10.14.21 - The Ash Cash Show

In this episode of The Ash Cash Show, host Ash Cash, joined by co‑host Speaker A, delivers a high‑energy motivational broadcast that blends personal anecdotes, spiritual reflections, and practical advice. The show opens with branding and promotional plugs for the Ash Cash podcast, YouTube channel, Daily Aspiration Volume 1, and the Inside the Vault series. The core of the episode centers on the idea that struggle and stress are essential training tools: a butterfly‑cocoon story, quotes from Paulo Coelho, Ralph Marston, Emerson and T.S. Eliot illustrate how hardship strengthens character. Ash frames stress as a divine trainer, using metaphors of soil, dirt, and a seed to explain how adversity provides nutrients for growth. He shares personal stories about his 27‑year journey in music and comedy, emphasizing discipline, taking control of time, and refusing to quit despite pain. The dialogue repeatedly challenges listeners to avoid excuses, stay busy, and execute rather than talk, urging them to adopt a “greatness on display” mindset rooted in the belief that humans are made in God’s image. The episode concludes with gratitude to the community, badge shout‑outs, and final calls to action to subscribe, tune in daily, and embrace the day’s challenges.

Let's go. Happy Throwback Thursday, my creatures of undeniable resilience! Welcome to the day that you realize that struggle is part of success. Today's daily aspiration is dedicated to trusting the journey. Paola Coelho once said— once told an interesting story. A man spent hours watching a butterfly struggling to emerge from its cocoon. It managed to make a small hole, but its body was too large to get through it. After a long struggle, it appeared to be exhausted and remained absolutely still. The man decided to help the butterfly, and with a pair of scissors, he cut open the cocoon, thus releasing the butterfly. However, the butterfly's body was very small and wrinkled, And its wings were all crumpled. The man continued to watch, hoping that at any moment the butterfly would open its wings and fly away. Nothing happened. In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of his brief life dragging around his shrunken body and shriveled wings, incapable of flight. What the man, out of kindness and his eagerness to help, had failed to understand was that the, the tight cocoon and the efforts the butterfly had to make in order to squeeze out of the tiny hole were nature's way of training the butterfly and strengthening its wings. Sometimes a little extra effort is precisely what prepares us for the next obstacle To be faced. Anyone who refuses to make that effort or gets the wrong sort of help is left unprepared to fight the next battle and never manages to fly off their destiny. Please understand that struggle is part of the journey. What you go through on your way to success is as important as the success itself. Never for one second, take your struggle for granted. Embrace them, love them, and use them to get you the life that you deserve. As the saying goes, you have to fight through some bad days to earn the best days of your life. Nothing can stop you but you. I'll leave you a couple of quotes. First one's by Ralph Marston. It says, achievement is never clean or linear.
That's right.
Achievement is messy, inconvenient, daunting, and often quite unpredictable, and it is worth all that. Next quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that says, bad times have scientific value. There are occasions a good learner would not miss. And last but not least, by T.S. Eliot, and it says, if you aren't in over your head, How do you know how tall you are? Hold on, wait a hold on, hold on, hold on. We fly high, no lie. You know this. All right, listen. Let me tell you. Let me, let me, let me, let me, let me read that back real quick because I don't think I, I might have to read that. All right, I might, I might have, I might have to say that again for the people in the back. I might have to say that again for the people in the back because I don't think. Maybe the music was too loud. Maybe the music was too loud. I need, I need y'all to, I need y'all to really, really, really understand this though. I need you to understand this, right? Um, here's the thing. Um, a lot of us are so quick to get out of pain or to get out of struggle. Some of us are so Quick to try to help others and not realizing that the wrong type of help can kill. If you get the wrong type of help, you will die. If you give the wrong type of— type of health, or if you give the wrong type of help, yo, you could literally be killing somebody. Right? I'm gonna read this one more time. Look, Paulo Coelho. Wait, we gonna, we gonna, we gonna, we gonna read this one more time so y'all can get it for the people in the back, right? Paulo Coelho once told an interesting story. A man spent hours watching a butterfly struggle to emerge from his cocoon. It managed to make a small hole But its body was too large to get through it. After a long struggle, it appeared to