NiceOps Live w/ Kimberly Riggins

Amber McCue talks with Kimberly Riggins about money archetypes and how understanding them can improve how you run your business, communicate with your team, and delegate work based on what you're actually good at.
Hi everyone. We are live at Nice Apps Live with Kimberly Riggins. Our guest today. Nice Ops Live just to give a little intro is about a bi weekly web show where we talk with experts in different areas of business on how you can improve running your business. Because that's what Nice Apps is all about, how to run your business better so you can have more impact and give back more. So Kimberly is here with us today and I am so thrilled. She actually reached out to me. I've known Kimberly for a long, long time, maybe five years now through online communities. We met actually in a program of Marie Forleo's Virtual Mastery and we stayed connected through then. We've had some commonalities but in the last year we've really both sort of shifted and really gotten into our personal zones of genius. And I'm so excited about what Kimberly is doing now. She reached out to me and said, hey, you've got this outsourcing thing that you're pretty passionate about how to clone yourself. I think that I've got something that could help people uncover what they should outsource or how they should think about what they do in their business versus what they should think about outsourcing and really looking for the fastest and the faster path to making money. So again, you can have more impact and give back more. So, Kimberly, thank you so much for being here.
Well, thank you for having me. It's a pleasure as always.
So I'm going to let you, I gave a little bit of an intro but I'll let you give a background on like what are you doing with people these days?
Oh wow. What am I not doing with people these days? As thrill? Yeah, yeah. I do a little bit of everything to be honest with you. But my latest passion. Why don't I just start there? My latest passion is really about. And before I do that, let me premise. Typically how I work is I usually end up coaching on things that I have had very much these crazy ass experiences with and have had things that I was a body image coach for a really long time and I had body image problems and I worked with eating disorders and I had an eating disorder and I worked with people's inner stories and relationship stories and I still do very much that work almost all the time. I look at every person that I coach, every person that I work with from a very holistic point of view because how you do one thing is how you do everything. But my latest passion is really, I did a lot of work on my own money stuff. And what ended up happening was I fell in love and I learned something called your sacred money archetypes. And when I found out I could have an opportunity to teach it, I was, like, all over it, because I took every money class that I possibly could get my hands on over the last three years. And I always left feeling very disempowered. And I always felt like, seriously, like, I just spent money on that, and I'm supposed to be learning about money and I'm hearing the same thing. And I walk away feeling like, what the hell is wrong with me? Like, something is wrong with me. I cannot figure this out. And for those of you who don't know me, I've experienced a ton of financial hits. You know, I went through a bankruptcy, a foreclosure. I lost my house, and I had lots of money, and then I had no money, and I had lots of things, and then I had no things. So there was this, like, very huge ebb and flow. And it wasn't a constant balance. It was kind of like a high hit and a low drop and a high hit and a low drop, and I just really needed to figure it out. And once I learned my money archetypes, it was like the whole universe started to shift for me. And I still get goosebumps when I talk about it because it's just like, holy crap. It's like, this describes who I am. And then I started relating it to my relationships, because, let's face it, we fight about two things on a romantic level, right? Sex and money. I mean, of course there's other things, but the two major things that create divorces are sex and money. So once you can learn your language and understand, like, wow, I speak a language that perhaps my partner doesn't speak, or, you know, I speak a language that my family doesn't speak, or why do my kids not understand when I saw, say, I have this conversation with them about money? Well, your kids most likely don't have the same language as you. And so then I started realizing that, oh, wow, you can actually take this into your business. So everyone, when you're running a business and you're looking for clients, there's a couple things that you want. You want. The client wants to be seen, heard, and understood. So what better way when you're in a sales conversation, to see them, hear them, and understand them, not just from a surface level, but from a deep language level. Because my clients or my prospective clients start to talk to me, and I can pick up words based on this money language that I immediately Know what their objections are going to be, if there is any, and what they have issues around. And then I can actually distill it down into every facet of their life and almost figure out that they have communication issues with their husband around money or they have communication around talking about money in general, or they just don't even want to talk about it at all, or money as a concept for them doesn't exist. And it's pretty like the more I've done it, the more I can really just pull it out of people. And then there's also a piece of outsourcing and things like that, which we'll get into. But yeah, that's really what I've been focusing on. Just the last couple of months I was doing a lot of private work with people. Then there's also a piece of outsourcing and things like that, which we'll get into. But yeah, that's really what I've been focusing on. Just the last couple of months I was doing a lot of private work with people behind the scenes just to test some of my theories out. And now I'm kind of bringing it out into the world and I use it every day. I mean, I literally rely on my archetypes to pretty much make all my decisions now. And it's been extremely eye opening and it's changed the way I run my business and it's changed the way I communicate with people in my life.
Okay, so how has it changed the way you run your business?
The way it's changed the way I run my business is because each archetype, and by the way, there's eight of them, each archetype actually has a specific business set of skills that they are extremely strong in. And then so we all focus, we're a piece of each archetype essentially. But the top three are what we call, or what I call your money motivators. They are what drive you. They are what creates your success or your not success in business based on these strengths and, or weaknesses. But if we use, if we know what the business strengths are, we can figure out what we should be doing in our business or what we can. We don't always have to do what we're good in, right? But what we can do in our business, and then there's going to be business tasks that you should never touch, ever. And things that you should be getting help, getting coached on outsourcing directly and just kind of, kind of doing this and like letting your hands go of it and saying, okay, I need help. And taking those risks and taking those leaps of faith and really believing that when you actually have someone else help you that has that strength, that then you can actually grow your business exponentially.
That's awesome. So I'm going to pause here and let people know, for anyone that's viewing, if you haven't taken this quiz yet, to learn your, what did we call it? The money type or the money.
They're just archetypes. They're money archetypes. I kind of coin it as your money language because there's always a different combination. There's so many combinations of how they show up in your life. And so I just kind of encompassed it and said, this is going to be your money language.
