6.30.21 - The Ash Cash Show

In this live morning episode of the Ash Cash Show, host Ash Exantus welcomes motivational powerhouses Ray Lewis, Eric Thomas, Inky Johnson, and references Tony Robbins to deliver a high‑energy, audience‑driven session focused on adopting a "beast mode" mindset. The show weaves animal metaphors (lion, eagle, alligator) to illustrate mental dominance, stresses the importance of patience paired with hustle, and expands the concept of abundance to include energetic alignment with money, love, and health. A practical goal‑setting framework—the Massive Action Plan (MAP)—is introduced via Tony Robbins, while Inky Johnson shares his "empty the bucket" philosophy rooted in his personal injury story, emphasizing process over product. Ray Lewis and Eric Thomas reinforce a never‑quit, finish‑what‑you‑start ethic, likening it to Navy SEAL mental preparation. Throughout, Ash engages the live audience with badge shout‑outs, calls to share the show, and a prompt to think of three loved ones as daily motivation. The episode blends motivational storytelling, actionable frameworks, and community interaction to inspire listeners to elevate their mindset, commit to relentless effort, and align their energy with their desired outcomes.

Yo, share.
Yo, share this with ten people. We got some smoke today. It's winning Wednesday. I got— look at my goosebumps.
I, I, I feel— I, I feel it.
I feel it in my spirit. I feel it in my spirit.
All right, let's go.
Happy Wednesday, my destined for greatness. Welcome to the day that you realize that what is for you is for you, and no one can ever take it away. Today's daily aspiration is dedicated to having patience. The king of the jungle is usually crowned at birth. It is known from the start who will take over the throne, so it becomes simply a matter of grooming and a matter of time. Similar to the lion, we are destined for greatness and can have whatever our hearts desire, but the only caveat is that we must figure out what that is. Our greatness has been solidified, but oftentimes once we recognize our true desires, we often have the tendency to want it to happen immediately. We work towards our goals, but if it doesn't seem like it's happening fast enough, we get frustrated and try to force the issue. What we need to understand is that in order to be successful We must have patience. All you can do is all you can do. Being frustrated, impatient, and trying to force your success will only push you back further. Stay focused and know that your greatness is guaranteed as long as you keep moving in the right direction. As the saying goes, everything comes to those who hustle while they wait. Hustle hard and have patience to know that your treasure is coming. The world is yours and nothing can stop you. I'll leave you a couple of quotes, and the first one's by Fulton, uh, J. Sheen, and it says, patience is power. Patience is not absence of action. Rather, it is timing. It waits on the right time to act for the right principles and in the right way. Next quote, which is a Chinese proverb, and it says, with time and patience, the mulberry leaf becomes a grown— a silk gown. And last but not least, By Hal Hubbard, and it says, knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass, I can appreciate persistence. Don't let that go over your head. And I'm gonna give you a bonus by John Quincy Adams, and it says, patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish. Um, So today's daily aspiration is about, you know, abundance.
Abundance is your birthright.
If you know and understand that, if you know that you were born to greatness, if you know you, you the king, you the queen of the jungle, you sit on the throne, everything you ever, everything you ever asked for has already been solidified. It's, it's, it's a, it's already been, they already said yes. God already said yes.
It's just yours, right.
It's yours. And you just have to have— you just have to have the faith though, right. You just have to have faith that it's yours and move accordingly, you know what I'm saying. And so, I, you know, I don't even want to waste time today. I don't even want to waste time today. I want to get right to it, you know what I'm saying. I want to get right to it. I want to make sure, you know, I want to make sure that we get into it. We giving you the food. You know, Fash Out, uh, uh, Free to Live 09, salute, salute. BCJDC in the building, salute, salute, salute. Uh, you win it, Sade Yvette, what up, salute, salute, salute. Where's CJ, what up, salute, salute. Let's go, let's go, Rich Rosens, salute. Salute, salute, salute. Is it— is, is, is, is the energy for me? All right, so we, we gonna, we gonna run right through it though. We gonna run right through it. We gonna run right through it because I need, I need, I need y'all to— I need y'all to get this energy though. I need y'all to get this energy. Wait, hold on. Nah, hold on, Mac. I need this. Hold on, will we save this joint up? Oh, there we go. I'm about to say, I'm about to say iCloud because I got a computer upstairs, and so I saved the track this morning and I was like, now where is that? Where it at though? Um, yeah, I'm gonna let Ray Lewis and ET talk to you real quick. They got a message, you know what I'm saying? They got a message for you. They got a message for you. Uh, yeah, let's, let's just go. Let's get into it because this is about being in beast mode.
