Apply Knowledge Correctly - The Ash Cash Show 8.30.22

The episode of The Ash Cash Show hosted by Ash Exantus blends motivational finance advice with spiritual teachings. Ash opens by declaring his mission to help listeners live in abundance, emphasizing that abundance is a birthright that must be actively lived, not merely understood. He discusses the importance of God‑consciousness, interpreting biblical concepts such as "as it is in heaven, so it may be on earth" as a call to align one’s mindset with divine abundance. Reverend Ike and other guests expand on the idea that the "I Am" statement creates reality, urging listeners to personalize God’s power and adopt a master consciousness. The show then shifts to practical performance principles: the necessity of disciplined, consistent self‑discipline versus procrastination, the role of energetic alignment (likening it to wheel alignment), and the need to apply knowledge correctly rather than merely acquire it. Ash shares personal anecdotes and stories from guest Lisa Nichols about overcoming poverty, the willingness to die to old identities, and the importance of taking bold, unconventional actions. Jim Rohn’s classic discourse on discipline, habit formation, and the price of regret reinforces the message. Throughout, Ash stresses that true wealth stems from mindset, spirit, and disciplined action, not just external money, and concludes with a call to shine in one’s purpose, promoting his merchandise and a raffle for an "Abundance Is Your Birthright" shirt.

Um, today, today I want to talk about Right, so, so, so for those who, who don't know, Ash Cash Show is your daily dose of financial motivation, right? So financial motivation, financial empowerment. Uh, my, my sole goal on this planet, uh, is to help people live in abundance. Live in abundance. Not, not just know that abundance is their birthright.
I—
my desire is that everybody who crosses my path, whether it's personally, whether it's through watching a video, listening to something, anybody who crosses my path, my desire is that they live in abundance. There's a difference between living in abundance and just understanding that abundance is your birthright. Knowing that abundance is your birthright is the start, but I actually want you to live in abundance. I actually want you to... or my desire is that you, uh, are living the life that you desire, right? Like, like, you know, growing up, I was always told that, you know, do good, do right, and then, and then you'll, you'll, you'll get to heaven, right? You'll get to heaven after you die, like after you die. And You know, as I, as I got older and older, um, and, and, and started to, to, um, apply wisdom and, and hear different things, um, heaven is not a— you know, heaven is not a place. Appreciate you, Bad Love. Uh, you know, you know, I can't say definitively, but, but, but, but you can experience heaven here. Right? Like you can experience heaven on earth. Um, and you know, when when when you hear, you know, like like like the the scripture says, um, you know, on earth as it is in heaven.
And so, I don't know.
Like I'm I'm you know I wasn't the smartest. Like I wasn't an English major by no stretch of the imagination. You know what I'm saying? I wasn't an English major, so I can't really tell you what that means. I could tell you what I think it means. If I, if I hear somebody say, if I hear, if I hear somebody say, um, on earth as it is in heaven, like, it means, it almost means it's equivalent, right? Like, like, it almost to me You know, if somebody says, you know, you are made in the image and likeness, right? If somebody says you are made in the image and likeness, that means like it's it's similar, right? Um, so for me, I you know I started to test that out a little bit, right? I didn't see what that's the thing. Like like like. Like I didn't take it at face value. I wanted to test it. I wanted to test it. I'm like, man, on earth as it is in heaven. Like what does that mean? Like what does it mean on earth as it as it is in heaven? And so, um, so. So if you know, if you know the whole, if you know the whole prayer, right, the whole prayer says, Our Father, Our Father, right, Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, right, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. So I'm saying, I'm saying, number one, All of the scriptures say that, um, we're made in the image and likeness of God, right? All of them say it. I'm not making it up. If I'm saying something wrong, somebody, somebody call me out. But all of the scriptures said, right, that we're made in the image and likeness of the Most High God. So So we're made in the image and likeness of God. That means the abilities, right? The abilities that God has is similar, right? Okay, bet. So I check that. And so now it's talking about our Father, right? Who's in heaven, right? Our Father who's in heaven. And then it starts talking about, um, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. So I don't want to prolong it, but to me