11.22.21 - The Ash Cash Show

In this live motivational episode of the Ash Cash Show, host Ash Exantus, joined by speakers Eric Thomas, Les Brown, and Lisa Nichols, delivers a high‑energy call to maintain focus and stay in "beast mode" during a critical 40‑day period at the end of the year. The conversation weaves metaphors of lions, eagles, and alligators to illustrate mental toughness, emphasizes the importance of purpose, commitment, and the process over the product, and challenges listeners to honor their sacrifices, honor their families, and keep their "foot on the gas". Personal anecdotes about overcoming injury, financial hardship, and academic struggles are shared to illustrate resilience. The hosts repeatedly urge the audience to think of three loved ones as motivation, to avoid complacency, and to build self‑worth and net‑worth. The episode ends with shout‑outs to community members and a reminder to subscribe to the podcast and YouTube channel for ongoing financial motivation.

Um, so today, today's about focus, y'all. I need y'all to focus, you know what I'm saying? I need y'all to focus. I need you to focus on your focus, uh, because, uh, this is the week where, where everything could go uphill or downhill. This is the week. This is this is the this is the exact moment in which you could you you either you either stay focused or lose focus, right? Because what happens is look, you know what this we gonna we gonna start with here. Let me tell y'all why. This is where we gonna start. We gonna start here. We gonna start here. Hold on, hold on, hold on. This is this is the mode I need you to stay on. This is the mode I need you to stay on.
If the lion is the king of the jungle, yeah. How can he be the king of the jungle? If he's not the biggest, the elephant is probably one of the biggest. He can't be the fastest because that's the cheetah. He can't be the smartest. So he's not the biggest, the fastest, or the smartest. So how does the lion become the king of the jungle? His mentality. That's the only difference of a lion and an elephant. When a lion walks up and sees an elephant, he thinks run.
He thinks run. 7M, appreciate the badge up.
And it's all mentality, because when a male lion walks up, he may be outnumbered by a pack of hyenas, but I'm king of my jungle because of my mentality. If an eagle ever sees a bird flying at the same altitude that he's flying at, it must be another eagle. It must be another eagle, 'cause pigeons don't fly the altitudes of eagles. And if you find yourself flying with pigeons, you may be flying too low.
You may be flying too low.
So you show me your crowds, I'll show you your future. You show me where you really trying to go in life, I'll tell you what eagles you need to go research. Push through pain enough and there's glory on the other side. But you gotta get through it. Sometimes getting through it is coming out your comfort zone. See, sometimes we're so comfortable now, right? There's a bunch of people sitting in this— it's in this line right now. We didn't have followers. We didn't have nobody encouraging us. We didn't have people to go on Instagram and look at. All we had to do was get up every day and go back to work and start all over again.
Yeah.
And the only approval was self-approval. Everybody wants to be a millionaire. Everybody wants to live in a certain neighborhood. Everybody want to be the top of the top. Everybody wants to be phenomenal until it's time to do what phenomenal does. Everybody. I told you, that's why I'm not afraid. I'm not, I'm not scared that some kid's gonna take my spot. If he does, he's gonna have to do it with sweat.
He's gonna have to do it with tears.
He's gonna have to do it with blood.
He is going to have to get up at 2:30 in the morning. If he can get up every day at 2:30, he deserves to take my spot. Some people are taking your spot and they shouldn't take it, but because you're average, it's easy to take your spot.
Easy.
It's easy to get to the place before you get there. It's easy to take that client before you get to them.
It's easy.
It's easy to beat you.
Why?
You average.
It's easy to beat you. You're excited. You come to the conference. You listen to the stuff, you're excited. But let me tell you something, everybody wants to be a beast.
That's it.
It's time to turn the beast mode off. If you can take all this information and turn beast mode off, there's absolutely— I don't know what time it is. I'm not, I'm not sure. I'm on a whole different time zone. I don't really know what's going on with my body and why my body is not getting the sleep it is supposed to get. One time I'm speaking at 9, another time I'm speaking at 8:30 at night, another time I'm signing books at 9 PM. I don't care about the time. My body does not go with the time.
My trash is in the building.
You adjust to the engagement, you adjust to the gig, you adjust to the presentation, you adjust to the people.
Why?