If the lion is the king of the jungle, yep, how can he be the king of the jungle?
Griff, thank you for the badge love. If he's not the biggest, he's not the biggest.
The elephant is probably one of the biggest. Yep, he can't be the fastest because that's the cheetah.
Yep, Panther Inc, thank you for the badge love. When it's the elevation, thank you for the badge love.
He's not the biggest, the fastest, or the smartest. So how does a lion—
Beyond blessed.
That's the only difference of a lion and an elephant. When a lion walks up and sees an elephant, he thinks lunch. The elephant thinks run. And it's all mentality, because when a male lion walks up, he may be outnumbered by a pack of hyenas. But I'm king of my jungle because of my mentality. If an eagle ever sees a bird flying at the same altitude that he's flying at, it must be another eagle.
Wait, hold on, wait, hold on, chill, Ray. Look, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. If an eagle— if an eagle ever sees another bird flying at the same altitude It has to be an eagle. It has to wait. Hold on, let me let him finish.
My fault.
I'm gonna let him finish.
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. It must be another eagle because pigeons don't fly the altitudes of eagles. And if you find yourself flying with pigeons, you may be flying too low.
Super P Heroes.
So you show me your crowd, I'll show you your future. You show me where you really trying to go in life. I tell you, you need to go research. Push through pain enough and there's glory on the other side, but you gotta get through it.
Wait, let me go back. I need y'all to catch this.
The lion is the king of the jungle. How can he be the king of the jungle if he's not the biggest? The elephant is probably one of the biggest. He can't be the fastest because that's the cheetah. He can't be the smartest. So he's not the biggest, the fastest, or the smartest. So how does a lion become the king of the jungle? It's mentality. That's the only difference of a lion and an elephant.
The Cabo Show, suck on that.
A lion walks up and sees an elephant, he thinks lunch. An elephant thinks run. And it's all mentality, because when a male lion walks up, he may be outnumbered by a pack of hyenas, But I'm king of my jungle because of my mentality. If an eagle ever sees a bird flying at the same altitude that he's flying at, it must be another eagle.
It must be another eagle because pigeons don't fly the altitude of eagles.
And if you find yourself flying with pigeons, you may be flying too low.
Wait, I, I need, I need y'all to catch that bot. Nerlene, sagafet. Nerlene in the building. Graphic PD BD in the building. Thank you for tapping in. Ill Flow, peace God. JC in the building. Shannon Smith in the building. D Bowden in the building. Bass Moreno in the building.
Yo, chill. Hold on.
Hold on.
Hold on.
I need y'all. I need. I gotta. I gotta make sure y'all caught that bar though. I need. I gotta make sure y'all caught that bar. If a if an eagle Right. If an eagle is flying and sees another bird, in its mind it's like, yo, it got to be another eagle because I fly on a different altitude. But it— because a pigeon, right, a pigeon can't fly on the same altitude as an eagle. And so, If you see yourself flying with pigeons, you got to raise your altitude. And so, I need you all to understand that, right, before we go any further. I need you to understand that everything is about mentality, everything is about energetic alignment, right. In order for you to get to the next level, you just got to soar higher, right. Because if you're around a bunch of pigeons, That means you flying too low. That means your goal's too low, your why's too low, your reason's too low, everything's too low, right. Because the moment you start soaring higher and it's not even about finding your tribe. I don't like that. I believe you attract your tribe. I don't believe that you got to find nothing. There's nothing in life that you got to find, you have everything right now. You don't have to find nothing. All you got to do is to be in energetic alignment with the things that you desire. If you are in energetic alignment with millions in your bank account or millions as your net worth, then your net worth will be in the millions. If you are in energetic alignment with passive income and not having to work hard for money, then you will be in energetic alignment with that. If you are in energetic alignment with love, with unconditional love, with pure love, with love that doesn't judge you, love that doesn't keep score, if you are in energetic alignment with that, then that's what you will have. If there's anything in your life—
Truth serum.
