Grandmaster Alireza Firouzja is making his way to the game. He is going to play for the Trivandrum Continental Kings. He hasn't won a single game until now, and that is stark contrast to the last edition where he was literally unbeatable. And coming in here is Javokhir Sindarov. He has been in tremendous form. And it'll be an exciting clash between Jaukhir and Alireza. Look at the teams of the Firs American Gambits and the Triveni Continental Kings entering into the beautiful arena of the Global Chess League 2026 as all the players line up, handshake with each other, and we are ready to rock and roll here. Alireza looking for his first win in this tournament, and he hasn't had particularly great positions as well. He's lost to MVL and drawn the rest of the games, while Javokhir Sindarov has lost to Nepo but beaten Anand twice and was almost, uh, you know, close to beating Nepo in that game before losing on time in an equal position. We have Gunnar Bjornsson, a well-known personality in the world of chess, a world of chess organizer of the Reykjavik Open, who makes the first move. Bharat Singh Chauhan there, and the chief arbiter as well. And it's time for us to begin the battle. Well, this is already move number 7, so let's get to the position, how it was reached. Sinderov starts with knight f3, knight f6, c4, c5, g3, knight c6, d5 takes here, and knight to c3. He goes g6, and this is where h4, h6 was played, and we reach the live board position. The inclusion of the moves h4 and h6 do make the game a bit sharp here. But also, I wonder if he wants to push h5 because then black goes g5 in this position. So, Javokir now goes short castles and Alireza also gets his bishop out to g7. Knight takes d5 quickly played by Sindarov. Queen takes d5 and d3. So you'll see that the queen is a little bit awkwardly placed here with the bishop looking at it. So you can quickly move the queen away, but he goes queen e6, and this is not the best move because now bishop e3 is a powerful move attacking the pawn on c5. And this is what he does, giving up the b2 pawn, and this is a well-known idea. In this line, because with this bishop looking here and the rook coming in, and Alireza snatches the pawn, rook b1, the best move, and perhaps the move to try and fight, is bishop d4. But he goes bishop g7, and now the point is not to take here, because taking here means you can even lose this pawn, which I'm sure Firouzja is in that pawn-grabbing mode. But to go queen d2, and he plays it. Now you defend a2. Now c5 is hanging. So queen d6 defending the pawn makes sense, but suddenly you have rook fc1, and Alireza is in big trouble because b6 already weakens this diagonal, and you have pawn to d4, very strong. So rook fc1, knight comes out to d4, and now knight takes d4. He goes pawn to a4, just moving this away. The main thing was you could take, take, and play this beautiful move queen b2 pinning here, and white is better. But a4 played, rook b8. And let's see what Sinderov does now. He plays a5, gains even more space. But look at this now— bishop takes, takes, and b6, and black has equalized. But he goes bishop g4, Firouzja. Alireza ready to complete his development with castle soon. But Sindarov takes on d4, cd, and Queen b4. So if you take here, take here, and maybe even take Bishop f3, this should be equal, this position. But instead, he went— he goes Queen d8, and this is a massive blunder. It's a huge mistake. It's actually losing in several ways. a6 is a powerful move. But there's a very strong move that Sindarov has, which is knight h2 attacking the bishop and then picking up the b7 pawn. It's as simple as that. Jaukir goes for the second best move, in fact the best move even, attacking here. And it might seem like a blunder, bishop e5, but check! This is what maybe Alireza could have missed. Now e5 is hanging. If you play here, it's a beautiful move. Both of these are hanging, but you can also play bishop c6 and take here, which then is game over. So king f8 played, queen takes e5, the rook is hanging, f6, queen f4 to attack the bishop, and he plays h5. Now if you take here, then queen e4 attacks the bishop and the pawn. So, and in fact, the bishop would have been trapped. So h5, a6 played, and Firouzja now having very little possibilities because if you play b6, the a7 pawn is a huge weakness. You can't take here because of rook takes b8, and he goes b5. And it's time for Jaukir to enter in. Queen c7, good move. As we said, this is hanging, so even if you win all these pawns, it doesn't really matter because Queen a7 and the a-pawn is a monster. You can see Sindarov deciding whether he should defend the pawn here. He calmly defends the pawn on d3, and now after King f7, you simply take the pawn on a7. Queen takes a7. Yes, he takes on a7 and white is completely crushing this. Rook is coming into c7. There are many different ways to continue. And Javokir Thinks it through and plays rook b4. Now maybe Alireza has small chances if he plays rook b6, but he goes rook c8, and this allows white to take, take, and then pick up the pawn on b5. Javok here tries to calculate this properly because he is about to beat Alireza in brutal style here. Trades have happened and now Queen to b7. Rook to b5, queen takes d4, rook takes d4. Actually, queen takes d4 may not be the best because then queen takes a6 and you lose your key pawn. But rook takes d4 seems fine. And Javokir making sure that all his other teammates are doing well. He's looking at the big screen. All other games have ended in draws until now, I think, for the team. And now he plays Queen b7, great move. Alireza goes for a check, King goes to h2, Queen d2 played, and f2 and d3 both are hanging. Goes for the check on d5. Alireza goes king to g7, and now queen d4 defending both d3 and f2. Queen a2, and now can we push a7? Goes queen a5 and queen to c5. b5 is hanging, and Alireza resigns there. Javokir Sindarov wins It was a very one-sided struggle, and let's hear from Javokir himself. We bring you some moments after this game, but the team of Javokir fires American Gambits beat Triveni Continental Kings. Another important match win for the team today. It seemed you tricked Firuja in the opening. What happened there?
Ah yeah, like I think he was not ready for this line, and yeah, some moment he's starting too much probably. And I start understanding he doesn't like his position, and I was so happy at that moment. And yep, and then I think I played very well, and he missed this 95 move, which is in my opinion super fantastic.
Sindarov, you're making winning a habit. I mean, game after game you're clutching it for the team. A word on your— are you happy with your performance? How has it been going? And you are getting back-to-back wins as well.
Uh, you know, if I will win and team will lose, I will be not happy. I'm happy that team is winning, and we won like few important We have 13 games and after this tough 3-in-a-row loss, we are somehow coming back. We won 2 in a row, so we'll see. We need to play well next rounds as well, so we'll try our best.
And that's Mark.
And the player of the match award goes to the sole winner from today's game. We have Javakir Siddharth.
Javakir, congratulations!
You were the game changer for your team today.
Thank you.
Uh, yes, thank you so much. Yeah, like, today game was very interesting and I'm happy that all, all players played very well today. And I think all boards we are just pushing. Um, but yeah, at the end some games in draw and, uh, yeah, and others I spent too much time to think and like, uh, yeah, missed some tactics tricks. But anyway, I'm happy that we Comebacking after 3 tough losses, so we'll try our best for next phase.
You know, what we did see is while you were playing, the game was yet on, you did have your eyes on the other boards and what was happening around. Uh, you know, after everybody drew their games, uh, did you think that it was your responsibility now to win it for the team?
Uh, yeah, some moment I was— I'm pretty sure just I'm, I will— I'm winning game. And you know, I don't want to play too fast Because in Andres, all we know, he can do his best in time travel. So I'm just taking all the games playing too relaxy and didn't, you know, didn't playing very fast. So, but then yeah, I saw like everyone going to draw and yeah, I was so happy that like we won the match.
Well, congratulations on today's win, a very crucial win. And I know, I think probably you all will unwind, celebrate by going for a panel session. I'll see you there.
Yeah, thank you.
That is the bias American Gambits winning their final game of today.