You not average, you beast mode. So I don't care about what time it is. I have an opportunity of a lifetime. I'm in Australia every single time. I don't care if it's Melbourne, I don't care if it's Brisbane, I don't care if it's Sydney, whatever it is. And whatever it is, I've got to be in beast mode. Why? Because if I'm not in beast mode, Glenn's not bringing me back. I have to be in beast mode 24/7. And your problem is you're like a uni— a university class. You're on beast mode Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Tuesday, Thursday, beast mode. Beast mode 10 AM to 12. Beast mode 1 to 5. I challenge you, I challenge you to make up the gap. I challenge you to go from average. I challenge you to go from good. I challenge you to go from great. And I challenge you to be phenomenal. I challenge you to live in beast mode because beast mode makes more money than average does, period.
Yep, period.
Where you guys are, everybody gonna be trying to give 100, so you gotta go 120, right? When I tell you motivation is life. When I tell you that I need you the next 100 days, I need you to stay plugged in, right? Because the days you're not plugged in are the days you don't get 120. They say an alligator is so ferocious it'll kill a lion.
Yeah.
But I can kill—
I can kill an alligator with my bare hands. Little E.T. How? They say when you want to kill an alligator, you kill it right after it eats.
Right after it eats.
Right after it eats.
Yo, don't miss that bar. Hey yo, you want to kill an alligator? This is what I'm trying to tell you how dangerous— I'm gonna tell you how dangerous I'm gonna tell you how dangerous this week is, right? Fast shout out to ET. Let me tell you how dangerous this week is. ET says, yo, if you want to kill an alligator, right, if you want to kill an alligator, the most— one of the most ferocious animals that we've ever seen, right? One of the most ferocious. Like, the alligator is so slick with it, so smooth with it. Like, it's, it's smooth, it's, it's cooling, it's chilling. But you get in its way, when it's ready, ah, right? It's gonna, it's gonna, it's gonna attack. So you want to stay away from the alligator, right? But if you want to kill an alligator, right, you want to kill an alligator, you know when you kill an alligator, you kill an alligator right after it eats, right? Because right after the alligator eats, it goes into Into to the itis, right? It goes into to this this paralyzed state where it can't even move. And so after you see the alligator eat, that's when you could attack, right? And so this is why this this is why I need you to focus on your focus because this week, right, a lot of us are gonna eat both literally and figuratively, right? And so if you're a business owner, right, you're gonna you're gonna put your sale up. You're gonna get people to— you're gonna attract people with your products and services, and you're gonna eat, right? If you're not a business owner, you're gonna go, uh, you know, during the holiday, you're gonna get together with family and you're gonna eat. And a lot of people, this is the moment where they get paralyzed. Right? This is the moment that they get stuck. They get stuck on what they stuck on, right? They celebrate. They they they they put their guard down and they start to relax. But this is not the time, right? I repeat, this is not the time to put your guard down. This is not the time to relax. This is not the time to to to to take your foot off the gas.
Right?
There's 40 days. You know what you could do in 40 days? There's 40 days left, and what you could do in 40 days is remarkable. What you could do in 40 days to close out the rest of the year— remarkable. What you could do in 40 days to, to set up 2022 in God's will— remarkable. You got 40 days, 40 days, 40 nights. Gotta live up to the hype, you know what I'm saying? And so don't get comfortable this week. I need you to keep your foot on the gas, right? I need you to put your foot on the gas.
It's not—
it's not the time to look left. It's not the time to look right. It's not the time to look back. I need you to look ahead. I need you to keep going. I need you to stay in beast mode.
You get satisfied, it goes to a state like it's almost paralyzed. Some of y'all in this room, are you paralyzed? You had a little success, you done what nobody else in your family has done, and now you chilling? Come on, you ain't hungry no more?
Max Huntin', I need you to stay focused. Why?
You should still be hungry. What have you eaten that got you satisfied? Oh, what have you done? What have you accomplished that got you so poor. I'm a contender, but the next 100 gonna change my life. Gonna change this world. We're ordinary people doing extraordinary things. If that's you and you feeling me, just say, I can.
I can.
Come on, come on. I can.
I can.
I can. Come on, one more time.
I can.
Yup, I will.
I will.
Yup, I must.
I must.
So, so I just need you to think about 3 people in your family that you love.
3 people.
3 people that you love. 3 people. You got 'em? They there? You got 'em? This is what I need you to do for me. 'Cause some of you have a hard time staying motivated for a straight 100 days. So what I need you to do for me is I need you to think about those people every day when you're doing what you're doing. If you have some days where you just wanna hit the snooze button, raise your hand for me. You wanna hit the snooze button, right? So watch this. This is what has to happen. That person that you think about has to be louder than the snooze button. So when you think about Granny, you gotta think about, do I hit the snooze button or do I get up and make it happen for Granny? Are you hearing what I'm saying? Who you doing this for?