If there's anything in your life that you feel is not there, that you feel is missing, you are not in energetic alignment with it, right. You need to be in energetic alignment, you need to raise your vibration, you need to soar, you need to get on the level of eagles. Because I promise you, and that's why I always say sit still. A lot of times people think it's getting, you know, let me get busy. Yo, I'm not doing enough. The truth of the matter, you're not being enough. Big bar. A lot of times people look at their situation and they're like, yo, why I'm not soaring?
Why I don't have this tribe? Why, why, why?
Yo, I just—
I must not be doing enough. And the truth of the matter is that it's not that you're not doing enough, you're not being enough. I don't, I don't care what the pigeon does. The pigeon is still a pigeon. It cannot, it cannot soar on, on, on that, on the level of the eagle.
You could try to change, and that's just the top layer, fam.
You was who you was when you got here. I don't care what the pigeon does. The pigeon is not soaring at the same, at the same level as an eagle. And so, at the end of the day, a lot of us are trying to do like, yo, let me just do— yo, I'm not doing enough. And the truth of the matter is that you're not being enough. Yo, be your greatness, right. Be your greatness because as you are being, as you are being, you start to get to that frequency, to that energetic alignment. Right, that alignment that allows you to soar, that alignment that allows you to attract your tribe, that alignment that takes you to the next level of life. It ain't about doing. It ain't about doing. It's about being. Who are you being? Are you being greatness on display? Are you being greatness? And in being greatness, are you are you operating in excellence or are you waiting to see? Are you operating excellence or are you waiting to see? All right, hold on.
They got to talk to you. My fault, my fault. So you show me your crowd. I'll show you your future. You show me where you really trying to go in life, I'll tell you what eagles you need to go research. Push through pain enough and there's glory on the other side, but you got to get through it. Sometimes getting through it is coming out your comfort zone. See, sometimes we're so comfortable now, right? There's a bunch of people sitting in this— it's in this line right now. We didn't have followers, we didn't have nobody encouraging us. We didn't have people to go on Instagram and look at. All we had to do was get up every day and go back to work and start all over again. And the only approval was self-approval.
Everybody wants to be a millionaire. Everybody wants to live in a certain neighborhood. Everybody wants to be the top of the top. Everybody wants to be phenomenal until it's time to do what phenomenal does. Everybody. I told you, that's why I'm not afraid. I'm not, I'm not scared. I'm not scared that some kid's gonna take my spot. If he does, he's gonna have to do it with sweat, he's gonna have to do it with tears, he's gonna have to do it with blood. He is going to have to get up at 2:30 in the morning. If he can get up every day at 2:30, he deserves to take my spot. Some people are taking your spot and they shouldn't take it, but because you're average, it's easy to take your spot. It's easy. It's easy to get to the place before you get there. It's easy to take that client. before you get to them. It's easy. It's easy to beat you. Why? You average. It's easy to beat you. You're excited. You come to the conference, you listen to the stuff, you're excited. But let me tell you something, everybody wants to be a beast.
Thank you for the badge love.
Turn the beast mode on. If you can take all this information and turn beast mode on, there's absolutely— look, see, I don't know what time it is. I'm not, I'm not sure. I'm on a whole different time zone. I don't really know what's going on. I think things would be a lot better. My body is not getting the sleep that it's supposed to get. One time I'm sleeping at 9, another time I'm sleeping at 8:30 at night, another time I'm signing books at 9 PM. I don't care about the time. My body does not go with the time. I teach my body, you adjust to the engagement, you adjust to the gig, you adjust to the presentation, you adjust to the people. Why? You're not average, you beast mode. I don't care about what time it is. I have an opportunity of a lifetime. I'm in Australia every single time. I don't care if it's Melbourne, I don't care if it's Brisbane, I don't care if it's Sydney, whatever it is. And whatever it is, I've got to be in beast mode.
