Get ready, because everything is about to change. There's a new way of living life and doing business that will blow your mind. This is a podcast all about the timing of life and the timing of success. It's what we call the Right on Time Life. And you are listening to the Right on Time podcast with Amber McHugh. Hey there. Welcome to another episode of the Right on Time Podcast. As usual, it's Amber McHugh here, your host of the Right on Time podcast. And I'm excited to dig into today's topic, which I'm even a little bit nervous to say. It might make you a little bit uncomfortable to think about. You might not believe it at first. I sometimes feel resistance and a little bit of, like, for real. Is this for real? When I think about today's topic, but it's for real. It's for real. And today's topic is people making 10 times more than you aren't working 10 times harder. How does that feel? Does it make you feel uncomfortable? Do you not believe it? Do you embrace this idea that to make more, I have to work more, I have to have more output, I have to deliver more, I have to execute more, I have to keep going, I have to stay busy? I, too, have worn the badge of honor called busy in my past. And as I have grown in my career and as I've watched leaders who are excelling and the leaders I admire. Look at the leaders you admire. What do they do different? What do they have in common? The leaders I admire are not grinding every day. They have time and space for the people they love and the people they care about. They have time and space to take care of themselves on a regular basis. They make time for those vacations. And this isn't by accident. There is a design that goes into leading and growing a business like yours in a way that allows you to have financial success, time, freedom, and allows you to live your dreams in addition to having clients you love and who adore you right back. Yes, this isn't just about us and what we want, Right? We know that as entrepreneurs, we have to take care of our clients in a meaningful and in a loving way. But it doesn't mean we have to be grinding all the time, hustling and cranking it out. Sure, of course, there are seasons of hustle. There are seasons where I am busier, and before my spring break, I worked until midnight to make sure I got everything done and everything buttoned up before I left. Yes, there are seasons of this. But overall, the person who elevates the person who is growing a successful business that scales beyond my imagination really is not necessarily working ten times hard, harder. When I think about these concepts and when I think about these ideas, I look at them in practice. So we've got examples of this and we've got anecdotes of this, but I also love it when I see it happening in my own life. So I've got my own examples to back this up. I currently operate two businesses, as you may know, three boudoir and business consulting boutique Amber McHugh.com one photography company that operates a bit like an agency, right? If you think about business models, we are photography business. But as I think about my past in agencies and in consultings, there are some similarities in how we operate to that. And then of course, on the Amber McHugh side, I am showing up for my clients on a regular basis. So I want to give you that scenario setting so you know that it's possible to run two successful businesses, serve clients, show up and still have space and time. And then third, I love it when I can get data to back up these beliefs to back up what I'm seeing happening with my colleagues and in the market in my own life. Is this for real? Is this for real that people making 10 times more than you are not working 10 times harder? Well, let me share that. I came across some data on business leaders who are growing and successful and I want to share some things that though the role of modern CEO because this is a critical shift if you want to make 10 times more without working 10 times harder. We're going to talk more about what it means and what it is to be a modern CEO in our upcoming series the Modern CEO Way. And you can hop on the wait list for that@ambermce.com ModernCEO probably your Kindle because it's a highly coveted book right now and I just checked Amazon and the price has tick, tick ticked right right up. So you can still get it on your Kindle or Audible or from the library. But the book is called Business Brilliant. And in this book my friend Louis Schiff talks about the difference between middle class, those individuals who stay in the middle class and those individuals who escalate to self made, millionaire or billionaire. Now the saying goes self made, made. But even in the book and in the research, those people who are defined as self made millionaires and billionaires who escalate from middle class to millionaire and billionaire level engage the help of others when they know that there is someone else that can do this thing, you name it, you fill in the blank. Self made millionaires and billionaires engage the help of others when they know there is likely something, someone out there that can do that task better than you can do it. What does this mean? Does this mean I need to hire a big team? Does this mean that I need to bring on my first employee? No, not necessarily. This can happen in a variety of different ways. What we're talking about is pulling in expertise, connecting with people, bringing in people who have a zone of genius in another area than you have. Because we want you as leader, as CEO, to stay operating in your particular zone of genius. Right. Whatever that is. I'm pretty strategic. My zone of genius is seeing the big picture and then pulling through the action steps that we need to take to get there. Evaluating business strategies, weighing pros and cons. And I'm really good at that. That has helped both of my businesses grow beyond combined multiple six, multiple six, multiple seven figures a year. Right. Not that the revenue mark matters, but as demonstration of my skill set, I have a metric to tie to that. Right. So you want to look and watch for metrics in your business that align