My family.
On the days you don't feel like getting up, just think about them. Somebody tell me in this room, when you think about your siblings, when you think about mom and dad and grandma, when you think about your uncle and aunt, when you think about those coaches, those people who've been there for you, just raise your hand if you said, E.T., sleep is better than that.
Raise your hand and tell me, anybody in the room, sleep is better than them.
E.T.?
Raise your hand. Somebody tell me, E.T., you don't get it. You don't know how hard it is.
E.T.?
I probably don't. I just lived in abandoned buildings. Hey, I trash-taped. I probably don't. Maybe I ain't never been through what you've been through, but I've been through my go-through. And you don't, you don't, you don't get here by quitting when you tired. You get here by quitting when you finish, when you done.
You don't stop when you tired.
You don't stop when you tired.
You stop when you completed your execution. Execution is worship. And so I execute for my mom. I execute for my grandma. I execute for my sister. I execute for those kids in the hood Who looking for a role model? That's why I wear the hat.
Yep.
PhD. That's why I wear the days.
So when the kids in the hood look at me, they say, "If you two can do it, I can do it." Yeah.
That's why I can't quit and give up, even though I get tired just like everybody else.
Yo, we get tired like everybody else, but you can't quit.
This is my leg. This is your leg. Yeah.
Murder it.
When I ask you, you got energy.
Don't play with me.
When I tell when I say again, you got that energy for the next hundred days.
I need to feel your forty days, y'all.
I can. I can.
Come on, I can.
I can.
Come on, I can.
I can. I will.
I will.
I must.
I can. I will. I must. Hey yo, listen.
I ain't come to play.
I need you to stay so focused. Look, I need you to stay so focused. I need you to stay so focused. This is how focused I need you. This is how focused I need you. This is how focused I need you this week.
Elevation on another level. Mind bright.
We going straight in.
We going—
that's it. 40 days. I ain't got time to play with y'all. I ain't got time to play with y'all. We ain't warming up to nothing.
Go.
Ain't no time.
Why would I stop?
Hold up, hold up, hold up. Never take life for granted because sometimes life doesn't take life for granted. And if you're not who you're supposed to be, adversity is not gonna say, man, I'm gonna let you gather yourself and I'm gonna come back. Opposition is not gonna say, man, I'm gonna let you get your stuff together and I'm gonna be back. Like, I didn't know my life was gonna change. On September the 9th, I was playing football. I was doing the thing that I love. I was 8 games away from the NFL, projected top 30 draft pick. I went out and made a tackle and found myself in the emergency room that night fighting for my life. But my mother had nothing to worry about. They asked my mother, are you worried about your son? She said, I'm not worried about him at all because I know he's a survivor. What is that? And that leads me into why I keep—
They love to say that's love.
People know I live by this thing called empty the bucket, right? And people like empty the bucket ain't ain't got this cute slogan empty the bucket, but they don't know what the foundation of what it really is. They don't know the accountability behind it. They don't know the responsibility behind it. Every day in my house, I got three buckets. I got a bucket when I wake up and I look in my bedroom. It's a bucket. I got a bucket in my office. I got a bucket in my weight room at my house. And what that bucket stands for for me—that bucket means I have to give everything I got to everything I'm involved in, and it has nothing to do with the. Product, but more about my personal standard of excellence never changes, and it doesn't depend on the circumstances. It doesn't depend on a situation, and it never depends on a person. I have a personal standard of excellence for my life. I just believe I deserve to give my wife the best version of me.
Best version.
I just believe I deserve to give my kids the best version of me. Best version. The people that I'm of service to on this earth, I deserve to give them the best version of me. And so I take a personal level of pride in everything that I do because I almost lost my life behind the game of football, and God placed me on this path. So now it's not even about me. Meaning, would you do what you do if the outcome wasn't attached to what you were doing? That's why I don't even get caught up with people that do things for money. I'm not impressed with how much money you make. You know the true level of wealth? You know the true measure of wealth? Is if they took all your money, what would you be worth then? I'm gonna say it again so you can catch it.
This is everybody that's chasing that greenback, everybody that want that dollar.