it just means that if that— if that— if, if, if God is in heaven and I'm made in the image and likeness of God and I'm here on earth, then to me my understanding is that I can have heaven on earth. That's my understanding of it. And so I tested it out, and I realized that hell is in your brain, right? I realized that somebody could be going through the same exact situation, right? Somebody could be going through the same exact situation. Someone, one person could make heaven out of it and the other person could make hell out of it. Like, that's what that was. That was my conclusion. My conclusion was, how is it, right, how is it that I could take 2 people with the same exact situation and one person is gonna have a positive outcome and the other person is going to have a negative outcome? How is it? And I realize that that's because, um, heaven is— heaven is, is in your brain. Hell is in your brain. Like, you create it. It's your perspective. Corey, thank you for the badge love. It is your perspective, right? It is your perspective. It's how you view things. If somebody is viewing it with, you know, a thought process or a mindset that, you know, things are working against them, then guess what? Things are going to work against them, right? Um, if somebody, if somebody is, is, is working, you know, with the perspective, right, if, if If somebody's working with the perspective that it doesn't matter, everything that has happened is happening for my, my greater good, then that, then that's exactly what's going to happen. Everything, everything is going to work for your greater good, right? And so I need you to apply knowledge correctly. Think about this. A lot of times people who interpret things, in what mindset are you inter— are you interpreting it? Through a, um, space of, of lack, or are you interpreting it from a space of abundance? I believe— and this is just, this is just my, my, my belief system— I believe that those who were in the mindset of you gotta wait to enjoy the blessings that God has for you on Earth are people who were impatient. I said what I said. I think there were, there were people that were, were impatient, didn't fully understand how, uh, to access the abundance that's their birthright. And because they were impatient, they, they needed to justify why they weren't living, living their life. And so while they were trying to justify, they started to separate themselves. from God. They started separ— they started separating themselves from God, right?
And at—
and in that separation, right? And, and when I say separate themselves from God, I'm not saying we're equal to God. I would never say that. We're not equal to God, but we're made in the— like, like we are made in the image and likeness of God. And so if, if we're made in the image and likeness to God, there is a similarity there, right? Not equal. Similarity doesn't mean equal, right? You know, if, if, if 2 twins are born, right, of the same mother, you know, they came out at the same time, they're twins, but they're not the— you know what I mean? They're similar, but they're not the same, right? They're not the— they're not Even if you're identical twin, you're still different, right? You're not equal to that person. It's similarities, you know what I'm saying? And so a lot of people, right, a lot of people, a lot of people have separated themselves from God, right? Which, you know, as Wayne Dyer says, is ego. You're edging God out. And so as you edge, as you, as you edge God out Right? As you edge God out, um, you, you start, you start to move different, right? You start to move different because when you, when you, when you're operating without, without God, when you're operating separate from God, then you, you'll, you'll make up stuff. And so I think people who are impatient will, will make up excuses as to why they can't access the abundance that they're birthed right now. And so number one, in order in order to apply knowledge correctly, I need you to number one. I need you to become God conscious. I need you to know God, right? If if if you want if you want to get to you to the path of prosperity, you have to know God. I I didn't say no religion, right? It's up to you. You you get to decide if you want to know religion or not. Right, but you need to know God. There's only one God, right? There's only one God. And number one, you have to become God conscious.
You see, God must become personal.
God must become personal.
Jesus must become personal to me.
Personal to you.
Now watch me blow your mind. I'm going to bring it even more closely. God must become personalized in me.
In you.
Through me.
Through you. And as me.
And as you.
And you see, this is what makes and made Jesus Christ what Jesus Christ is as a person. The fact that Jesus was so God-conscious that God became personal And personalized in Jesus, through Jesus, and as Jesus. Oh yes, Jesus became and was so conscious of God that when Jesus spoke, God spoke. But if you leave that on the shores of Galilee, you've missed the point.