Okay, awesome. So people haven't taken that yet. They can go get that quiz. I just put the link in the chat and it's a long one. I'll give everyone the long link for anyone that's viewing elsewhere, but it's ambermchugh leadpages.net niceopslive n I c e o p s live again, it's amber mchugh.leadpages.net. niceopslive so I don't usually say that URL. I should probably get something else. I don't have to use it. Usually I'm thinking, oh, everybody's got it already. But because we are doing this quiz, they need a place to go get it. So there's the long link to go scoop that up for people. Because I took that quiz and we talked about it and you were like, you knew. You totally knew. My top archetypes are romantic, ruler and connector. And like, way at the bottom of my list was prime. And I'm just going to tell everyone so then you can line this all up. But I love to perform. I love engaging with people and audiences and facilitating and training and acting on stage. But I have a resistance to doing that because something I have an aversion to is people thinking I want to do that because I want the attention. And we had talked a little bit about, like, I've had people in my life who love the attention and that's just not something that turns me on at all. So I don't want people to think because of this celebrity or she wants to be on stage, oh, she's just going after attention. Look at her. So I have a resistance to putting myself out there in a big way. And the PR stuff we talked about, which you zoomed in on before anything, it was so cool.
Yeah, yeah. Usually what you have Most resistance doing is going to be your last archetype. So the very last one. So we basically number them from one to eight, one being the top, eight being the last. And so when I work with a private client, or, you know, I did, when I did with you, is like, I really honed in on the fact that I already saw some resistance coming up. And you can take a lot of information from the last archetype. And those are the things that when you get stuck in a rut or you, you know, you need some shifting in your business or you need to, like, level up. You can look at the GIFs of your last archetype and you can usually see where you need to go. And you may not be able to see it, which not everyone can see it, but I can see it. So that's when I knew I was like, you need to step on stage with 100,000 people, and you need to leave the mindset behind that you're doing it. You think people are going to care that you're doing it for the spotlight? You need to be in the spotlight. That's one of your strengths. That's actually the piece of your last archetype that you actually shine in. And if you're dimming that light, you're killing business. Not necessarily overall, but you're going to be leaving money on the table and you're not even going to know it.
Yeah.
Think about it. How many more people could you bring into your business? How many more people could take how to clone yourself if you spoke to 200,000 people on the stage that had bright ass lights shining on your face? Right.
It sounds so fun to me, but it's just like the going through. And we talked about this too. Like, the going through to get it. I'm experiencing resistance the whole way, but once I'm there walking up on a stage or like I spoke at Spark and Hustle last month and I thought I was going to be nervous, but no, when I got on stage, I'm like, oh, this is free. I love these people.
Yeah. The thing that you have to remember, though, is because it's your last archetype, it's not your strength in terms of business tasks. So this is something that you would outsource, have someone else line you up for these events. So you're not actually doing the steps to get yourself there. You have someone working on that to get you there. So all you have to do is show up with your brilliance, because that's where the overwhelm is going to set in and you're going to be like, oh, my God, I can't do this, because it's not comfortable for you to reach out and say, hey, can I be on your TV show? Or, hey, can I be on your stage? Because you're thinking, oh, my God, they didn't ask me. I'm asking them, and they're gonna think I want to hog the spotlight. And that's not true necessarily, but it's not something that is necessarily innate in you. You like to be on the stage, but you don't like the process of getting yourself there. Yeah, that's where you hire a PR person to do all that stuff for you.
And then I'm so curious. There are people in my life I'm thinking through now, like Erin Giles, and I do a lot of collaborating, and she is a rock star. For anyone that doesn't know her, she speaks about your movement, like, creating a movement. And she is such a rock star reaching out and getting pr, and she's trying to, like, walk me. I'm like, can you just do it? Like, of course. I'm addicted to outsourcing, so I don't.
Want to do it.
I have no interest. And, well, that's why.
That's why my guess is. I mean, I know Erin really well. I've not talked to her about her money archetypes, but my guess is celebrity falls somewhere high on her list because she does have that strength, and I've seen her up on stage, and she shines. So I'm guessing that she has that somewhere in her top three. Yeah, it's definitely not her last one.
I'm making it, take it. And it's great thinking from an outsourcing perspective. Two thoughts are coming to mind. Number one, you should be outsourcing those things that you're not good at. I take my own advice, and I trust the people that I bring into my life. Like, Victoria's on this chat right now. Victoria Prosen. My design work for me. And she's like, what do you think? I trust you. I don't know. I do not have a stake in this. I don't have a point of view one way or the other. I outsourced and engaged you as a strategic business partner, and that worked out awesome. So I do the same thing around pr, and I actually. It's funny, around the time we were talking, I was talking to someone, and I hired her to help me get some stuff out. So I'm taking those steps. And the other thing that's coming to mind is for people that you collaborate with a lot, it's probably not a bad idea to go through this process with them. And like Myers Briggs. Right. You understand, okay, this is why she doesn't want to get on a call with 100 people. Like, she's a high introvert. Or she's always talking and thinking out loud. She's a high extrovert. And you start to understand and you can learn how you can collaborate with people better. Do you find that that helps in terms of dynamics when you have people, you know, taking them?
Yeah. You know what's funny is I've actually considered this because I had some entrepreneur come to me the other day and she said, you know, I absolutely loved working with you, and you opened my eyes to so many things. And she's like, I wonder if you'd work with my team and help me find out what they are and see what their strengths are. Because I have a lot of resistance with some of them and we're not communicating as effectively as we could. And I thought. I never thought about doing that. But, yes, I think it's really important. I think when I look for someone to help me with anything anymore, I don't necessarily even have to give them a quiz. I can get really good idea of who they are really quickly. But if I'm going to hire them full time, like, as I grow my business, I plan on having people doing things more full time. And those people will be required before I hire them to take it. So I know exactly what they are. So not only that, but I can also. I'm a ruler. So I want everyone to grow. And so if anyone's going to work in my empire, then I want to make sure that I can make them grow just as much as I do. Right. Because that's just who I am. I'm a nurturer. I'm a ruler, alchemist, nurturer. So that is just who I am from the core of my being.
That's awesome.
I want people to thrive. No one gets to play the victim in my life. And you all have to push yourself, but it's in a good space. It's not like I'm not saying I believe that you can do it. I surround myself with people that I believe have the potential to really move things in the world. And so knowing their archetypes, pulling them and having them take this is just essential because, number one, you can speak to them more effectively. Number two, you can actually give them projects that you know they're going to do a better job than you. And that's really important for me because rulers tend to be a little bit of control freaks and it's really hard for me to let things go. But now that I know this, it's been so much easier. That doesn't mean I don't tweak things and I don't see things because I'm still like that kind of person. But there's certain things that I just don't want to touch at all.