Why?
Because if I'm not in beast mode, Gwen's not bringing me back. I have to be in beast mode 24/7. And your problem is you're like a uni— a university class. You're on beast mode Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Tuesday, Thursday, beast mode. Beast mode, 10 AM to 12. Beast mode, 1 to 5. I challenge you, I challenge you to make up the gap. I challenge you to go from average. I challenge you to go from good. I challenge you to go from great. And I challenge you to be phenomenal. I challenge you to live in beast mode because beast mode makes more money than average does.
Period.
Where you guys are, everybody gonna be trying to give 100, so you gotta go 120, right? When I tell you motivation is life, I tell you that I need you the next 100 days, I need you to stay plugged in, right? Because the days you're not plugged in are the days you don't get 120.
They say an alligator is so ferocious it'll kill a lion, but I can kill it. I can kill an alligator with my bare hands.
Little old E.T., how?
They say when you wanna kill an alligator, you kill it right after it eats. 'Cause right after it eats, it gets satisfied.
Don't miss this bar.
Watch this bar. Some of y'all in this room, are you paralyzed? You had a little success, you done with nobody else in your family, you done and now you chilling?
Come on, you ain't hungry no more? Next 100, I need you to stay focused.
Why?
You should still be hungry. What have you eaten that got you satisfied? What have you done? What have you accomplished I got you so far.
Chill, E. I'm a contender, but the next 100 gonna change my life. It's gonna change this world. We're ordinary people doing extraordinary things. If that's you and you feeling me, just say, I can.
I can.
Come on, come on. I can.
I can.
I can.
Come on, one more time.
I can.
Yep.
I will.
I will.
Yep.
I must.
I must.
So I just need you to think about 3 people in your family that you love. 3 people. 3 people that you love. 3 people. You got them? They there? You got them?
Wait, hold on.
Let me let me.
I can't let that go. I can't look. I can't let that go over your head.
Listen.
Hey yo, listen. The alligator. The alligator is ferocious, right? The alligator is ferocious. The alligator could devour you, right? But the best time, the best time to kill an alligator is after it eats. Because after the alligator eats, it goes into— it's satisfied. It's satisfied, and so it goes almost into like paralysis. Because it's satisfying, and that metaphor is the most one of the one of the most powerful metaphors ever. Because a lot of us, we we take the first step, we get satisfied, and we and and now we we chilling. Now we just now we we we like all right, I took the first step. All right, I'm cool. But we got to finish where we start. But hold on, E.T. got let me let me take that back. E.T. got some more bars.
You done with no. Everybody else in your family is done, and now you chilling?
Come on, you ain't hungry no more?
Wait, hold on, hold on. You ain't hungry no more? Wait, wait, hold on.
What am I?
What did I do? What did I do? Hold on, my fault.
My fault.
I'm gonna take it back.
The lion is the king of the jungle.
We gonna, we gonna rewind.
How can he be the king of the jungle if he's not the biggest? The elephant is probably one of the biggest. He can't be the fastest because that's the cheetah. He can't be the smartest. So he's not the biggest, the fastest, or the smartest. So how does the lion become the king of the jungle? It's mentality. That's the only difference of a lion and an elephant. When a lion walks up and sees an elephant—
Behind the wheel, thanks for the back love.
The elephant thinks to run, and it's all mentality. Because when a male lion walks up, he may be outnumbered by a pack of hyenas, but I'm king of my jungle because of my mentality. If an eagle ever sees a bird flying at the same altitude that he's flying at, it must be another eagle. It must be another eagle, because pigeons don't fly the altitudes of eagles. Wow.