If you got it and they stripped you of it all, what would you still be worth? And if you don't have the things that the process creates, you won't keep it anyway. I wasn't quitting, I wasn't giving up, I wasn't stopping. That's not my pedigree, that's not who I am, so I'm not even gonna entertain it. And I think the quicker you eliminate something, the The quicker that you make up in your mind, you're gonna get to the outcome. It's just like the Navy SEALs. It's just like the SEALs. That's why the SEALs are so bad. They make up in their mind before the mission that they're going to complete the mission. They make up in their mind before they set out on the mission, we are going to complete the mission. Meaning if it does not kill me, if I get an arm injury along the way, a leg injury along the way, a feet injury along the way, if you do not kill me, you will not stop my drive. No petty adversity will not stop me. I have to complete every mission that I set out on. One of the One of the greatest pieces of advice that my mother gave me was this: son, whenever you start, you make sure you finish.
Make sure you finish it.
And the problem with the world today, people get involved with things, and if they don't like a certain person, if they don't like the process, if it's not what they thought it was, they quit. And what they don't understand about quitting— quitting becomes a habit that doesn't just affect you. Later on in life, when you get a wife and you get some kids or you get a family, it's gonna come back to hunt you. That is why I tell you the process is more important than the product.
The process is more important than the product.
Can you take pride in what you do as an individual? And every night when you look in the mirror knowing that you gave everything you had to it, and no money doesn't have to be attached to it. It's about learning to work from the inside out in life and not from the outside in. When you work from the inside out in life, you understand your why, you understand your how, and you understand your what. Life is going to see how bad you want—
How bad do you want it?
A level of commitment to it. And what commitment is— commitment— people think commitment is just saying, yes, I'll do it, because the environment is right and it's cute. People get in certain environments, man, are you gonna do it? Do you feel like doing it? Do you think it's right? Yeah, man, let's do it. It's cool. Let's do it. Let's do it, man. What commitment is— commitment is staying true to what you said you were going to do long after the mood that you have set it in has left. Meaning when you don't feel like getting up in the morning, you get your butt up in the morning. You do what you said you were going to do anyway.
You do it anyway.
Meaning when you don't feel like sacrificing, you get your butt up and you sacrifice anyway. Meaning when you don't feel like being dedicated to it, you stay your butt dedicated anyway because you understand what the process will go on to produce later on in your life. It's not about the outcome. Eliminate the outcome. Eliminate the outcome. We're willing to impose our will on certain things. Impose your will on it. It's just as if you were facing an opponent. Impose your will on it. Life will give in to you if it's not— if it knows you're serious about whatever it is that you're trying to do. Life will give in to you. When I went back to school, I had to learn how to write all over again with my left hand. I've been right-hand dominant my whole life. You think the teacher came up to me and said, hey, I know you got a paralyzed right arm and you're learning how to write again. We're gonna give you a little leverage. We're gonna let you take your time on these 30-page papers. No. Inky, here's your 30-page paper. I need it by tomorrow. I had some great friends. I didn't have one friend that was about to knock out a 30-page paper for me. I had to sit my butt in disability services and write that paper by myself. I had to learn how to tie my shoe all over again. I had to go up to people and say, man, can you help? My roommates, can you help bathe me, man? My life totally changed. And they gave me an opportunity to stop. And most people, when you give them an opportunity to stop while they're chasing something, they take advantage of it because they feel as if, man, why did this have to happen to me? I felt as if, why not me?
Why not me?
This is the perfect opportunity to use this to be a blessing to somebody else. And you know what? It's not even about me, to be truthful. It's not even about me now. It's about repaying the people that invested in me and saw something in me when I couldn't see it in myself. Now this is the perfect time to give them a return on their investment. That's why I went on to get my master's degree. At a certain point in life, it can't just be about you. When, when do we get to the point where we start honoring the sacrifices that others have made for us? When do we get to the point where we say, Mom, I really appreciate those sacrifices you made for me, so I'm not quitting as a result of it. I guarantee you I'm coming out of Michigan State with a degree. I guarantee it. And it doesn't matter the outcome. It doesn't matter what I go through. I guarantee you. I went to my mother and I told her, I will never embarrass you. I will never quit because you sat in the park with me when I was 7 years old. So it's not even about me having a paralyzed right arm. It's not even that deep. The reason I wake up and live my life the way that I do, because I understand somebody is looking at me for my passion. Somebody is looking at me for my zeal. Somebody is looking at me for my energy. Somebody is looking at me every day to keep going, just like somebody is depending on each of you. It's not about you, man. Blessings don't come to you. Blessings flow through you.
Flow through you, y'all.
And the moment that you understand that, you will realize your existence. It's not just about you. It's a lot of people that paved the way for you to be in a position that you're in. Honor that. Have a certain level of pride in what you do. Take pride in what you do. If your last name is on something, you should operate a certain way. You shouldn't just do it just to do it.