Okay. So let's. I'm with you on that. There are certain things that I don't want to and I should not be touching. And every time I pick those certain things back up that I know like should have done that. Just follow the process or the system that you have set up. It's constant.
Yeah, I've done that too. I still do it. I still find myself wanting something done yesterday and I'll do it. And then I'm thinking, why did I just waste three hours of my time? I still do it too.
Yeah. Constant learning. We'll get there. We'll get there. I tried, actually. How? So we had two readings lined up and fortunately is on our line, but we can't hear her. So Christina, actually, if you typed your stuff into the chat, actually we could get her types there. I'll.
Yeah, tell her to send the top three. Just type in the top three.
Okay, cool. Yeah, Christina, if you send in the top three, there's a chat in the Google hangout. You can just put them there and.
Then on the line.
A couple of people are adding up their scores and their quizzes now. So we might have some other ones to talk about. But what's like. I was thinking we could just like pick a couple and you could kind of describe what they are and how it works.
Okay, so let's use Christina since she put it in the chat already and I can see that.
Great.
So, okay, so she is a connector ruler celebrity. Alright. So I'm just gonna actually. Because I usually go into a lot of detail with people. So I'm just gonna throw like a couple things that are really prevalent in most connectors that I see, most rulers that I see and most celebrities that I see. So a connector, they all have these nicknames that just helps you remember kind of. It encompasses your personality traits. So Connectors are interrelationship creators. They're all about relationships. So money as a concept for connectors is just really not. It's not in existence. Like they would rather never think about money. They would rather have someone else take Care of them kind of. It encompasses your personality traits. So connectors are interrelationship creators. They're all about relationships. So money as a concept for connectors is just really not. It's not. It's. It's not in existence. Like they would rather never think about money. They would rather have someone else take care of them if they could. Like, those are the people that secretly want sugar daddies or sugar mamas, right? They're just like, just take care of the bills. Just let me. Tell me where I have to show up and let me be, you know, my fun loving self, right? That's a connector. They just. They're not. It doesn't. It's not even an innate ability like numbers for them. They just like numbers. They're typically not math nerds either. If they could. Like those are the people that secretly want sugar daddies or sugar mamas, right? They're just like, just take care of the bills. Just let me. Tell me where I have to show up and let me be my fun loving self, right? That's a connector. They just. They're not. It doesn't. It's not an innate ability like numbers for them. They just don't like numbers. They're typically not math nerds either. So if you ask them like what subjects they liked in school, math would probably not be one of them either. Science either. Honestly, they may have enjoyed it, but they would never teach it, right? Typically everything is based on relationships for them. So let me just give you an example. In a marriage, if you have a connector as the wife and the husband is not a connector, what will happen is if the husband is getting into this space where he's arguing with his wife about money, she'll take it so personally that she'll think there's a disconnect in her marriage. When the truth is he's just frustrated about money. It has nothing to do with their marriage. But she doesn't think like that because she comes from a place of everything is a connection to me. So connecting with people is connecting with money. So connecting with her kids is connecting with money. Connecting with her husband is connecting with her job. It's all ever evolving with connectors. Does that make sense?
Yeah, it does. I'm just thinking through some scenarios in my life where this applies to connector. And I have a question for you about this. I recently said to my husband, and I'm getting back into my money, but while I was pregnant, we talked about this. I was drained and I could not spend the money. So I'm like, please, you have to take the budget back. And he's not great at it. He's also a connector, and I think he's got maverick in there. So he's got some things that he just doesn't do well with this. He's like, the guy. Drinks on me, everybody.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, That's.
But I've talked to him recently. I'm like, we really need to outsource the management of our money. From a business perspective, like, I want to know the financials, and from a household budget perspective, I love having a budget. I want to know. But I don't want to be in the weeds on it. I just want to know here's what it is. Or do analysis if something's off. Like, because I've got a strategic mindset, so I want to reset if it's not working and know enough to be able to do that. I don't need to pay the bills. So that's typical of a connector.
Oh, God, yeah. Absolutely. You don't want to have anything to do with money. Yeah. I mean, if you can outsource your money, I mean, but there's a ruler in you too, which I know. And so your ruler needs to see things and needs to, like, okay things and, like, be like, yeah, sign off on that and say, yeah, go ahead, do it. But what you want is you want someone to do your finances who's an accumulator.
Yeah.
And, yeah, you want an accumulator to do your finances, and you want an accumulator who also has ruler in her so she understands you. Because if she's an accumulator and doesn't have ruler in her, you guys are not going to mesh.
Okay. She needs to have accumulator.
She needs to understand. Yeah. I would say an accumulator one ruler second, or vice versa. But I would rather see an accumulator first, ruler second. She'll be a really. Your finances will feel very safe, which is what you need it to. As a connector that will drive you. You want your money to be safe. Your ruler wants your money to be safe, but you want to know it's there, and you want to know that you have it at your disposal so you can invest in your business.
Yes, exactly. Yeah. And I want to. What I've said to my husband in the past is, I want to be able to, like, buy the pair of jeans or buy that cute shirt when I see it in the store. Like, don't.
Don't. You have romantic in you? You have romantic in you. Don't.
You?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's your romantic speaking. So when you hire somebody, a bookkeeper or a financial advisor or whatever you want to call her, you need to set up a fund that's called the amber fund, and you have a certain percentage of money that goes into the amber fund. So that's your money, your pleasure money, that you get to go do that with nobody else knowing about it. So there's not a discussion with your husband. He can have one too. But it's really important for you to continue to thrive if you work hard and you work all the time, which your ruler usually does. And you're all about relationships with every person in your business, which your whole business is about relationships. So we don't need to talk about that anymore. But you need to make sure you feed your romantic, which means you get to have fun, too, while you're doing it. And having fun for you is, I want to go out and buy that pair of jeans.
Yeah, exactly. Okay. Okay. So we got a little bit off track because Christina does not have romantic. But that'll be good for the other people.
