invite. Number three Launch a new surprise. And number four get naked with your vulnerability. You can keep your clothes on. Alright gorgeous. Did you enjoy this video as much as I did? I love my co host today.