Yeah.
If you put that 2,000 years ago and leave it there, you've missed the point. Because what did Jesus tell his disciples are the disciplines of his mind? What did he teach the faculties of his mind? The works that I do, the works that I do, you'll do. No, the works that I do shall be, shall you do also.
And in order to do the same works, yo, the works that I do shall be, not will be. Shall be done to you also.
If the master did, you must have the master mind. You must have the master consciousness.
Master mind, master consciousness.
You must have the master power. And you see, this is the whole idea of Jesus and the 12 disciples. You must give to every one of the aspects of your mind the master power. Let me hear every one of you say, I have the master power of God in me. See, this is what made Jesus a master. He had the master power. These titles are not just titles that you can pin on you. You must get these titles in consciousness. That's why I'm glad for those of you who are talking about certificates. I like for you to have your certificates and your credits, but realize that all of your real credit is in consciousness and what you do with it. Some people are more desirous of the title Reverend Than they are of the consciousness, which alone can make you reverent, a practitioner. Ladies and gentlemen, only the consciousness of a thing can make you that thing. No man can say that Jesus is the Christ except by the Holy Ghost, except by the Holy Spirit. You must have the spirit of whatever you want to be. So then Jesus—
Wait, hold on, let me, hold on, let me, let me, let me, let me stop that though, right? A lot of us are not living in abundance and we're not applying knowledge the right way, right? We're not applying the knowledge the right way. Look, you must have the spirit, right? You must have the spirit of what you wouldn't want to be. Right, Mac Dime, salute my G, appreciate the badge love. You must have the spirit. Think about this, you must have the spirit of what you desire to be. And so to me, when we talk about, you know, having energetic alignment, right, and energetic alignment means that your energy, right, your energy The energy that you're giving out, right, is in alignment. It matches. Alignment means matching, right? Alignment means matching. So like when you, when you drive your car and they say your wheel— like if your car is driving crazy and they say your wheel needs an alignment, that means they're not matching. They're not on the— they're not on the same level. Right? And so if they're not matching, then that's how you get the wobbliness. So you got to get a— you got to get a, uh, a wheel alignment, right? When they say you got to get a wheel alignment, what that means is that your wheel, right, both wheels have to be aligned correctly so that they're balanced, so they move at the same they move together, right? Alignment means matches, right? Matching. And so when you get a wheel alignment— for those who know about cars, you drive a car, it's wobbly, they like, oh, what's that? Oh, your wheels aren't aligned, right? So you got to go get a wheel alignment. And so when I say energetic, energetic alignment, I'm saying your energy, your energy must be aligned. And matter of fact, it don't— it's not even about must be, it's just a fact that you will always get, right? You will always get what you are energetically aligned with. If you're trying to take advantage of people, then you will be aligned with people who, who take advantage of people. If you're trying to bless people, you'll be aligned with people who are a blessing, right? There has to be a— there has to be an alignment of energy. That's why I never, right, I'm, I'm never pointing a finger at what other people are doing. Because if I— look, it's going to be a hard pill, a hard pill to swallow. But if you could see and be affected by what other people are doing, it's in you as well. Forget what they doing, right? You, you need, you need to, you need to fly higher, right? Ray Lewis once said that an eagle could never fly at the same altitude as a pigeon. Right? An eagle cannot fly at the same altitude as a pigeon because a pigeon flies lower, right? And so at any time, at any time, if the eagle sees the pigeon, the eagle's flying too low. If the eagle could see the pigeon, then the, then the, then the eagle is flying too low. Because the, the, but the pigeon doesn't have the ability to fly as high as the eagle though. It doesn't have the ability, right? And so somebody who's, who's vibrating at a low vibration, right? If somebody is, is, is, is vibrating at a low vibration, they, they're not— there's no way they could be at this higher vibration. So if you're, if you're, if you've been vibrating at a higher vibration and you happen to be able to see that low vibrational person, it don't have nothing to do with them. You