be exhausted and remained absolutely still. The man decided to help the butterfly, and with a pair of scissors, he cut open the cocoon, thus releasing the butterfly. However, the butterfly's body was very small and wrinkled, and its wings were all crippled. The man continued to watch, hoping at any moment the butterfly would open up its wings and fly away. Nothing happened. Absolutely nothing happened. In fact, right, nothing happened. In fact, butterfly Spent the rest of his brief life dragging around its shrunken body and shriveled wings, incapable of flight. What the man, out of the kindness of his eagerness to help, had failed to understand was that the tight cocoon and the efforts that the butterfly had to make in order to squeeze out of that tiny hole Were nature's way of training the butterfly and of strengthening its wings. Sometimes a little extra effort is precisely what prepares us for the next obstacle to be faced. Anyone who refuses to make that effort or gets the wrong sort of help is left unprepared. To fight the next battle and never manages to fly off to their destiny. You got to trust the process. I need you to please understand that struggle is part of the journey. What you go through on your way to success— please hear me— what you go through on your way to success is as important As the success itself. Never, not even for one second, take your struggles for granted. Embrace them, love them, use them to get the life that you deserve. And as the saying goes, you have to fight through some bad days to earn the best days of your life. Yo, this feel like an Ash Cash day. Hold on, hold on, hold on. This feel like an Ash Cash day. So they say life isn't easy for those who dream. Life isn't easy for those who dream. Welcome to the day that you realize that nothing can stop you. Nothing can stop you.
No surrender. No surrender. No retreat. No retreat.
Embrace the struggle. Embrace the struggle. Because those who have great aspirations will often be met with many setbacks and temporary defeat.
Yep.
But it is impossible to stop someone who never gives up. Those who dream big dreams will find life more difficult than those who decide to live normal, mediocre lives. But so what?
So what?
If it's worth having, then it's worth fighting for. You are capable of doing anything you put your mind to, and in order to get what you deserve out of life, you must be willing to sacrifice to be the best Possible you, the struggles you deal with in life are in no way supposed to cripple you. They are here to make you stronger and remove every ounce of doubt and weakness you have in your body. You are more powerful than you even know. More power than you even know. Nothing in this world can stop you unless you allow it.
Yup.
Don't be concerned with what others are doing or what others have to say about you. As they sleep, you grind. As they watch their favorite shows, you work Harder than you've ever worked before in your life.
Yep.
While they out partying, using YOLO as an excuse to throw their lives away, you are perfecting your craft because you know that what you're giving up right now is nothing compared to what you'll get when you become your true self. Remember, never allow circumstance to dictate what you will or will not accomplish. Life is abundant, and anything you want out of it will be yours if you absolutely believe that you can have it. Your setbacks are set up for your comeback. Your life is like a bow and arrow. Before the arrow can fully realize its power, the bow must first be taken back as far as it can. And once it reaches the point of no return where it can't go no more and it is let go, God help anything that's in its path. Be the arrow. Be the arrow. Understand that no matter how far you are taken back, you cannot And will not lose because the force that is behind you can break through anything. What's the song in the back? It's the original. As long as you can dream and believe in your power to make those dreams come true. There are those who think they can and those who think they can't. Be the former and live life to the fullest. Nothing can stop you but you. That's Demi the baddie on the hook.
Yeah, struggle don't stop, no, 'cause I'll get there. Yeah, I'll get there, I'll get there. I'm a tree on, I'm a move on, I'm a tree on Mind Right Radio, your number one source for mind elevation.
Yo, so they say, let's keep the vibe, let's keep the vibe. Stress is necessary. I need y'all to know that. I need you to know, embrace the struggle. Stress is necessary all day, every day. Yup.
This is the part where I'm supposed to talk, and I want to reiterate though, I'm just a motivation.
Darius Cooks, that's what I am. What up, my G?
Uh, Bishop, bless me, and it's really helped me understand my walk. You know, I'm nothing, I'm nothing no more than you.
I'm nothing no more than you.
I've been very blessed in that I've lived a life God has enabled me to pursue. My passion, yeah, and tied it to my gift.
Tied it together.
I'm gifted at comedy, and I've been able to pursue it. So I wake up every day.