Yeah, well, of course. Absolutely. Yes. So ruler. Yeah. So let's go to ruler, and if anyone wants any more details, they can always reach out to me and I can help them out. So ruler rulers are cool because, well, we're both rulers. So I have to say that right now, rulers. Rulers are very fascinating people. They are the inner empire builders. So typically, what I have found is that most entrepreneurs have ruler in their top three. If they don't, that doesn't mean you can't have a business. It just means that it's not your everyday focus. Rulers, their whole life is involved around building something, building an empire, creating change on the planet. They often walk around thinking things like, how can I make more money today? Not from a place of greed, but from a place of I want to impact not just one person. I want to impact hundreds, thousands, millions of people with what I have to offer. They're also really passionate. I mean, you can tell I talk with my hands, and I'm very loud. I get really loud sometimes, and I get goosebumps. I always teach something I'm really passionate about because that's just. That feeds my ruler on a regular basis. I mean, she just needs that all the time. Now, there's a couple caveats about rulers. They get shit done. I mean, they take on a project and they do it start to finish. They are big picture people. They see, they have, like this big vision. They're not so great at details. I mean, we like to think we are, but we're really not. We need to have people in place that helps us pick things out that we forget about because we see the beginning and we see the end and we see it happening and that's great. But the little details in between piss us off. And we're like, seriously, this happens. And like, I need this fixed now. That's kind of a rule or trait. They often, you know, they are very functional human beings, but I have to say they're double edged sword because they can become their worst enemy. They work too much, they very rarely take vacations, they skip meals. I've been doing that a lot lately. What else do rulers do? They are serial entrepreneurs. So typically what happens is you will find a ruler that either has 2, 3, 4, 5 projects going on at the same time, or they actually have more than one business. And that's very typical of a ruler. What else can I tell you about.
A ruler that have multiple projects going on like that? How should they balance them or what type of a person should they partner with when it comes to the money archetypes to make sure that everything sort of stays in check?
Well, it's good to have alchemist. Well, that's catch 22. So rulers need an alchemist in their life if they don't have alchemist in their top three. And an alchemist is all about big ideas. They usually are able to look at an idea and turn it into money. They're like gold in your back pocket. You always want an alchemist in your funnel of people that you can mastermind with, because they can see an idea and they can see these things about your idea and they can show you how to make money out of it. It's funny because people who are alchemists, they tend to have trouble doing it for themselves, but they're fantastic at doing it for other people. I am a ruler, alchemist, nurturer, so I can help other people build their business. And then when it comes to me, my alchemist has way too many ideas and she puts them all out there at the same time. And my ruler has to follow through. So I'm usually like running around with my head cut off, which does not serve me, by the way. So who do I really need in my life? I do. I need to play with my maverick a bit because I need to take risks, but I need to take clear cut risks like which one of these projects is going to be the most beneficial, not only for me financially, but for the world. How can I create the biggest impact and still make a living? And just learning to do one thing at a time and just being not safe. That's not the right word, but being a little bit more on point. So I would say an accumulator or a maverick would be more helpful to that because accumulator is definitely not taking on huge, big projects. They will always weigh the pros and the cons because from a financial point of view, they're all about saving money. And if they make it, they want to put it in the bank account. So they're not going to want you to take on risky projects. But then that's where your maverick would come in and say, no, that's actually going to be really fruitful for you. Just start with that one. Don't write a book and start a movement and start four programs at the same time.
Does that ring a bell?
Yes, that's me.
Actually.
I didn't give you like I started book did a magazine, launched a program and started a nonprofit within a year's time. So, I mean, you can see that my ruler and alchemist are totally taking over. And I had to do some damage control, but it all ended up working out.
So yeah, it is working really well. Okay, so Christina is saying that she is in awe because she said in our comments behind the scenes. So I want to also. What was her last? I had them up.
Her last was celebrity. Oh, celebrity. Celebrities are fun people. Fun people. I'm not a celebrity, so I love hanging out with celebrities. They're the inner big shots. And so celebrities are such kick ass people because they're like fun. They're the people you want to go shopping with. Why? Because they love to buy things and they never feel guilty about it ever. They typically also have a lot of debt though, so that's not necessarily a good thing. So you might not want a husband or a wife as a celebrity because they'll spend all your money. But no, they love money. They have a great appreciation for it. They love to spend it. They will find themselves in massive amounts of debt. What I have found about celebrities is they really have a lot of faith in money. So they could have $10 to their bank account and they'll just say things like, oh, it's okay, you know, like in a couple weeks it'll come flowing back in and I would be freaking out. I would, I like have heart palpitations for them. And as you can tell, ruler, alchemists, nurturers, they don't like to have $10 in the bank account. But celebrities don't care. They're just like. And they would spend the $10. They would spend 8 of those $10 on a new shirt if they want. If they wanted it bad enough. And they would live off, too, for the next two weeks, knowing full well that something would come in. It's just interesting like that they're really charismatic. They have magnetic personalities. I mean, celebrities are the ones that you'll see that just, like, they'll get out in public and they'll just start singing and not give a crap what people think. They just. They want the limelight. They like the limelight. They need attention. I mean, it tends to make them feel worthy. Now, that's not necessarily a good thing. I mean, most celebrities I've worked with, I have to teach that, you know, obviously you're worthy because you exist on the planet. You don't need other people's attention to serve you in that way. However, you can use your celebrity status to your advantage. A lot of celebrities are big on things like nice cars, fancy houses. You know, they will. They will buy things of great quality. It's about, you know, a lot of them like to keep up with the Joneses, Even though they may not like to admit that that doesn't mean they're bad people. They cannot. They have the potential to make so much money if they would just learn to just take it back down a notch and just have the financial. Creating financial security for celebrity is utmost importance, you know, so getting that under control and making big, bold money goals and reaching them first before you go on your spending spot. Freeze. But they're fun people to be with.
This is awesome. Christina put in the comments. She's like, I'm dying over here. My husband is exactly the opposite. She was in 10k in debt when she met him. Totally understands how he helped her get out of debt. This is awesome.
Yes. Yes.