just flying too low. You're not in energetic alignment, however brief. You got out of energetic alignment with that in which you are desiring, or that, that who you are, right? And so what Reverend Ike just said is that you must become the spirit, right? You must become the spirit. You must have the spirit of that in which you want to be, right? And so, and so somebody who lives in abundance, who is God-conscious Has the spirit of infinite possibilities. They don't have the spirit of lack. They don't have the spirit of fear. They don't have the spirit of wanting, right? Because they know that anything that they desire is— they can create. And so a lot of us don't have the right spirit. We have a spirit of fear. We have a spirit of hoping. We have a spirit of victimhood. We have a spirit of, uh, you know, uh, hoping. I said hoping already, but, but, but I want to expound on the spirit of hoping. We have the spirit of, um, and I don't want to use the word begging, but we're, we're, we're, we're, we're leaving the power in someone else's hand, right? We need— we like, like, like we're leaving the power. So we have this spirit of Yo, I can't, I can't do it. We have the spirit of, yo, I can't do it, I, I gotta, you know what I'm saying, like, like I need help, you know. And so we have to have the spirit, right? We have to have the spirit. We have to be God-conscious.
Jesus is the God-conscious mind in man, that within you that knows Who and what you are in God, and who and what God is in you. That's Jesus. And this must become your personal Savior.
Your personal—
It must become personal to you. You must personalize it just like Jesus did.
I got news for you.
The only difference between Jesus and any other person is purely Consciousness. Jesus is God's Son, and Jesus knows that. And the only difference between the average person and Jesus is that a man is God's Son, but man doesn't know it. This is why, again, Jesus said, you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. When you know the truth that you are the Son of God, that sets you free from the belief That you are a son of a gun, and it sets you free from all that sons of guns are heir to. Truth of you is that you are the Son of God. You're a child of God. And you see, when you're born again, you are born into this mind, you're born into this consciousness, you're born out of humanity into divinity. So this is Jesus. I told you before, and it's worth repeating, When I say Jesus, I mean something so far beyond what the average person is thinking about. When I say money, I'm talking about something infinitely beyond what the average person is even thinking about. People think I'm just talking about dollars and dollars alone, but I'm talking about the one thing that is everything, which we call consciousness here. Because again, a part of our definition of Jesus says That Jesus is the one, everyone who knows I Am, because in the scripture, I Am says, I am God.
Uh-oh.
And beside me, there's none else.
Whoa. I am God. Besides me, there's no— there's none else.
I'm going to give you this again and again and again and again and again and again until you produce it and demonstrate. I Am is awareness of being. Now just stop and think about that and feel that for a moment. You are announcing your awareness of being. You're saying that you am. Bad grammar but good meaning. I am aware. This statement unmasks God. This statement is the unmasking of God. In the scriptures, God is hidden behind many masks, as it were, and to those who do not Have spiritual discernment. You see, God is hidden behind the personality of Jesus Christ, whereas the truth is Jesus Christ is to be the revelation of God. Every man is to be the revelation of God. You are here to be the revelation of God. I am here to reveal God together.
I am here to reveal God. When you God-conscious, you have the revelation of God.
These are training sessions as well. It's going to heal you, it's going to enrich you, it's going to solve your problems. So stick around. I am here to reveal God's perfect good. Don't you forget that. I am says I am God. The awareness of being is God.
Why?
Because I am creates everything. Everything that I Everything that I say that I am, everything that I think that I am, everything that I believe that I am, everything that I feel that I am, I become. But until I add something to I am, I am just a great big infinite am. So if I want to be something, I must work with I am. I must add something to I am. This time I'm going to add healthy.
Drop the like and appreciate the back love.
Let me hear everybody say, I am healthy.
I am healthy.
Now you see, I Am is God, and when you become aware of being something with your awareness of being, God, or I Am, creates it and brings it to pass. This is why again the scripture tells us Let the weak say, let the weak say I am strong.
