Vision for Life

Katie Dunaudin walks through five steps to design your life intentionally: create space, declare, remove, make a movie, and own it. She argues most people live by default instead of by choice, and shows how a clear vision builds fulfillment and confidence.
Hey, you guys. I am Katie Dunaudin. I run a wellness company. But really what I do is at the end of the day, I teach women how to live more by design than defaults. And this is in our lives and our bodies and our businesses. And all this is so that we can actually have the Trevrine we want. We can fulfill our purpose, we can have passion and contagious joy. So my sweet spot is really blending the soulful piece with this strategy piece. So what I get to do on today is how to create a vision for your life. Not just your biz, not just your personal life, but intertwined whole life. And yes, vision boards can be a part of it, but it's so not all of it. So before we dive into the how, I just want to share a few, few juicy bits around why this is so necessary to be truly happy, fulfilled and successful long term in your business. So when you don't have a vision for your life based on your truth, which I'll get to, you don't have a roadmap. You don't really know where you're going. And when we don't know where we're going, we default into old patterns and ruts, we default into others visions that are placed on us or even society's messages of success and shoulds. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to give you three examples of what this may look like in real life if you or someone else doesn't have a vision and thus a roadmap. So the first example, these people, you'll really dabble. You'll start to doubt yourself, you'll imitate others, but it never quite works out as well for you. You'll think you need to do everything, have everything, be everything. And what this does is it leads to burnout or stagnant growth in your business, your bank accounts and your impact. And ultimately usually these people often quit. Now the second example is when someone has lack of vision, it can lead to analysis paralysis, where maybe you're consuming information or food or Netflix or Instagram or blog posts or programs, but you're not taking action, which means you have a hobby, not a business, and I'm guessing maybe a meh life. Now the final example, if someone doesn't have the vision is it may lead people to taking action. But one year, three years, 10 years from now, you're like, how in the world did I end up here? And all of these can lead to fulfilling that myth of you can't have it all, you can't have it all. Especially as women, you can't have it all. But we are going to bust that right now because I truly believe, and I live that you can have your all once you get really clear on it and you let go of the rest. So designing your vision, it gives you the exact foundation to be able to know what to say yes to. And often more important is what to say no to. It'll give you the freedom to let go of the comparisonitis because you'll be rock solid and what you're creating and moving towards versus doubting yourself. And it's the first step in giving you confidence, crystal clarity and a deep knowing of. I've so got this. So really what the title of this little jam should be is how you can have your all in life and business. So right now I want to dive into the how. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to give you five steps to start to create your vision. So the five steps are create space, declare, remove, make a movie and own it. Okay, so for the first one, create space. This is really what I call a condition for inevitable success. So what can you put in place that is fun, that's going to set you up for success in this exercise? And thus you get all the benefits I listed. So I want you to create space for you to be able to answer honestly and show up fully. So this could be go for a walk, listen to music, take a bath, meditate, do whatever you need to do to create space in your mind and your heart to really show up fully to this exercise. Okay, now our second one is declare. So declare your do, your have, your be and your feel. You can take 10 minutes, an hour, two days, whatever you need. And I want you to get two sheets of paper because we're going to write these words and on that first page you're going to write do at the top. In the middle of that page, write have. Then on the second sheet I want you to write be at the top and feel in the middle. Now, for each one of these words, you're going to answer it. What do I want to do in my life next? What do I want to have on the next page? What do I want to be? And then finally, what do I want to feel in my life? And you can do this for the next year as we're planning for 2018, but I want you to think bigger and longer. So if you were old and retired and you're looking back on your life, what do you want the answers to these questions to be. Then, because it happens to all of us, I want you to ask yourself, what am I not writing down? Because it feels too much of something. It feels too impossible, too idealistic, too unrealistic, too small, too materialistic. Get deep in the soul for this one, babes. Okay, once you've gone through that one, you're gonna go the third step, which is remove. So this is where we connect to your truth. So I want you to go through each item you wrote down in response to those questions. And I want you to simply ask yourself this, is this something I desire? Or where might this desire, this belief, this should have come from? Then do I want to keep it? Is it helping me? If not, let it go. That responsibility is no longer yours. It's no longer something that you need to hold onto. Okay, fourth step. I want you to make a movie, which is visualize. I want you to make a movie of your vision, to be crystal clear in what your desire actually looks like in your life. Every single detail that you can think of. What are you doing? Saying, thinking. What are you wearing? Who are you with? When do you wake up? What are you eating? Without knowing these key details, we are aimlessly walking around hoping that our desire will magically just appear for us. And then not knowing when it has because we don't know what it looks like. So just like you're watching your life is a movie, put every detail in your vision onto paper or a vision board like the one behind me. Oops. Okay, and then finally, our last step. Fifth is own. Own. And this is two part. First, review your vision daily. That's simple. But the second part of owning is this. And it's a biggie. Stop saying I don't know, I don't care. Whatever you want, you decide. Own your desires. Own your vision. Build that muscle. Okay, so to create a vision, to recap, create space, declare, remove, make a movie and own it. Own it. Oh, my gosh. This is such juicy stuff, you guys. It will change your life and your business if you let it. So I can't wait to see what you guys come up with and post below. So grateful to be here. Jump in. Thank you.