Appreciate you, Chris.
And for a living, I play music and tell jokes. How big of a blessing is that? But you know, people, people pre-order Daily Activations Volume One coming soon. So you lose sight of the fact that I'm 54 though, and you look, and you don't know the fact. That I've been doing this 27 years in order to get to the point where I can wake up and play music and tell jokes for a living. It's like my guest Tim Gannon, who explained the fact that he wanted to play polo. He didn't buy a pony till he was 40. He saw the first race at 16, the first match at 16. He didn't get that till he was 40. But so people look at him as the owner of Outback Steakhouse, they go, wow. But they have no idea, no idea the journey and the stress. And, and what I want to talk to you about is stress. What stress is, what it really is, how it's necessary if you're planning on getting to where you're trying to go.
Necessary.
See, stress is God's way of training you.
Yep.
It's preparation. What most people do is, see, once you get stressed, you don't want that no more. So now you give up. You through. I'm stressed, so I don't want— nobody likes stress. But you have to, in order to develop and to change and to grow, stress is necessary. So you got to be willing to go get it every day. Now, the story my father told me all the time— now, I've heard it several different ways, but I'm just telling you the way my daddy gave it to me. He said, son, he said, every morning on the plains of the Eastern Serengeti Desert, there arises a gazelle that realizes that he must run faster than the fastest lion, or he will be eaten and he would die that day. On that same desert, Arises in the morning, a lion that realizes that he must run faster than the fastest gazelle or he will starve and he will die that day. He say, son, the moral of the story is no matter who you is, when you wake up in the morning, you need to be running. No matter— and he said, no matter who you is, this Proper grammar is who you are. But my daddy didn't do that, and I was comfortable with it. And so what he taught me was a work ethic of how to work in order to get to where you want to go. You got to put yourself under some stress though. See, stress is necessary. God is a trainer. This is what I learned about. And all I can tell you is, you know, how I got to be who I am. That's all I can share with you. I got no other stories for you. He got me to this point Because from so far from what I done gathered in the process I'm in, he wants me to share my story with those that's still trying to get there. And it— and at 40, you can still buy the pony. And by age 50, you can still have 5 world championships. But you've got to be willing to get under some stress. See, stress is necessary. See, I'm a seed. I really am. I see. But a seed has to be planted. A seed got to have dirt put on top of it. You gotta have dirt put on it. If you take a seed and throw it on the concrete and walk off, the sun just burn it up. But guess what? Logically, in my mind, it doesn't make sense that to grow something you should dig a hole Put it down in there and cover it with dirt. Logically, that don't make no sense to me. But hold on, see, dirt is necessary for growth and development.
Yeah.
Dirt builds character. Dirt gives you the push-through factor. Dirt makes you come with it when you don't feel like coming with it no more. And you get dirt In a lot of different ways. All of y'all that had dirt thrown on you, and dirt ain't always what you want. It's somebody talking about you down on your job. It's somebody accusing you of something that you didn't do. It's somebody telling you you ain't gonna make it. It's somebody sharing information about you that ain't true. Yeah, everybody get dirt put on. But see, when you getting put under that stress, please know God is always working. Kirk Franklin song, God is always working. So I Smile, because I know he back there. See, that dirt builds character in you. When they talking about you, it teaches you to withstand it. Then it gives you something to push through. So when you put the seed and you put the dirt on it, if you understand stress, stress really ain't just dirt. Stress— see, they don't call it dirt when they plant it, they call it soil, because see, soil has nutrients in it. But the nutrients— when people talking about you, dogging you, lying on you, backbiting, stealing from you, talking about you, they're actually putting nutrients in you. They're building character. You got character now. So now, and now the seed— if they put a camera under the ground, you'd have seen the seed sprout open and start coming through the dirt, because the dirt is necessary so you can prove yourself. You know, if you don't really want to— everything you see above ground that blossoms and plants and grows and that's beautiful, it was underground one time. All them potatoes, collard greens, they was underground one time. Them apple trees, they was underground one time. So they had to prove theyself. So you want to be successful? Well, then you got to prove yourself. You got to push through the dirt. You got to come up through here. You got to come out. You got to And push through the dirt.