Yeah.
I don't understand how people do that. How can people get up and just go through the flow of life? How do people do that? Like, I can't do that. When I look at my son, I can't say, son, I just got up and I flowed through life. I flowed through life today.
Don't even sound right.
Look back at me like, Dad, you just— no, I can't do that. I can't tell my wife, baby, I just strolled through life today. When I look at my wife, I tell her, no matter what happens in our life, no matter what we go through, you're gonna be straight. You're gonna be straight.
You're gonna be straight.
You'll never have to worry about a thing. My kids will never see the life that I saw when I was a kid. Yeah, I'm promising that. They're not seeing it right now. They will never see it because of who I am. And I understand who I am, and I know I'm a go-getter. When it boils down to it, I'm a go-getter, and I'm a flat-out born I'm gonna go get it, and nothing will not stop me from getting it. A lot of people, they have to be chasing something, or it has to be a reward attached to it, or they seek some type of validation, or they need some type of encouragement, a pat on the back to say, man, you're doing a good job. When you tell me I'm doing a good job or not, I'm gonna give everything I got to everything I'm involved in because that's just the way I'm cut.
That's the way I'm cut.
I'm gonna give everything I got to everything I'm involved in because that's the way I'm cut. You don't have to give me a reward. That's what I'm supposed to do. That's how I'm supposed to rock, and that's how I'm supposed to live my life. No reward, don't need no cookies. I don't need no cookies. You giving me a cookie because I'm checking in? No, I'm gonna live my life a certain type of way because this is the standard of excellence that I should possess.
Standard of excellence.
Everything that I do, it's not about the outcome, it's not about the circumstance, it's not about the situation, it's not about people. It's about me taking pride in what I do and having a certain standard of excellence. I could have worked at McDonald's. I guarantee you I would have been the best worker at McDonald's there was. I could have washed cars. I guarantee you I'd have been the best car washer there was. It had nothing to do with the outcome. That's just how I'm cut. I'm gonna go get it because I'm built for it. Stop needing a reward for what you do. Stop seeking validation for what you do. If you set out and you say you're gonna do something, do yourself a favor and don't lie to yourself. Because that is the worst thing that an individual can ever do. You think you lying to your peers, right? You think you lying to your mother. You think you lying to your teacher. You think you lying to your coach. At the end of the day, when you look in the mirror, you lying to you. Because that's your life. And 10 years from now, nobody can do anything for you. That's gonna be the life that you created, not anybody else. The life that you created. You make your bed, you gotta lay it. And the moment that we understand that, and every day we wake up, we understand that life is a blessing.
Yeah.
And if you were to check out today, how would you want to be remembered? It's bigger than you. We have to elevate to that point where we keep that standard, we keep that expectation in everything that we do, and understand that it's a lot bigger than us. Us doing everything that we do is a lot bigger than us, and we want to leave a legacy in everything that we do. People just want to be good. People just want to look cute doing things. I want to look cute. I don't care about being cool. Think I care about being cool? Man, there's people dying out here. This young black male is getting their life taken. There's people depending on us out here in the world. Think I care about being cool? I would rather somebody look at me and say, man, that cat came from the hood in Atlanta. His mother had him at 15. He came from a 2-bedroom home, 14 people. He slept on the floor with roaches and rats. He missed meals at night. His arm got paralyzed while he was in college chasing a dream. He was 8 games away He almost lost his life. He was back in class the next week. He went on to get his bachelor's degree. He went on to get his master's degree. That's cool. That's who I want to be like because he never gave up.
Never.
And I don't plan on giving up anytime soon.
Anytime soon.
As a matter of fact, I'm on record right now on tape to tell you I'll never give up.
Never.
Regardless of what may happen.
Yeah.
Because I'm chasing something different, and it's not about the product, it's about the process. That's about me understanding, me going through certain Type of weight, what it's gonna build and instill within me that's gonna sustain me for the rest of my life.
So why would I stop? Unstoppable.
Why?
Why?