Oh, let me, let me, let me, let me touch base on that a little bit though too, right? Um, because you know, I don't know where this word came from, this imposter syndrome. Like, I, like, I don't know where, like, like, y'all swear if you ain't a doctor, yo, like, man, I don't know. I don't know if it's, it's social media But if you're not a doctor, if you if you haven't um if you're not a psychiatrist, if you haven't went to some and even if you have honestly I don't even care. Y'all be making up words and be running running with them because I don't know where I heard like I don't know where when people started saying oh oh I feel like I got imposter syndrome imposter syndrome. That don't even make no sense, right? Because I— because, because there's only one truth. There can't be multiple truths, right? There can't be multiple truths. The truth shall set you free. And I'm just holding on to the one truth. I don't, I don't care about the other truths. I'm just holding on to the one truth that says we are made in the image and likeness of God. I don't need nothing else. That for me, that's the ultimate. That's the ultimate truth to me. If if the ultimate truth says that I that I'm made in the image and likeness of God, then how can how can I how can I be an imposter? Right? How can I how can I be an imposter? Right?
Why?
Because whatever you become aware.
How can I be an imposter? And so a lot of times, uh, people are afraid to affirm, right? People are afraid to affirm their desires because of what they see, right? Like, if the scripture says let— it doesn't say let the weak say I can't wait till I get stronger. It doesn't say let the weak say, oh, I'm working on my strength. It don't say that. It say let the weak say I am strong, because that's the truth. The truth is I am strong. And so you afraid to declare the I Am because you afraid of imposter syndrome. You afraid of what other people going to say when the truth says that you're made in the image and likeness of God. So if God has infinite possibilities, then infinite possibility is yours. And so I don't understand. I don't understand keeping it real. What is real? Real is a perception, right?
Of being something with your awareness of being God, or I am creates it and brings it to pass. This is why again the scripture tells us, let the weak say, I am strong. Oh, why?
Because whatever you add to I Am, you become.
I Am creates it. It's so simple that it's profound. But this statement, again, what does it do? It is the unmasking of God. I don't want you to forget that this statement is the unmasking of God. I can add so many things to I Am. We can add rich to I Am. But remember, we most of all must be sure that we are adding to I am subjectively. We must feel it. We must believe it. Subjective reality always becomes objective reality. Subjective reality always becomes objective realities. Subjective reality always creates and becomes objective reality. Whatever I say I am in my feeling, in my feeling, in my gut, in my gut, in my heart, in my heart, in my mind—whatever I say I am, I amness creates that. Yep. I amness becomes that. Why? Because I am God. I am God. I am greatness on display. Power and That mind in you which knows—
I am a wealth creator.
Is Jesus. I don't care how dumb you think you are, there is a mind in you that knows. I don't care how poor you think you are, there is a reality in you that is infinitely rich. I don't care how weak you think you are, there's a reality in you that is infinitely powerful. There is that in you which is aware Of God, infinite good, perfect good. Whatever you add to this I Am-ness of your being, you will express. And the mind in you that knows this is Jesus. And we hear the Master Jesus repeating this over and over again: I am the resurrection, I am the life, I am the bread of life. And the ascended Jesus says, I am the root And the offspring. I am the way, says the mastermind. Meaning what? Awareness of being is the way to be whatever you want to be. If you want to be rich, what is the way to be rich? Be aware of being rich. What is the way to good health? Be aware of being healthy. Yes, even while you're sick. Even while you're sick, the way to become well is to be aware. Even while you're poor, the way to be rich is to become aware of being rich. Why? Because I am God.