You got to come then up through here.
you You got to come out. sprout, and then Bishop say then you become a tree. Next thing you know, you got fruit. So when you under stress, take the stress for what it is.
Take it for what it is.
Don't get fooled. Don't just think, oh look, man, Lord must not mean for it to be. What you tripping for?
What you tripping for?
What you talking about? How you think you gonna be a plant, a tree, a flower, a bush, and ain't no stress? How you gonna get to be that without no dirt?
Yep.
See, I expect dirt now. I expect people to talk about me. Matter of fact, I look forward to it now. Do your thing, because if I can weather what happened to me and my family earlier, you can bring whatever you got now. There's some more stuff going around now that's about to happen. Bring it, because now I have developed a character that is stress. I have Soil, enough dirt on me that is providing me with nutrients. What I want to talk to you about is stress.
Stress.
In order to develop and to change and to grow, stress is necessary.
Stress is necessary.
So you got to be willing to go get it every day. Stress is necessary. Stress is necessary. See, stress is God's way of training It's preparation. It's preparation. In order to develop and to change and to grow, stress is necessary.
Stress is necessary. Listen, listen, never give up. We're going straight through. I need y'all to get this. I need y'all to get this. Need the dirt to grow. What do you do on the days when you're just not feeling it? What do you do on the days that you're not feeling like it?
Those days when I'm tired or worn out or just basically sick of the grind, what do I do on those days?
I go anyways. I get it done. I get it done.
I'm just going through the motions. I go through the motions. I don't really want to work out. I work out. I really don't want to hammer on a project.
I hammer on the project.
Don't really want to get up and get out of bed.
Yeah, I get up and get out of bed.
Now, these could be signals that you need some time off, and those signals might be right. They could be correct.
But don't take today off. Not today.
Wait until tomorrow. Don't give in to the immediate gratification. That is whispering in your ear. Shut that down.
Do not listen to that little voice. Instead, go through the motions.
Lift the weights, sprint the hill.
Go through the motions.
The project—
get out of bed.
Now, as an overall rule, I do not like procrastination.
You need to get things done.
But if you are going to rest, that is one thing that you should procrastinate on. That's the one thing I want you to put off until tomorrow. And if when tomorrow comes you still feel like you need To rest, or you need to take a break, then okay, take it.
But the chances are you won't—
you won't need that rest. Chances are you will realize that the desire to rest was just weakness. It was just the desire to take the path of least resistance, the downhill path, the easy path. And by simply going through the motions, you overcame that path.
You stayed on the righteous path, the disciplined path. You stayed on the warpath, which is right where you know that you belong.
Yep.
When I look at people, I always ask the question. I say, man, tell me what Nike stands Tell me what Nike stands for. That's easy, just do it. Just do it. I said tell me what Adidas stands for. Oh, ain't that easy, man? Impossible is nothing.
I said now tell me what you stand for.
Tell me what you stand for. When people look at you, do they think excuses? Yo, hold on. When people look at you, do they think victories? Yeah, hold on, let me tell you something. When people look at you, do they think excuses? Ask yourself that question. When people look at you, do they think excuses? Yo, when you get things done, when you get things done, people know you get things done. And so if you start talking about your dreams and they know you get busy, they know you get things done, they gonna be like, oh word, that's dope, that's true. But if if all you do is make excuses, and when people look at you, all they think is excuses. I know yo, this is about to hurt you. I know I know it's gonna hurt you right now, but I need you. I I need you to. I need you to know that this comes from a place of love. The reason why your family, your friends, the people that's close to you are not supporting you. It's because when they look at you, they see excuses. How many times did you tell them you was going to do that thing and you never did that thing because the thing happened over here that stopped you from doing that thing? Now all of a sudden you, you presenting them with a new dream, a new goal, a new thing that you're excited about, and you want them to be excited with you. That's because when they see you, they see excuses. But here's the deal, here's the deal. You don't need them though, right? That's the good news. The good news is you actually don't even need them. You actually need to stop sharing your dreams with people you haven't gained the credibility with, and you just need to execute. Keep it to yourself, execute, go hard so you can shift that narrative. Because if people see you now and all they see is excuses, Guess what? They're not going to give you opportunities either. Opportunities for what? Opportunities to make excuses. So now you have to now become this person that gets busy, that when they see you, they say, oh yo, they— oh yo, he get busy. Yo, yo, I know he get busy. I know she get busy. I know, I know whatever he put, whatever he touching is gonna be successful. I know whatever— all right, cool. Oh word, yo, he mad consistent. Yo, she mad consistent. Yo, she go hard. So let's do this partnership. Let me see how I can help you. Nobody's gonna want to help you if you don't help yourself. Nobody's gonna help you if you're not helping yourself. So help yourself first. I just, I just, I just needed to say that. When people look at you, do they think that's a person that's gonna give me everything they got? Not on some days. Not on some days. And it's I'm not going to be predicated upon if I feel like it, because I think we all know if we only worked on the days when we felt like it, none of us would get much accomplished. I'm talking about the real level of commitment, not the commitment that falls in line if everything goes right. I'm speaking of the commitment that says I am going to stay true to what I said I would do long after the mood that I've said.