Unstoppable. This is the reason why you alive, yo. Hey yo, the reason why you alive. It's to live out your purpose. Like, that's the reason. Like, do you get that? Do you understand that? Do you understand that, that, that if you didn't have purpose, you, you like, you wouldn't have breath in your body? I don't think— do y'all understand that? Hold on, hold on. Do you understand? Do you understand that the reason why you still have breath in your body is because you have purpose? Because if you don't understand that, right, if you don't understand that, that's why you wasting air. That's why you wasting your time trying to figure things out. That's why you trying to like, you know what I mean, like, like, like the reason, right, the reason why you still have breath in your body is because you still have purpose. If you did not have purpose then you will not be here. And so the fact that you're here, the fact that you woke up, the fact that you could take a deep breath— like, the fact that you still have the ability to do that means that you have purpose. And so if you have purpose, right, meaning life equals purpose, right? If you still have life, then you still have purpose. That's it. It's not, it's not more complicated than that, right? It's not more complicated than that. If you still got life, then you still got purpose. God is using your life, right, to be an example for somebody, right? God is pushing you to be the best that you could be, right? To be the best that you could be because you still have, you still have Uh, breath in your body, right? And the thing about purpose, and here's the secret about purpose, right? Purpose is always going to be bigger than you. If if what you're doing only benefits you, then it's not purpose. I'm gonna say that again. If what you're doing, if who you're being. If the only person that is benefiting is you or your immediate family, that is not purpose. Purpose is is always purpose is always bigger than you. Always. It's always bigger than you. It's all your the work that you do, the person that you are will always will always. It will always be bigger than you. And so if, if, if you're thinking about, um, how to make ends meet, if you're thinking about how to pay bills, if you're thinking about, um, where you're gonna vacation, if you're thinking about a bigger house, if you're thinking about a car, if you're, if you're, if you're think— whatever you're thinking about, and if you're the only person that benefits from that Then then then your then your purpose is not big enough. And so I need I need I need you to shine in your purpose. I need you to shine. I need you to shine in your purpose. I need you to shine. We ain't come to play today. We ain't come to play. We ain't come to play.
I'm on government assistance, and I've run out of money, and I had to buy Pampers for Jelani, and I had eleven dollars and forty-two cents in the bank. And I remember wrapping my son in a towel for 2 days. I remember the second day, like you said, I had my— stuck my hand on Jelani's stomach and I said, don't worry, baby, Mommy will never be this broke or broken again. And that day, what shifted for me—
I see.
Was I was willing— and I don't know if this is gonna sound crazy— I was willing to completely die to any form of me that I had been so that I can birth the woman that I was becoming. The reason why a lot of people won't become who they want is because they're too attached to who they've been.
Too attached.
And you hear it all the time when people say, I've always been this way. Okay, well, if that's working for you, keep doing that. I knew it wasn't working for me any longer. I had hit my version of rock bottom, so I was willing to let go of everything and everybody. See, another reason why people won't get there is because the doorway is for you to fit through.
Yep.
You trying to carry everybody else through because you're trying to be Rescue 911, and you gotta rescue you first. I am much more valuable to my family and to my community because I was willing to let them go, go through the door myself, teach myself, learn myself, condition myself, and then come back and get them. I'm much more valuable to them now. But I had to go through a window time of 10 years of judgment, You leaving us, hanging out with white people all the time. You going to these crazy countries. We don't know what you— I have to be willing to, to allow my conviction to make me inconvenienced. See, we want to grow, but we want to stay liked by everybody. I was willing to be my own rescue at the risk of your approval.
Mm.
Most of us aren't like that. Facebook is an example. We want to be liked. Well, I woke up and I liked myself today, so your like is extra. My job is to like me first. I was willing to say every day, Lisa, you like you? Lisa, are you proud of you? Lisa, are you playing full out? Every day before I checked in with anybody else. I was willing to inconvenience my entire life. My entire life. I was willing to disrupt my entire life to buy my future, to buy my possibility, to give my dream a chance. See, we're not supposed to tuck our dreams in on the pillow when we get up in the morning. We're not supposed to leave them at home. We go and fulfill somebody else's dream. We're not supposed to do that. That's not what we're wired to do. That's not who we are. Your human spirit doesn't care about the economy. The human spirit doesn't care that my son's father went to prison. Like, the human spirit doesn't care what's happened to your family. The human spirit doesn't care about the past. You may have been molested, or your family may have been broke, or, or you may have been betrayed, or you may have a divorce. Your human spirit doesn't care about any of that. Your human spirit simply says— What's our command for tomorrow? What do you want to create? It's not keeping score. Your brain is keeping score.
Your brain is keeping score.