All right, so you have, you have to have the right awareness, right? You have to have the right awareness first and foremost. But then now, right now, after you have the right awareness, uh, it's really applying the knowledge of that awareness in, in the right way, right? Um, right. It's about, uh, some, some knocking is saying fake it until you make it, pretending until you making it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, however way you say it, fake it till you make it. Faith it till you make it. However, just be right. Just be. Just be. Um, you know, I'm not like when I I don't like the I don't like the phrase fake it till you make it either. Um, and the reason why I don't like the the the the saying, and it's all semantics. It does. You know, it is what it is. Whatever whatever works works. It's the same thought process, but faking it to me sounds like being something that you're not, right? To me, faking it means like if I'm a fake being something, that means I'm being something that I'm not, right? Like, like, you know, I'm a, I'm a, I don't know, I'm a, I'm a chocolate brother. I can't fake being light-skinned. I just not— I just can't do that, you know what I mean? Like, I'm a dark-skinned brother. Like, I can't fake— I can't— I can't start acting light-skinned. Maybe a bad example, but you know what I'm saying? So I don't like faking it because faking is just like— it's just like, you know, um, you know, it kind of, you know, kind of feel like you do, you know, you're— you're being something that you're not. But faith it though, right? Faith it. When I'm using my faith to make it means that who I'm— if I'm living in lack right now, who I am living— who I am right now is not real. And so, and so, look, not even with your squint. Um, and so in order for me to Uh, make it, I need to have faith that I am who God told me I am. So I gotta faith it. I gotta, I gotta get rid of the lie that I'm living. A lot of us are living a lie. If you living in lack, then you living a lie. That's a bar. If you living in lack, then you living in— you living a lie. If you living in lack, you living a lie. If you living in lack, you living a lie. If you're living in lack, you're living a lie. If you're living in lack, you're living a lie. Abundance is your birthright, so let it apply. I'm saying I'm trying to make make it rhyme. If you're living in lack, you're living a lie. Abundance is your birthright. So something right, and so the truth is we got to have faith, right? We have to have faith that abundance is actually our birthright, right? Abundance is your birthright. All right, so now it's about applying knowledge.
Subjects we've covered so far and are about to cover, none is more important than covering the disciplines for success.
You got to be disciplined.
Of achieving the good life.
We're going back to this.
The major key—
In order to have the good life, you have to be disciplined.
Is not in learning how to set goals. It is not in learning how to better manage your time. It is not in mastering the attributes of leadership. Every day, in a thousand different ways, we are trying to improve ourselves, by learning how to do things. We spend a lifetime gathering knowledge in classrooms, in textbooks, and experiences. Now, if knowledge is power, if knowledge is the forerunner to success, then why do we fall short of our objectives? Why, in spite of all our knowledge and in spite of our collective experiences, do we find ourselves aimlessly wandering, settling for a life of existence rather than a life of—
Why are we settling? Why are we settling?
There may be many answers to this question. Your answers may be different than your associates or your spouses or your friends. While there may be many answers to this question, the fundamental answer is the absence of discipline.
Discipline, y'all.
Behind all that we know, that's the key word— discipline. Self-discipline. We might add one more word here: consistent. Consistent self-discipline. It doesn't really matter how smart you are or how much you know. If you don't use it, it doesn't really matter that you graduated magna cum laude. If you're stuck in a low-paying job, it doesn't really matter if you attended every seminar that comes to town. If you don't apply what you've learned, better than knowledge is applied knowledge. And once we've applied our knowledge, we must study the results of that process. Apply our knowledge, study the results, refine our approach. A lot of knowledge, study the results, trying and observing and refining. and trying again, our knowledge will inevitably produce worthy results, admirable results. And with the joy and results of our efforts, we continue to apply, to learn, to observe, to fuel our ambition with the positive reinforcement of continued progress. Pretty soon, we'll find that we're swept into a spiral of achievement, a vertical rise to success. And the ecstasy of that total experience makes for a life of triumph over tragedy, dullness, and mediocrity. But for this whole process to work for us, we must first master the art of discipline. Self-discipline. Consistent self-discipline. It takes consistent self-discipline to master the art of setting goals, to master the art of time management, to master the art of leadership, to master the art of parenting and relationships. If we don't make consistent self-discipline part part of our daily lives, the results we seek will be sporadic and elusive. It takes a consistent effort to truly manage our valuable time, or we'll be consistently frustrated. Our time will be eaten up by others whose demands are stronger than our own. It takes discipline to conquer the nagging voices in our minds— the fear of failure, the fear of success, the fear of poverty, The fear of a broken heart. It takes discipline to keep trying when that nagging voice within us brings up the possibility of failure. It takes discipline to admit our errors and recognize our limitations. The voice of the human ego speaks to all of us. Sometimes the voice of ego says that we should magnify our value beyond our results. It leads us to exaggerate, to not be totally honest. It takes discipline to be totally honest, both with ourselves and with others. Be certain of one thing: every exaggeration of the truth, once detected by others, destroys our credibility and makes all that we say and do suspect. As soon as a business colleague figures out that we tend to exaggerate, guess what? They'll always think we exaggerate, and they'll never quite hold us in the same regard again. The tendency to exaggerate, distort, or even withhold the truth is an inherent part of all of us, and only an all-out disciplined assault can overcome it.