This is so cool. And, Christina, I really got to thank you for letting us play a little bit here and for you to open up on this stuff because it is like people are uncomfortable talking about money. And actually, I interviewed Louis Schiff about a week ago. I think it was last week. Yeah. And he's the author of a book called Business brilliant, where he compared millionaire and billionaire mindsets to middle class mindsets. And I said, a lot of people are uncomfortable with talking about money. He said, not business. Brilliant people. Not the people that are, like, playing at the top of their game, making millions, making billions. We've got to get comfortable with it, especially as business owners.
You know what I recognize about that and really where it shifted for me was the fact that I think the number one thing that you have to do when you talk about money is just get truthful, be truthful about where you are. I know people are like, oh crap, I'm in so much debt. Well, just own up to that. Own the fact that you have $20,000 in credit card debt because you can only move up from there. But if you're going to sit there and lie to yourself and say, I have no debt and it's, you know, you have these credit cards, you pretend that don't exist and you hide them in the, you know, the drawer in your kitchen cabinet that's overstuffed with bills. You're not going to grow your business from that perspective. I mean, you could. I'm not saying that you can't have some growth, but once you get honest about where you are and just embrace who you are, embrace that. Every archetype has good and bad qualities, has strengths and gifts. The gifts are always going to outweigh the strengths if you know how to use them to your advantage. Most people that come to me, you know, they're uncomfortable talking about money. I used to be uncomfortable talking about money. I used to like want to crawl into a fetal position. And now I like talking about it all the time. And it doesn't matter. It's not even, it's not even like I, by no means am I a millionaire, but it's just that it's all in your mind. It's all how you perceive it. It's all just know. Like money is just an idea. It's just, yes, we have paper currency and coins that we use for exchange, but there's no energy, there's no emotional energy attached to it. It is an energy. It's a form of energy. It flows and ebbs and goes and comes, but it doesn't have an emotional attachment to it. We provide all the crazy ass emotional attachments and we're the one who have the love hate relationship with it or the non existent relationships with it. It's not the money, it's us.
Yeah. So I could totally resonate with this and I was actually Victoria and I talked earlier this week. Her name pop a couple times. We talked earlier and I was talking about how like I don't care. I will talk about my money. I will talk about dollars and the cents and share and I'm super curious to know about other people's money situation. And I worked in HR For a long time. So I could kind of see what was happening there. And I kind of knew, oh, okay. Yeah, that's what this. This role is valued at or this type of work is valued at. And I'm just fascinated by the whole model. But I hold back a little bit in talking about it because I know it can make people feel uncomfortable. So does it make any one of the types more uncomfortable than another? I guess. Well, connectors, but I'm not.
Connectors are the most uncomfortable talking about money. Nurturers don't like to talk about it either. They usually. They usually are. They're usually people who. They use money to be of service. Do you mean is that. Wait a minute.
Or no. That was awesome. I was just thinking we have. Nurturer is one of the ones we haven't talked about. And someone on the chat roll on the other screen has a nurturer in her. So I definitely want to know.
Yeah, nurturers are. They are like, their highest desire is to be of service. They're all about helping other people. And so oftentimes, like, nurturers have a total good. They have a great relationship with money. They're even great savers. What ends up happening, and the caveat for them is they tend to give their money to other people or they'll be the first. If someone comes to them and says, hey, I'm in a jam, they will lend them people money, and they don't have it to lend necessarily, or they'll often find themselves putting themselves in debt. Not just because, not just financially, but they're the ones that undercharge in their business. They're the ones that most definitely give away too much time. They will give away too many bonuses. They will go beyond the call of duty to make someone happy. And so what they leave wide open is to be taken advantage of. And so that kind of stinks. But at the same time, you know, being of service, hello, that's like, if you're a coach, to be of service is highly important, right? I mean, you come from heart, which is important. Nurtures come from heart. They mean. Well, they're beautiful, beautiful people, but they tend to get themselves into jams, and it's usually because of someone else. They'll give away their shirt off their back. They're the shirt off the back kind of people. It's like, if you're cold, then you can have my sweater, you know? So they will do that with their finances as well. A lot of nurturers who have their finances under control are really Big philanthropists. They will be giving money to causes. I have nurture as my third, so I know her really, really well.
Renee also has. She's got nurturer, connector, ruler and Romantic, and then accumulator and Maverick are her bottom two. And she made some very awesome comments in the chat. She got on Mint and saw how much debt that she's got and just she was very upset by it. And I don't know what the I like it, I'll try to avoid it was about, but who should come into her life?
Who can.
What does she need? Or how to sort of shift your mindset to tackle that debt based on. Based on the topic.
Tell me what she is again. What are her top three? Just tell me her top three.
Nurturer, connector, ruler.
Okay, well, given her top three, I would say that her ruler needs to kind of like get out a whip or a baseball bat realistically and kind of like lay down some laws. Nurturers are terrible with money boundaries. Nurturers are really terrible with all boundaries. So the ruler needs to come up and set new ones and really follow through with them. So she actually needs. I don't know if she runs a business or not, but whatever she does, I mean, it would be very advantageous of her to create a mastermind of people or reach out to a coach or someone who is going to keep her accountable to making new money boundaries because it's really important. And one of her money boundaries has to be, I will not spend any more frivolous money until I set myself up on a debt management plan. And that could look like various things. I mean, literally, I think the best debt management plan I've ever seen and the one that I always have used in the past is, you know, figure out how much debt you're in, admit that you have it, and then look at each debt, pay the minimum on some of them because most people have credit card debt. So. And then what can you actually afford extra that you can put towards the first one? And we're talking about the highest, the lowest amount first because we need success. So it's like if you have a credit card that you have $300 on, you have a credit card that has $7,000 on, you want to pay off the $301 first, but then you need to freeze it or cut it up or give it to somebody to hold so you don't go in that direction and spend again. I don't think she has that problem. I mean, nurturer, connector, it's not that she's giving. She might be giving her money away to other people, but it's not from a place of, I need more things, I need more things. I need more things. And if she is doing that, then she's somewhat out of alignment and we need to kind of make some adjustments. But she has to learn to take care of herself in ways that don't cost money. So that's the other thing. Nurturers are terrible, terrible caretakers for themselves. They're great caretakers for others, but they don't spend enough time really fueling themselves. And so when we think of taking care of ourselves, women especially think of, well, I'll go get a manicure, I'll go get a pedicure. Well, that all costs money. So what can you do as a nurturer? What can you do that can nurture your body from head to toe, mentally, physically, emotionally? That costs nothing at all. And so that's where you can get creative and you can get innovative and use your imagination to come up with some really fun things. And I always tell nurturers to remember what you were like as a child. Choose some of those things to do. You need more fun in your life that doesn't involve cash flow. And that will actually help with your connector, too, by the way. And your ruler needs that anyway, because your ruler is always so strict about work, work, work.