with your zone of genius and ensure that you're focused on the right things. You need to be focused on the $100 bills, not all the things. And when you do that, when you focus in your zone of genius and you bring in experts, when it's not your zone of genius, you will accelerate your results and you won't have to work as hard to get those results. One example. One example. Another interesting tidbit on this very specific working hard top that I came across from research completed and reported in the Harvard Business Review. And it talks about this idea of what does it take to be a successful CEO? More specifically, what are successful modern CEOs doing that those who are not successful are not doing? Right. Where's the gap? What's the difference between the successful CEOs and the successful. The CEOs who are not performing at as high of levels, who aren't making the cut. Right. And if you're hearing the word CEO and thinking, whoa, I'm not a CEO, Amber. I am just doing this entrepreneurial thing. I am just, I'm just moving and shaking. I'm doing my thing. I don't think of myself as a CEO. I want to challenge that behavior. I want to challenge that way of thinking. And I want to invite you to step into the role of modern CEO because this is a critical shift. If you want to make 10 times more without working 10 times harder. We're going to talk more about what it means and what it is to be a modern CEO in our upcoming series, the Modern CEO Way. And you can hop on the wait list for that@ambermcch.com forward slash modern CEO again, Amber McHugh.com modernceo super simple. And yes, there is a difference between entrepreneurs who are out here dabbling, right? Who are running their business as a hobby, who aren't focused on the numbers, and who aren't focused on creating and crafting a vision and growing a business. Right? It's not the priority. I'm just out here dabbling. If you want to go beyond dabbling, if you want to go beyond feeling overwhelmed and overworked, then you've got to start thinking like a CEO. And again, there are even differences between successful modern CEOs and those who are not making the cut. And one of those key differences that I'm so excited to share with you today is very special. Specifically that modern CEOs who are successful are not working harder. In fact, you might be surprised to learn that Even low performing CEOs have high integrity and high work ethic. Yes, even those CEOs who are not cutting it. Even those modern CEOs, those leaders of growing businesses who aren't cutting it right, they're not hitting their numbers. They're not getting to where they want to be. They're not leading their clients forward or their team forward. They're even working hard. They are working hard. So the difference between successful business owners and unsuccessful business owners is not working hard. It's not work ethic. It's not a direct path to success. Another way that entrepreneurs and modern CEOs who are getting ahead and making 10 times more without working 10 times harder is that they aren't changing things all of the time. Have you ever experienced that where something's not quite working? That challenge didn't work. That webinar didn't work. It doesn't feel quite right. I tried it once. Hmm. Maybe I need to do a video series. Hmm. I'm gonna try something new every single month. Then I'll figure out what works. Oh man, do I have stories on this. I call that Persona, the Persona of the person who's hopping from one marketing strategy to the next marketing strategy to the next, the Messy marketer. And in our upcoming Modern CEO Way series that we're preparing for you, that will be released summer 2021 for the first time ever, I'm going to share with you the differences between how the messy marketer and how the modern CEO were differentiated and got results in my businesses. Right? What were the differences in the results when I showed up as a messy marketer versus the results when I showed up as a modern CEO? I mean, I bet you can guess. But I'm going to break down those details for you in that upcoming video series, so I want to make sure you get signed up for it@amber McHugh.com ModernCEO but those successful CEOs embrace mundane. They embrace steady. They are reliable. They are consistently creating change in alignment with what's happening in the marketplace. Those CEOs who operate steadily guess how much more likely they are to succeed than those who are operating like the messy marketer. CEOs who are steady CEOs who are reliable grow 15 times more than those who are operating like the messy marketer 15 times more. Mind blown this is a hard one for me to swallow. It's a tough pill for me to swallow because I like change. I get excited when we get to create something new. But if you want to get ahead, if you want to grow 15 times faster, if you want to have a chance at accelerating your growth and making 10 times more without working 10 times harder, we've got to embrace steady. We've got to embrace reliability. We've got to embrace consistency. And yes, we're going to integrate change, but we're going to evaluate and not make all the changes all the time. You with me? I sure hope so because I'm excited to see your growth as we move ahead as well. So in this brief podcast episode we discussed and shared how we've got some evidence for people making 10 times more aren't working 10 times harder. We looked at number one, where you want to bring in an expert when there's someone out there that can do things better than you can. Just like the self made millionaires and billionaires that Louis Schiff shares about in the book business brilliant. Number two, we looked at the difference between successful CEOs and those who aren't as successful. Both have high work ethic, both have high integrity. Both are cranking it out and working hard. So the difference between the successful and the unsuccessful is not hard work. Number three, we looked at what it means to be a messy marketer versus a modern CEO and how elevating into that modern CEO role and embracing steadiness, embracing consistency, is going to help you get ahead and move 15 times faster.