It's easy to beat you. You're excited. You come to the conference, you listen to the stuff, you're excited. But let me tell you something, everybody wants to be a beast. Turn the beast mode on. If you can take all this information and turn beast mode on, there's absolutely no way Look, see, I don't know what time it is. I'm not, I'm not you. I'm on a whole different time zone. But I can kill, I can kill an alligator with my bare hands.
Little old E.T., how?
They say when you want to kill an alligator, you kill it right after it eats. Because right after it eats, you get satisfied and it goes to a state like it's almost paralyzed. Some of y'all in this room, are you paralyzed? You had a little success, you done what nobody else in your family has done, and now you chilling?
Come on, you ain't hungry no more?
You not hungry no more?
I need you to stay focused. Why? You should still be hungry. What have you done? What have you accomplished that got you so full?
I'm a contender, but the next 100 gonna change my life. It's gonna change this world. We're ordinary people doing extraordinary things. If that's you and you feeling me, just say, I can. I can.
Come on, come on. I can.
I can.
I can.
Come on, one more time.
Yep.
I will.
I will.
Yep. I must.
I must.
So I just need you to think about 3 people in your family that you love. 3 people. 3 people that you love. 3 people. You got them?
They there?
You got them? This is what I need you to do for me. Because some of you have a hard time staying motivated for a straight 100 days. So what I need you to do for me is I need you to think about those people every day when you're doing what you're doing. If you have some days where you just want to hit the snooze button, raise your hand for me. You want to hit the snooze button, right? So watch this. This is what has to happen.
That person that you think about has to be louder than the snooze button. So when you think about Granny, you gotta think about, do I hit the snooze button or do I get up and make it happen for Granny? Are you hearing what I'm saying? Who you doing this for? On the days you don't feel like getting up, think about them. Somebody tell me in this room, when you think about your siblings, when you think about mom and dad and grandma, when you think about your uncle and aunt, when you think about those coaches, those people who've been there for you, just raise your hand if you said, sleep is better than that. Raise your hand and tell me, anybody in the room, sleep is better than them?
E?
Raise your hand, somebody tell me. E.T., you don't get it. You don't know how hard it is. E?
I probably don't. I just lived in abandoned buildings.
A.I.
trash cans.
I probably don't.
Maybe I ain't never been through what you've been through, but I've been through my go-throughs.
You don't get here by quitting when you tired. You get here by quitting when you finished. Done. You don't stop when you tired.
You stop when you done.
You stop when you completed and executed. Execution is worship. And so I execute for my mom. I execute for my grandma. I execute for my sister. I execute for those kids in the hood who looking for a role model. That's why I wear the hat with PhD.
That's why I wear the J's.
So when the kids in the hood look at me, they say, if you too can do it, I can do it. That's why I can't quit and give up, even though I get tired just like everybody else.
Why?
Because this is what I do.
This is my leg.
This is your leg. You gotta murder it. So when I ask you, you got energy, don't play with me. When I say again, you got that energy for the next 100 days, I need to feel your soul in this room. All right, I can.
Come on, I can.
Come on, I can.
I will. I must.
Come on, I can.
I will.
Yo, bring that back. Hip-hop motivation on another level.
Mind Right Radio.
Elevate your mind, you elevate your life.
Um, man, I, yeah, I don't even know. I, I might have to just take requests. I don't even know where to go from here. Wait, how do you follow up with that? How do you follow up with that?
I don't know.
I don't know where to go from here.
I don't know where to go.
Daddy's life. Thank you.
Purpose is power. Questions you know are what? Why do I want this? Why is this so important to me?
Why is this a must for me?