Your brain is designed to keep you safe. Your soul, your intuition, your human spirit is designed to make you soar. When you get to the edge, your brain will always tell you to step back. It's always going to tell you to step back. Because you can fall. Always. It's going to tell you step back because before you fail, the last time you did this, you saw someone else fail. You could hurt. You could be off work. It's going to tell you. It's designed to keep you safe. So you have to be willing to play between your brain and your soul. And on some days, you've got to just listen to your soul and you got to say, I'm gonna leap. I'm gonna get to the edge. Most people are at the edge and you're standing at the edge and you're watching Everyone else fly. That's Pimp My Ride, Watch My Cribs, all this stuff, you know, watching people's lives on Facebook. You're at the edge watching someone else live, wondering what it's gonna be like when you jump without ever jumping. And I'm just here to tell you, jump. Because only 3 things can happen. You're either gonna jump and fly, or you're gonna jump and fall on something soft, or you're gonna fall down hard. Either way, you're gonna You already know you got what it takes to get back up. You're not— your greatest fear is not that you will fall. Your greatest fear is that you will live a full life and never fly, that you never lived. You're not afraid of dying. You're afraid of dying before the world sees who you really are, before they really get your fingerprint, before they really feel your breath, before they really get your contribution, before they really feel you. That's what you don't want to happen. You don't want to leave this place without us knowing you were here. That's right. All I'm doing is giving my dream a chance, and I'm not extraordinary.
I'm not extraordinary. You don't get off that easy.
I'm an ordinary woman who chooses every day to make one more extraordinary decision. Everything that I need to get back up, I have in me. If I don't have what I need, I can go get it. Once I figured that out, the The world was my playground. The question is just, where do I go get it? Oh, I don't know about that. Where do I go get it? And I don't come from a learning background where I was a great student. I wasn't— my highest grade in school was a C+. And when I got a C+, I did the happy dance. And so I didn't have a background where studying was natural for me. But when I realized that if I go study something and I learn it, I own it, it's mine now.
Right.
Man, it was crazy because all through school I struggled. English class. My English teacher told me I was the weakest writer she ever met in her entire life. Lovely. Yeah, lovely. And the same year I took a speech class, and my speech teacher, he said, quote unquote, Miss Nichols, I recommend you never speak in public, that you get a desk job. And so I— yeah, it just, it's just, you know, it was, it was demotivated people, um, sad people. Hurt people hurt people. Hurt people make other people sad. Bottom line, don't take it personal. Hurt people hurt. See, most people want the convenience of transformation without the inconvenience required, required for transformation. So required for transformation— to repeat this— your conviction, what you're passionate about, your conviction and your convenience don't live on the same block. Don't live on the same block. They ain't even in the same zip code. So if you want to have a conviction for something, you have to sign up, sign up to be inconvenienced. We're trying to find convictions and passion and breakthrough on the inside of our box. But when you realize that the box doesn't even exist, like someone made up, oh, you're playing outside the box, so we all bought into there's a box. Well, I don't live in— I don't even own a box. I don't even— I don't even want to get in your box. You better come out here because I ain't getting in there. And so when you start thinking like that, Tom, all of a sudden everything is possible. So I, you know, I disrupt people when I say you want to make me extraordinary because it lets you off the hook. What if the God that we call God, the divine, whatever your faith is, what if there's no partial? It's not going to give me a hookup and not give you one. Not going to give me an opportunity and not give you one. I'm just going to go after it. If I die down the treadmill, like Will Smith said, I'm going to be on the treadmill running. You know, I'm not— I'm just not going to stop because I believe all things are available to us. I'm just going to go after them. Are you willing? And then that is so disruptive because then you got to make a decision.
Liquid means rewind. Gunshot means forward. You requested it, so we rewind.
Ready and motivation combined. That's inspiration for another trip.
Shine Right Radio. Elevate your mind.
And I'd run out of money, and I had to buy Pampers for July, and I had $11.42. People in the back. And I remember—
For the people who just came in.

Conviction— what you're passionate about, your conviction and your convenience don't live on the same block. They ain't even in the same zip code. You know, I'm not— I'm just not gonna stop because I believe all things are available to us. I'm just willing to go after them. Are you willing? And then that is so disruptive because then you got to make a decision. Because it's easier to live inside the parameters of, well, as a Black woman, well, as born and raised in South Central, well, I'm academically— I'm dyslexic. I'm dyslexic. I wrote 7 books. I'm dyslexic. So just knowing, like, I'm not perfect. What I do really well is I manage my imperfections.
Manage your imperfections.