This is awesome. And Renee put in the comments, you, I tend to give my money away or give her savings away.
Yeah, don't do that.
Don't do it.
Here's the big question for her. So the big challenge for Renee is going to be, how can you support someone else? How can you be of service to those people without financially breaking your bank account and see what comes up. So really dig deep into that and say, because usually nurturers give away their money because they want to help, but it's also because they have this innate feeling of they want to feel needed, they want to feel loved, they want to feel useful. And so how can you be useful, feel needed and loved without giving your money to someone? There is many, many answers to that question. What ends up happening is if you give your money away as a nurturer and they keep coming back for more, you've just enabled them. You're not helping that person by giving them out of a jam. Why don't you empower them to figure it out on their own? Or if you need to give them money, don't give them all and make them, you know, come up with a plan where they can Earn the rest of it so they can get themselves out of their own jam. And I know that kind of sucks at first and it feels not so fun, but you'll actually be more of a service to them by doing that than you will be by just handing it over and forgetting about it.
Yeah.
Say that again.
I'm typing, obviously. Google Hangout, just for anyone who doesn't know if you're typing and it notices it, it mutes you. So you're totally.
I know. So you're talking and I'm like, what?
Typing some of the notes from the conversation there. They're good questions. So I'm just going to peek back to the list here. We've gone through nurture. Oh, maverick. We didn't hit on that one too much. We hit it for a second and this is the one I thought, oh, my husband, when we were talking about he's got to be a celebrity, but he was actually a maverick. So are they similar?
Well, no. Well, not really. They're not actually. But there's some similar personality traits. So when you were talking about your husband, it did make sense to me. Mavericks take risks. They don't have a problem with financial complexity. They don't have a problem spending money. So, yes, from that perspective, they're very much like a celebrity. Does he have romantic in him? Oh, shoot.
What does he have? I have this saved somewhere, I think.
Okay, yeah, Connector. So his money, like when you say he goes to a bar and he wants to, like, buy everyone drinks, that's his connector wanting to connect with people. It's not anything to do with being in the limelight. He just wants people to, like, come to him because he needs that. That's how he thrives. And so he has. And from a maverick perspective, you know, to throw money at strangers essentially, is what he does by asking to buy everybody a drink. That's the risk in him. Right. Many mavericks, you know, they're fascinated by money. They tend to be. They're actually called rebel with a cause. So they're very rebel ish. They like to. To do things their way. They'll have tried and true methods sitting in front of them and they will do something different. They kind of beat by the sound of their own drum, which is funny because, you know, it is my last one, but that's the piece that I resonate with. I've never done things the right way. I've always done the things the way I want to do things. So you find yourself resonating with at least one aspect of every Single archetype. But what I don't resonate with is like, I don't take huge risks. Financial risks. Oh, absolutely not. I play it safer. I'm not a gambler. I would not. Most mavericks will get into a situation where it will be like, okay, if I give $3,000, I have the potential to make 3 million. They would absolutely throw the money down and not think about it. Me, I'd be like, oh, absolutely not. I worked hard for that three grand. I don't care if I have the 50% chance of making 3 million. That's only 50% chance. I need like a 95% chance. They're attracted to get rich opportunities. You'll often find that they're in network marketing jobs or careers, which there's nothing wrong with that. I mean, I know a lot of people who are in network marketing that make a crap load of money, but that comes with risk. They do like to stand out in the crowd. They're all about winning and about the thrill. So often you'll find mavericks on a personal level, they'll be the people that, if they're not doing it already, they're the people who are like, I would love to go zip lining or jumping off a bridge or hang gliding or they like adventure, so whatever adventure looks like to them. So if they're not doing it, they should be, because that's a disconnect for them. But if you ask them and they're not currently doing it, I'm guessing almost, I'm guessing that they dream about it frequently and they're just not telling you. Yeah, they often like to be rebellious as well. So they don't cave in the opinions of others. So they're the people that you kind of want when you're making some decisions that you know are going to piss people off. Like in a corporation environment, you want a maverick in your pocket because they will be able to tell someone like to a large corporation, like, this is how it's going to happen and you're just going to have to deal with it because they have no remorse about that because they don't care what other people think. They just want. That's it. This is what's going on and this is how it's going to happen and everyone else is just going to have to adjust. So from a corporation standpoint, you can see where they would be really useful in a big meeting where everyone gets all emotional.
I love this stuff. And even as you were talking like, oh, they need adventure. My husband, he's had some Pretty cool jobs. And right now it's very uncool. It's very normal. And I bet he's like, a little bit.
He's probably yearning for some adventure. Yeah, yeah. Normally, Mavericks will play it safe for a while because they do have two other competing archetypes. But if you really ask them, like, what's your biggest, like, what's your dream? What's, like, too big for your britches? Dreams, it's always going to involve some kind of adventure. Always.
And then the last one I'm going to ask you about is Leah. Am I saying that right? Or Leah?
Leah.
I think Leah L, E A H has romantic as her number one. And we touched on that briefly. But what's your big caution? Or for a romantic, I mean, the word is like, very beautiful, so I know that.