Tony, Tony, see, most people, ladies and gentlemen, are stopping Most people, all you have to do is tell them no.
All you have to do is make it inconvenient for them.
All you have to do is make it difficult for them, and they'll stop. See, when you go to get your goal, don't think that all you have to do is think positive and everything's going to work out.
Let's go, Chip!
You are sending a telegram to Murphy's Law to visit you personally. You thought you were just gonna have a dream and a goal. And you were just gonna wake up and just walk into the sunset. You like dream boom.
It don't work like that. You have a dream and then life pumps you. Life pumps you.
Life pumps you and say, "Do you really want?
Do you really want this?" You gonna lose friends.
Do you really want this?
Do you really want this? Do you really want this? Cousins gonna abandon.
Yep.
People that you used to be like this with gonna think you bougie.
Don't want to deal with you.
Yep.
It's a part of it.
Part of it.
I paid too much.
If I was gonna quit, I would have quit in the abandoned building when I wanted to commit suicide and take my life.
I should have quit when I heard my voice say, your mama don't want you, your daddy don't want to take your life. I got through that, so why I'm gonna quit over an app on the brain?
Come on.
And so I'm telling y'all, you have come too far to quit now. You have invested too much to quit now.
You have lost too much to quit now. Don't cry about it, don't whine about it. Get a reward for your pain. And so by being committed to everything that I started, I finished it.
It built a certain type of spirit, it built a certain type of mentality, it built a certain type of individual.
And so now I couldn't quit even if I wanted to. I couldn't stop even if I want to. I had too much sweat equity in my life and everything that I was doing.
You're too close to quit now. You're gonna take another lap. You gotta take another lap because you never know, this might be the one. You can't stop because you're tired. You can't stop because you got your feelings hurt. You gotta take another lap. Keep walking, keep walking, keep walking. You're gonna make it. You're gonna do it. You got an unstoppable fire. Come on, take another lap. Don't you stop. Don't stop walking.
Mind White Radio, your number one source for mind elevation. All right, y'all, um, oh, what's this track? It's called, uh, Grinding on My Life. Um, you're my fault. So I was occupied for a second, so I was like, yo, uh, I know, no, normal— normally I set up, I set up the next one Um, but I was actually like, my mind just got, got thrown off a little bit. Um, so I don't even know what, what, what track I was gonna go with next. Uh, so I'm gonna take— we got like 15 minutes left, so I'm gonna take, I'm gonna take a request. I'm gonna take a request so y'all could, y'all could tell me what y'all want to hear. Um, because my flow got messed up a little bit. All right, gang, throw y'all requests real quick. Um, Right, stress is necessary.
Um, oh, the speak—
it was a, it was a bunch of speakers. You had, um, you had Inky Johnson, you had, um, uh, what's, what's, what's, what's Jocko? You had Inky, you had, uh, Eric Thomas, you had Les Brown. Um, yeah, look, let me get that ash. 3 magic words. Miles Monroe. Um, run that Ash Cash joint back. Jim Carrey. Uh, the theme— yo, y'all want the theme song? Hold on, where the theme song at? You know what, you know, if God is the greatest, right? If it's nothing bigger, there's nothing better, there's nothing above the light, that's it, it stops there. Right? That we're made in the image and likeness of what? Of God. Let me see something. If God is the greatest, and we all of us are made in the image and likeness of God, then what would that make us? Right? I am greatness on display.