How will I enjoy this? Here's the M in RPM. The M is a MAP, a Massive Action Plan. Once you know exactly what it is you want, once you're absolutely clear in your mind in terms of your purpose, like why this must be, what juices you, why you want to do this, then you need the M. You need a MAP, a Massive Action Plan. Why a Massive Action Plan? Because small plans don't produce any result. How many of you have ever set a goal, been juiced about it, and gone for it, and your plan miserably failed? So I Our goal is not to be anal. Our goal is to create a map with so many choices that if one doesn't work, another one will, another one will. Because if you try something that doesn't work and you don't have another plan, basically you lose all momentum. So our goal is to brainstorm out as many ways as possible to get that result in the shortest period of time. So it's more like art. So now I can make it this way, this way, this way, this way. I can try it many different ways. And think of a map as being like this. A map is the way you navigate from where you are to where you want to go. Now, if you got a map, you got some power. But for the map to be valuable, you got to know 2 answers. Number one, you got to know where do you want to go. If you go to the map and you don't know where you want to go, the map is worthless. The second thing you got to know is where are you. If you don't know where you are and you know where you want to go, you're not going to navigate accurately. Question you're going to ask yourself is is what specific action do I need to take in order to get this result I'm committed to? What specific action do I need to take in order to get the result I'm committed to?

I picked out the locks and I buy up the block and I know I'm a gift but I dig out the box and they want me Never take life for granted because sometimes life doesn't send a warning shot. And if you're not who you're supposed to be, adversity is not gonna say, man, I'm gonna let you gather yourself and I'm gonna come back. Opposition is not gonna say, man, I'm gonna let you get your stuff together and I'm gonna be back. Like, I didn't know my life was gonna change on September the 9th. I was playing football, I was doing the thing that I love. I was 8 games away from the NFL, projected top 30 draft pick. I went out and made a tackle and found myself in the emergency room that night fighting for my life. But my mother had nothing to worry about. They asked my mother, are you worried about your son? She said, I'm not worried about him at all. Because I know he's a survivor. What is that? And that leads me into why I keep this bucket with me. You know, a lot of people know I live by this thing called empty the bucket, right? And people like empty the bucket ain't got this cute slogan empty the bucket, but they don't know what the foundation of what it really is. They don't know the accountability behind it. They don't know the responsibility behind it. Every day at my house I got 3 buckets. I got a bucket when I wake up and I look in my bedroom, it's a bucket. I got a bucket in my office I got a bucket. And what that bucket stands for, for me, that bucket means I have to give everything I got to everything I'm involved in. It has nothing to do with the product, but more about my personal standard of excellence never changes. And it doesn't depend on the circumstances, it doesn't depend on the situation, and it never depends on a person. I have a personal standard of excellence for my life. I just believe I deserve to give my wife the best version of me. I just believe I deserve to give my kids the best version of me. I just believe the people that I'm of service to on this earth, I deserve to give them the best version of me. And so I take a personal level of pride in everything that I do because I almost lost my life behind the game of football, and God placed me on this path. And so now it's not even about me. Meaning, would you do what you do if the outcome wasn't attached to what you were doing? That's why I don't even get caught up with people that do things for money. I'm not impressed with how much money you make.
You know the true level of wealth?
You know the true measure of wealth? Is if they took all your money, what would you be worth then? I'm gonna say it again so you can catch it.
This everybody that's chasing that greenback, everybody that want that dollar.
If you got it and they stripped you of it all, what would you still be worth?
Nothing.
And if you don't have the things that the process creates, you won't keep it anyway. I wasn't quitting, I wasn't giving up, I wasn't stopping. That's not my pedigree, that's not who I am, so I'm not even gonna entertain it. And I think the quicker you eliminate something, the quicker that you make up in your mind you're gonna get to the outcome. It's just like the Navy SEALs, it's just like the SEALs. That's why the SEALs are so bad. They make up in their mind before the mission that they're going to complete the mission. They make up in their mind before they set out on a mission, we are going to complete the mission. Meaning if it does not kill me, if I get an arm injury along the way, a leg injury along the way, a feet injury along the way, if you do not kill me, you will not stop my drive. No petty adversity will not stop me. I have to complete every mission that I set out on. One of the greatest pieces of advice that my mother gave me was this, son, whenever you start, you make sure you finish. And the problem with the world today, people get involved with things—

You know the true measure of wealth? Is if they took all your money, what would you be worth then? I'm gonna say it again so you can catch it.
Just everybody that's chasing that greenback, everybody that want that dollar.