Yeah. Well, think of romantics as the people who like to be pampered, the people who like to live in luxury. They're about extreme experiences. And she's laughing because that's you. Yeah. You create experiences for people. Your whole second business creates an experience for people. It's a very romantic notion. They're not about necessarily buying things they want to have. I keep saying it, but they want to have and create for their clients amazing experiences. They're about ambiance, they're about being pampered, they're about luxury, they're about the finer things in life. Normally, romantics will love to eat well, love to live well, and love to be surrounded by nice things. They don't see a point in saving money, so they often find themselves in debt because they are the people that, you know, a lot of romantics will travel around the world before they actually have the income to do so. They will, you know, go on these lavish vacations and then they'll be like, oh, my God, why did I do that? Now I have no money to pay my bills. They're really great people. They tend to give a lot, so they're really generous. And they tend to be a bit like, they want everyone else to feel like they're luxuriating in, too. So if they come to their house, they're very. They're the greatest. Not house guest. They're the greatest. What am I looking for? When you go to someone, like, they're. They're the greatest party throwers. You know, they're the most inviting people ever because they want to create a lasting experience that someone can watch away with. A lot of customer service representatives should be. They could glean from a romantic. They should be led By a romantic is what I should say.
If I can't create that experience or have an awesome. Like, I just would rather not do it. Like, oh, if this is just an average dinner party, yeah, where's the experience? People ask, where do you want to go out to eat? I'm like, I don't care about the food. What's the environment? What's the atmosphere? So very experienced.
Yeah, exactly. The one thing about a romantic that's interesting that they do walk around thinking when they buy something for themselves or they spend money, they usually have this mentality if they don't have money to spend on it, they'll usually say things to themselves like, well, I deserve it. They're all about deserving. They actually kind of think money is their servant, which could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending upon where you're at with your finances. And they do not like to hear the word no. So from a marital standpoint, if you have a romantic, say the wife, it's typically the wife, at least who I've worked with. Although I do work with a man who's a romantic and he hates to hear the word no. So if he wants to do something and they go to talk about, do we have the money for this? And the other partner says, no, that doesn't sit well with a romantic at all. They want to do what they want to do and that's it. They want that experience, and they will stop at nothing to get that experience. And they'll be pretty innovative to figure out how they can convince the other person to have the experience.
I love that. I was just telling Leah, I hope I'm saying your name right in the comments. She said, if you knew how much money I spent on dinner parties. But it can get expensive and I don't get to have them lot because my husband's a high introvert. So it just gets awkward. He's not into it. So then now it drags me down. But I save, like, my credits for, like, the experience I really want. So, like, can't turn me down. I haven't bugged you about anything in a long time.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Romantics are great savers, but they're great savers for what you just said. So you might not be necessarily talking about money, but romantic school save for a purpose. So if they want that diamond, they will save the money so they can pay cash for the diamond. But then they forget about, like, hey, maybe I should save money so I can retire someday. Or maybe I should save money so I can send my kids to college. Or maybe I should save money in case, like, you know, my refrigerator, my dishwasher and my water heater break. They don't do that because it's not fun. They associate. Their saving money has to be saved for something fun, something that they can enjoy.
Oh, Renee's.
I can't hear what you said.
Oh, sorry. Renee's a romantic, too. Victoria. Check. She's into the experiential stuff, too.
Yeah, I think the only ones we didn't touch on that. I just want to mention quickly for those of you who took the quiz and you're like, well, what about me? So we have two Accumulator and Alchemist we didn't really talk a whole lot about. The accumulator is going to be the inner banker. She is all about saving money. So you probably have a college fund saved for your kids. You probably have a retirement account started already and you're really secure in it. The thing about an accumulator is they tend to be somewhat of a tight wad. So they don't invest in your business. They won't invest in glorious experiences. They're really afraid that someday they're going to be bankrupt or they're going to be poor. They're going to be like, I'm in New York City pushing the little cart with the bags. And that's usually never the case because they usually have way more money than any other archetype in the bank. They also tend to be people that work in industries if they don't run their own business. They tend to be people who are already in the financial industry, whether they're bankers or lawyers or investment bankers or mortgage brokers. They tend to be. They like numbers, right? They always know their numbers. But they tend to be the people at night that, like, sit up and stare at the ceiling and they're like, oh my God, I don't have enough money in my bank account kind of people. And so that kind of gets a little bit hairy because they're the entrepreneurs, by the way, that don't like to invest and help. So they will be do it yourselfers and they will try to do everything by themselves. And it's not because they want to learn it and it's not because they like it. It's because they don't want to spend the money on it. And it typically has nothing to do with the fact that they don't have it. It's usually because they don't want to spend the money on it. So that would be an accumulator they lack trust in every facet of their life. So really when I work with an accumulator, the thing that we do is we look at where did trust not serve you in the past and we clear the energy out for that space. We also take a look at really creating like an opening for not only for you to receive money, because that's not hard for them, it's about creating that flow. So for a lot of, to create a visual picture for you. Accumulators tend to have like a one sided door. So they let the money come in and then they slam the door and they're like, nope, you're not getting back out, you're staying exactly where you are. So that's kind of like the caveat for them. It's interesting, but I would love to have an accumulator in my life though, because I, you know, I like the accumulator. I don't save as much as I probably should, although I have recently. But it was for a purpose and yeah, so we'll see. The alchemist. The alchemists are manifesters. So they are the people who, like I said earlier, you know, they can take an idea and they can turn it into. To money. And they're great at doing with other people. They're also magnificent coaches and brilliant listeners. They tend to be the coaches that everyone wants to work with. And it's because they feel understood, seen, heard. But then they also push because they see gifts in the people that they work with that they can't even see themselves. Which is great, right? You always need someone like that in your corner. And they thrive on other people's success. And like I said, they're natural manifesters. But that's what I mean by that is they need to open up themselves to manifest not just things. Because most alchemists that come to me, they're like, well, I can manifest, you know, a year's worth of rent or a house in the Hamptons that I don't have to pay for for a year, but I have no money in my bank account. And I'm like, yeah, there's a disconnect there. You want to be able to manifest cash. Cash makes the world go round, no matter if you believe that or not. And I know the connectors out there are going, oh, seriously, do I have to think about this? Yes. Unfortunately, money is what makes the world go round. If you want to have those experiences, if you want to buy your things, if you want to build your business, it takes money, right? It just does.
So yeah, as you were saying that I messed up, I looked back at my assessment. Oh, no, this is my husband's. Maybe I'm about to redo this because I was looking. Oh, what am I? And romantic and ruler. That's not him. But accumulator and alchemist are in the number 2 slot here. And connectors number 4 or number 4 slot or number 3. Sorry. Alchemist and accumulator are tied for 3 connectors. 4. I must have messed something up.