Stop waiting for perfect. It's an illusion that will never come to you, and it's an excuse to never show up and play. Your story is not meant to be your fortress. Your story is meant to be your fuel. Any story. Like, the fact— the beauty of me being one of the top 1% earners in America is that I was on government assistance, right? Like, that's the beauty. Like, come on, it wouldn't be a big deal if my family was rich. Like, whatever. Like, I'm supposed to do something. The beauty is that when you show the Little Engine That Could story, like, I'm not gonna run fast, but I ain't gonna stop running. I might slow down and have to breathe and catch my breath, but I'm not stopping. I believe all things are available to all of us, and good people should do well, because when good people do well, good people just do more good in the world. I'm that same girl who ran track for Dorsey High School, who struggled to get through high school, who got kicked out of college I couldn't afford to stay. I was on government. I'm that same girl. I'm that same girl. I don't forget her. I'm also that same woman who runs a multi-million dollar business. I'm also the same woman who has 7 bestsellers. I own both of those. I own all of them. I don't shrink to my greatness.
Yeah.
I don't live inside of my soul. If you can own your brilliance while owning your, your imperfections, If you can own your giant—
Own your giant.
Owning your smallness.
Owning your smallness.
If you can live in duality, constant duality, the freedom will be earth-shaking if you can live in that. See, either you don't want to be as great as you really are and you're trying to dim your light so that others won't feel insecure about themselves in your presence, and so you keep playing at 79 watts When you know you're supposed to shine at 159 watts and you keep checking the temperature of the room to see what the room can handle versus just giving the room to you and letting them— if your light's too bright, then let them put on some shades. Can you give yourself permission to live in the duality of your imperfections and your smallness and what you're learning and what you still have to learn and your greatness and your brilliance and your light? Can you allow them to coexist and then serve them up to the world? To love you, to see you, to inhale you, to judge you, to leave you, to love you. You're just— some of us are just as afraid of being loved as we are to be left. If you go where you've never gone, do what you've never done, and say what you've never said, you'll become the woman and the man you've always known yourself to be.
All right, y'all, your number one source for So this, so look, so this week is not, this is not the time to let up, put your foot off the gas. It's not the time to put your foot off the gas. It's not the time to let up. It's not the time to eat and get lazy. This is the time to keep going. You got 40 days, 40 days, 40 nights. Gotta live up to the hype. This is what I need you to do.
You cannot be a believer. I need you to be committed. Are you committed? Because without commitment, nothing happens. If you don't learn to give like you learn to get, every area that there is not less than possible, it will die. Reciprocity. What do you give back for what you get? If you're not committed, you're not gonna make it. Even the ones with the personalities you don't like, you have to be committed.
Time to soldier up, y'all.
Through the storm and the rain and the heartache and the pain and the disappointment, you have to believe in the we and the us and not the me and the you. Or you're not gonna make it. It's a commitment, it's not a feeling. Until you have had the taste of finishing, you will not respect yourself. Until you follow through, until something is done come hell or high water, tears and struggles and pain, and you go through it anyway and you show up And you continue to fight on no matter the circumstances. After a while, something begins to win on the inside.
I'm coming with a vengeance.
Anytime you need something that you can't give to yourself, you're at the mercy of somebody else. And when they don't come through, you got pain. And what you become is the consequences of what you didn't get. It's an urge. It's an urge, truth be told. Every champion has felt it. Every president has felt it. Every king has felt it. Every lion has felt it. Every winner has felt it. Every soldier has felt it. Every victorious person has felt it. The urge to quit.
The urge to quit.
To give up on your dreams. Don't you give up on your dreams. You don't have the help, and you don't have the family for it, and you don't have the background for it, and you don't have the friends for it. Don't you give up on your dream.
Don't you give in. Don't you give up.
Don't you do it. It may take you twice as long. You may have to take courses and classes. You might not read as fast. You might not move as quick. You might not have as much.
But don't you give up.
I'm coming with a vengeance!
Don't you quit. You do make a difference. You do make a difference. You do make a difference. As weak as you are, as tired as you are, as many mistakes as you make, you do make a difference. There is something they would lose if you were not there. There was something that they would miss if you were not there.
You do, you do make a difference.
I don't care if you don't have the money.
I don't care if you don't got the money.
You don't got the help.
You don't have the You don't got the family for it.
You don't have the background for it, and you don't have any friends for it. Don't you give up on your dream. Don't you do it. Don't you do it. Don't you do it. Don't you quit. You do make a difference. You do make a difference. You do make a difference. As weak as you are, as tired as you are, as many mistakes as you made, you do make a difference. There is something they would lose if you were not there. There was something that they would miss if you were not there. You do make a difference.