If you got it and they stripped you of it all, What would you still be worth? And if you don't have the things that the process creates, you won't keep it anyway. I wasn't quitting, I wasn't giving up, I wasn't stopping. That's not my pedigree, that's not who I am, and so I'm not even gonna entertain it. One of the greatest pieces of advice that my mother gave me was this, son, whenever you start, you make sure you finish.
Make sure you finish.
And the problem with the world is And if they don't like a certain person, if they don't like the process, if it's not what they thought it was, they quit. And what they don't understand about quitting— quitting becomes a habit that doesn't just affect you. Later on in life, when you get a wife and you get some kids or you get a family, it's going to come back to haunt you. And it will one day affect them. That is why I tell you the process is more important than the product. It's not even about the outcome for me. It's about can you take pride in what you do as an individual? Every night when you look in the mirror, Knowing that you gave everything you had to it. And no money doesn't have to be attached to it. It's about learning to work from the inside out in life and not from the outside in. When you work from the inside out in life, you understand your why, you understand your how, and you understand your what. Life is going to see how bad you want what you say you want. And so if there's never a level of commitment to it— and what commitment is, commitment, people think commitment is just saying, hey girl, I don't think we got enough Because the environment is right. People get in certain environments, man, are you gonna do it? Do you feel like doing it? Do you think it's right? Yeah, man, let's do it. It's cool. Let's do it. Let's do it, man. But what commitment is— commitment is staying true to what you said you were going to do long after the mood that you have set it in has left. Meaning when you don't feel like getting up in the morning, you get your butt up in the morning. You do what you said you were going to do anyway. Meaning when you don't feel like sacrificing, you get your butt up And you sacrifice anyway, meaning when you don't feel like being dedicated to it, you stay your butt dedicated anyway because you understand what the process will go on to produce later on in your life. It's not about the outcome. Eliminate the outcome. And we have to get to the point where we're willing to impose our will on certain things.
Impose your will on it.
Impose your will on it. It's just as if you were facing an opponent. Impose your will on it. Life will give in to you if it knows you're serious about it. about whatever it is that you're trying to do, life will give in to you. When I went back to school, I had to learn how to write all over again with my left hand. I've been right-hand dominant my whole life. You think the teacher came up to me and said, Ink, I know you got a paralyzed right arm and you don't know how to write again. We're gonna give you a little leverage. We're gonna let you take your time on these 30-page papers. No. Inky, here's your 30-page paper. I need it by tomorrow. Now, I had some great friends. I didn't have one friend that was about to knock out a 30-page paper for me.
Salute, salute, salute.
I had to send my brother in disability services I had to learn how to tie my shoe all over.
Yo, King, what's making it happen?
I had to go up to people and say, man, can you help my roommates? Can you help bathe me, man? My life totally changed, and they gave me an opportunity to stop. And most people, when you give them an opportunity to stop while they're chasing something, they take advantage of it because they feel as if, man, why did this have to happen to me? I felt as if, why not? This is the perfect opportunity to use this to be a blessing to somebody else. And you know what? It's not even about me, to be truthful. It's not even about me now. It's about repaying the people that invested in me and saw something in me when I couldn't see it in myself. Now this is the perfect time to give them a return on their investment. That's why I went on to get my master's degree. At a certain point in life, it can't just be about you. When do we get to the point where we start honoring the sacrifices that others have made for us? When do we get to the point where we say, Mom, I really appreciate those sacrifices you made for me, so I'm not quitting as a result of it. I love you, Mom. I guarantee you I'm coming out of Michigan State with a degree. I guarantee it. And it doesn't matter the outcome. It doesn't matter what I go through. I guarantee you. I went to my mother and I told her, I will never embarrass you. I will never quit because you sat in the park with me when I was 7 years old. So it's not even about me having a paralyzed right arm. It's not even that deep. The reason I wake up and live my life the way that I do, because I understand somebody is looking at me for my passion. Somebody is looking at me for my zeal. Somebody is looking at me for my energy, and somebody is looking at me every day to keep going, just like somebody is depending on each of you. It's not about you, man. Blessings don't come to you, blessings flow through you. And the moment that you understand that, you will realize your existence is not just about you. It's a lot of people that paved the way for you to be in a position that you're in.