Right?
I am greatness on display. Right?
I am greatness on display. Right. I am greatness on display.
All right, wait, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Because man, I don't know. Y'all y'all throwing too much at me though. You know what I'm saying? Y'all throwing too much at me. I know y'all. I know y'all want to hear embrace the struggle again. So we go do embrace the struggle. So they say life one more time to those who dream. But welcome to the day that you realize that nothing can stop you. Yep. No surrender, no retreat.
Yep.
Embrace the struggle, because those who have great aspirations will often be met with many setbacks and temporary defeat. But it is impossible to stop someone who never gives up. Those who dream big dreams will find life more difficult than those who decide to live normal, mediocre lives. But so what? If it's worth having, then it's worth fighting for. You are capable of doing anything you put your mind to, and in order to get what you deserve out of life, you must be willing to sacrifice to be the best possible you. The struggles you deal with in life are in no way supposed to cripple you. They are here to make you stronger and remove every ounce of doubt and weakness you have in your body. You are more powerful than you even know. Nothing in this world can stop you unless you allow it. Don't be concerned with what others are doing or what others have to say about you.
As they sleep, you grind.
As they watch their favorite shows, you work harder than you've ever worked before in your life. While they out partying, using YOLO as an excuse to throw their lives away, you are perfecting your craft because you know that what you're giving up right now is nothing compared to what you'll get when you become your true self.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
Remember, never allow circumstance to dictate what you will or will not accomplish. Life is abundant, and anything you want out of it will be yours if you absolutely believe that you can have it. Your setbacks are a setup for your comeback. Your life is like a bow and arrow. Before the arrow can fully realize its power, the bow must first be taken back as far as it can. And once it reaches the point of no return where it can't go no more and it is let go, God help anything that's in its path. Be the arrow. Understand that no matter how far you are taken back, you cannot and will not lose because the force that is behind you can break through anything. Dream as far as you can dream and believe in your power to make those dreams come true. There are those who think they can and those who think they can't. Be the former and live life to the fullest. Nothing can stop you but you.
Struggle don't stop.

This is your, this is your absolute time right now.
We are running out of time. What are you going to do with the time you have left? I say that if you don't reposition yourself, you could miss the best time in your life in this season of our Because we have got to change the way we think. We have got to change the way we function. We have got to change the way we deal with issues. And the reason that you have to begin to reposition the way you think and the way you function and the way you feel is that we many times are stuck between the lines of limited thinking and limited people and limited ideas and limited philosophies. And there's something You need to walk into a situation where you've been locked up and tied up and tangled up and say, let there be light, let there be healing, let there be books, let there be change in this city. You have tried 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 different ways to get out of this situation. Each you worked on 90 days or so and then said it doesn't work. How can you be a leader with a 90-day test? Of course it didn't work. You didn't stick to it long enough.
You didn't do it hard enough.
You didn't do what it took to win. And rather than to correct it and get it right, you walked away from it and tried something else. And for the last 10, 15 years of your life, You've been on the run from one thing to the next thing to the next thing, trying to make all this stuff work. Stop it. Stand still. You got to have courage to live with the pressure and the criticism. New levels bring new levels. You have to be tough. You have to be tough to be able to stand it. It's a tough Is it tough keeping your kids encouraged while you secretly worry to death yourself? Is it tough getting ready for a birthday and don't have a birthday gift? Is it tough about being able to get the light bill paid and the water bill paid?
It's tough.
But what do we do with these moments? Do we just have them and go back home and wait for the next one, almost like junkies getting a fix or smokers smoking a cigarette? Are we just habitually addicted to moments without being able to take that And use it strategically to do something in our lives. You do not have to accept it the way it is. Somewhere down inside of you, there is creativity. We got to break out of the barriers and the limitations and get outside of the box. Something's about to happen in your life. You got to take it one day, one day at a time. And when you get to the end of the day, you say, I'm not finished.
I'm not finished.