You. Now, wait a minute. Let me see. I have your results here somewhere. I thought that was your husband. I thought you said that was your husband's reading.
Yeah, but he does not have ruler in him.
Maybe he just doesn't use it. Maybe he just doesn't use it. Give the man some credit. Don't be mean.
I gotta find this. Yeah, but maybe these are his. But I don't think so.
I don't remember. I can't. I. Yep, you're a romantic. Ruler connector.
That's what I thought. Okay. All right.
Yeah. Romantic ruler connector is what you are.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's beautiful.
So looking for an alchemist to work with as we coach, as we're looking for coaches in our lives, is not a bad strategy.
Yeah. You know, it's funny. I'm an alchemist, but I look for alchemists. Like when I interview coaches, I ask specific questions because I have too many ideas. So I need an alchemist to hone in on my ideas and then be able to see which one she thinks or he thinks would actually be the most advantageous for me to go after. Because my alchemist is like the Energizer Bunny, obviously. And that's not serving me so well anymore.
I have great ideas, and it's hard with anything. Right. Because you get so close to what you're doing and you're so passionate about it that you can't see the forest from the trees. Trees from the forest.
Oh, my God. Absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, you have to. You have to have. I think you have to have someone in your life, whether it's you hire someone or you create a mastermind of friends. I tend to choose friends for. It's funny. I tend to have people in my life, and it's just naturally, I do this. It's not something I consciously did, but I tend to surround myself with people in my life that really complement my archetypes. And then I bounce certain ideas off of certain people. I go. They're like my go to person for that particular. Whatever it is. And I won't go to anybody else. And when I learned my archetypes, now I understand why I do that, because they are that archetype and that helps me kind of choose and pick and master my own life.
Somebody asked and Renee asked in the comments, how do you find these people who would help you? And I want to know because there is so much more that can be done around these and so much more you can go into. And we are like just barely scratching the surface. And we spent a whole hour really deep in it. So what are next steps? Like how do you learn more about this? Where do you go?
I mean, yeah, there's quite a few things. I mean, obviously there's no book on this, by the way. You can't just go to the library and find a book. I mean, like there's only, there's less than 250 of us in the entire world that are actually certified to teach this. And so, I mean, yeah, I mean we can always talk privately and I can definitely go through your archetypes and help you figure some things out. I have two things running right now. One is called what is your money language? So if you really want to dig into all of the archetypes and see how you can use them to not only kind of figure out how you can use them in your own life, but figure out how you can actually apply them into other areas of your life. Like if you're having issues talking about money with your husband, it's a great class to take because you can understand him better. I'm also going to talk about in this class how what business tasks do you need to do? Like we're going to get really involved in that in the last class. So it's four weeks long and it's really based, it's really created as an introductory to this and it will go much deeper than what we did today. It actually started on Tuesday, but there is a recording and we just went over all the eight archetypes on Tuesday. So you didn't really miss anything except what each archetype does, how they react, what their personality traits are, and just got the specifics on that. And so what I'm offering for everyone is if they decided to do that, you can get a one on one session with me privately as part of the program.
Awesome.
I also offer 90 days to work with me privately. So you get to have me once a week. And we really dig into your life. Not just into your business, but we dig into your life. I mean, it's pretty Intense. We dig into your finances, we dig into your relationship, we dig into your business, especially, and we figure out what's working, what's not working, and which archetypes we need to really impress and which archetypes we need to suppress. Because sometimes we need to suppress a couple of them just so we can reach certain goals. And there's a method to the madness because your archetypes all work together, so you want to make them friends, not enemies.
This is great. So where do we go to find out more about this program? Is there a website?
Yes. So you can go to money language.kimberlyriggins.com so it's money language, period. Kimberlyriggins.com and so that would be the group program. If you want to work with me, you know, privately, and you know already that you want to just talk to me because money is really uncomfortable. You know, I'll offer a discovery session to anyone on our. On the time here with us today as a complimentary thing, and we'll go from there and see what. What kind of avenue works best. So if you want to reach me for that, just send me an email@kimberlyimberlyriggins.com and just put Amber sent me, and then I'll know that it's from this class. Awesome. Okay.
All the information in the chat and I just want to thank you, and I love watching people, like, do and talk about what they are so good at. And like I said, we've known each other for a long time, and this just feels so in the zone. You know, this stuff. It's awesome. So thank you.
It's cool. Sure. Absolutely.
Really cool. And we. So everybody knows where to find you. There is so much more to learn here, so I really hope people connect and take advantage definitely, of that discovery session because that was awesome for me. We went through that with you, and man, like, light bulbs went off. And I love that you call it a reading because it really feels like. Oh, yeah, yeah. Like, it's very psychic. But it's all, you know, there's research behind it, and it's so cool. I just love it. So thank you. Any final recommendations or words of wisdom for everyone as they're going through this?
You know, the biggest thing that I can say about just money in general that would help them if they do nothing else with these archetypes is to seriously just become truthful, like, sit down with your finances one day and just really own up to whatever's going on with your finances. And if you are on this call, if you took notes. Just take a look at which of your archetypes is really running the show and ask yourself this question. Is it helping me? What are my goals? Is this helping me? And you're brilliant in your own right. So if you listen to your gut, you will have some amazing answers come to you if you would just spend time listening for those answers, you know? And again, so you want to come from a place of no stress. I mean, make it like a. I hate saying this, but kind of make like a little money date for yourself, right? Get a glass of wine, a cup of coffee or something and just be like. Your intention is to just come clean with yourself and then walk away and see what your intuition tells you. Because it's really, really smart if you actually give it half a chance to listen.
Awesome. That was good advice. The money dates are. I have to warm up to it now because I'm so resistant. So I'll be scheduling my money dates. I had meeting with my accountant today also, so it's all in order leading up.
Well, if I can do it, you can do it. You know what happened with my last money date?
Oh, my gosh. Yeah. And congratulations on the house. Thanks again for taking time out.
Sure, Absolutely.
We'll talk again soon.
Okay, Bye, everyone. Great. Bye.