Honor that.
Have a certain level of pride in what you do. Take pride in what you do. If your last name is on something, you should operate a certain way. You shouldn't just do it just to do it. I don't understand how people do that. How can people get up and just go through the flow in life? How do people do that? Like, I can't do that. When I look at my son, I can't say, son, I just got up and I flowed through life today. And he looked back at me like, Dad, you just— no, I can't do that. I can't tell my wife, baby, I just— When I look at my wife, I tell her, no matter what happens in our life, No matter what we go through, you gonna be straight, you gonna be straight, you gonna be straight. You'll never have to worry about a thing. My kids will never see the life that I saw. I'm promising that. They're not seeing it right now, they will never see it because of who I am. Now understand who I am.
Now know I'm a go-getter.
When it boils down to it, I'm a go-getter and I'm a flat-out going get it, and nothing will not stop me from getting it. A lot of people, they have to be chasing something, or it has to be a reward attached to it, or they seek some type of validation. Or they need some type of encouragement, a pat on the back to say, man, you're doing a good job. When you tell me I'm doing a good job or not, I'm gonna give everything I got to everything I'm involved in because that's just the way I'm cut. I'm gonna give everything I got to everything I'm involved in because that's the way I'm cut. You don't have to give me a reward for it. That's what I'm supposed to do. That's how I'm supposed to rock, and that's how I'm supposed to live my life. I don't need no reward. I don't need no cookie like I'm checking in the Hampton and you giving me a cookie because I'm checking in. No, I'm gonna live my life a certain type of way because this is the standard of excellence that I should possess. Standard of excellence in everything that I do. It's not about the outcome, it's not about the circumstance, it's not about the situation, it's not about people. It's about me taking pride in what I do and having a certain standard of excellence. I could have worked at McDonald's, I guarantee you I would have been the best worker at McDonald's there was. I could have washed cars, I guarantee you I'd have been the best car washer there was. That had nothing to do with the outcome. That's just how I'm cut.
That's how I'm cut.
I'm gonna go get it because I'm built for it.
I don't need no cookie.
Not needing a reward for what you do.
Cali Queen, if you know, you know.
For what you do. If you set out and you say you're gonna do something, do yourself a favor and don't lie to yourself, because that is the worst thing that an individual can ever do. You think you lying to your peers, right? You think you lying to your mother. You think you lying to your teacher. You think you lying to your coach. At the end of the day, when you look in the mirror, you lying to you because that's your life. In 10 years from now, nobody can do anything for you. That's gonna be the life that you created, not anybody else. The life that you created, you make your bed, you gotta lay in it. And the moment that we understand that, and every day we wake up, we understand that life is a blessing and life is a gift. And if you were to check out today, how would you want to be remembered? It's bigger than you. We have to elevate To that point, we keep that standard, we keep that expectation in everything that we do, and understand that it's a lot bigger than us. Us doing everything that we do is a lot bigger than us, and we want to leave a legacy in everything that we do. People just want to be good. People just want to look cute doing things. I want to look cute. I don't care about being cool. Think I care about being cool? Man, there's people dying out here. This young Black male is getting their life taken. It's people depending on us out here in the world.
It's people depending on you.
I would rather somebody look at me and say, man, that cat came from the hood in Atlanta. His mother had him at 15. He came from a 2-bedroom home, 14 people. He slept on the floor with roaches and rats. He missed meals at night. His arm got paralyzed while he was in college chasing a dream. He was 8 games away from the NFL. He almost lost his life. He was back in class the next week. He went on to get this bachelor's degree. He went on to get his master's degree. That's cool. That's who I want to be like. Because he never gave up. And I don't plan on giving up anytime soon. As a matter of fact, I'll go on record right now, on tape, to tell you I'll never give up regardless of what may happen. Because I'm chasing something different, and it's not about the product, it's about the process. It's about me understanding, me going at things a certain type of way, what it's going to build and instill within me that's going to sustain me for the Rest of my life.
Why would I stop?