Sorry, I'll take you to the bathroom.
It takes discipline to change a habit because habits are formed a little bit each day, every day, every day. Once habits are formed, they act like a giant cable. They act like a nearly unbreakable instinct. That only long-term disciplined activity can change. We must unweave every strand of the cable of habits slowly and methodically until the cable that once held us in bondage becomes nothing more than scattered strands of wire. It takes the consistent application of a new discipline, a more desirable one, to overcome one which is less desirable. It takes discipline to plan. It takes discipline to execute our plan. It takes discipline to look with full objectivity at the results of our applied plan. And it takes discipline to change either our plan or our method of executing that plan if the results are poor. It takes discipline to be firm when the world throws opinions at our feet. It takes discipline to ponder the value of someone else's opinion when our pride and our arrogance leads us to believe that we are the only ones with the answers. Discipline is a constant human awareness of the need for action and a conscious act by us to implement that action. Discipline is an awareness of the constant need for action and a conscious—
That's Jim Rohn.
—to implement that action. If our awareness and our implementations occur at the same time, then we begin a valued sequence of disciplined activity. Now here's the other side of discipline. If there's considerable time that passes between the moment of awareness and the time of our implementation, then that is called procrastination.
I really appreciate you, my G.
Doing it tomorrow instead of today. Procrastination, an almost exact opposite of discipline. The voice within us says, get it done. Discipline then says, do it now. Do it to the best of your ability today, tomorrow, and always, until finally the worthy deed becomes instinct. Procrastination says, later, tomorrow, whenever I get a chance. Procrastination also says, do what is necessary to get by or to impress others. Do what you can, but not what you must. In every circumstance we face, we are constantly presented with these 2 choices. Do it now.
Do it now. Or do it later.
Or do it later. Discipline and procrastination.
Yeah.
A choice between a disciplined existence bearing the fruit of achievement and contentment, or procrastination, the easy life for which the future will bear no fruit, only the bare branches of mediocrity. The rewards of a disciplined life are great, but they're often delayed until sometime in the future. The rewards for the lack of discipline are immediate, but they are minor in comparison to the immeasurable rewards of consistent self-discipline. An immediate reward for lack of discipline is a fun day at the beach. A future reward of discipline is owning the beach.
Owning the beach.
For most, we choose today's pleasure rather than tomorrow's fortune. So how can you get rid of the easy distractions? How can you keep your mind on what you're trying to do? How can you keep an attitude of doing it all and doing it now? How can you make the choice of discipline over procrastination? How can you stay focused on your ambitions? How can you avoid conversations at the water cooler? You can keep your focus on your work. You can get it done today instead of tomorrow. You've got to really work on your consistent self-discipline on a daily basis. Or you'll find yourself distracted. Distracted by negative thoughts, distracted by negative people, distracted by water cooler chatter, and pretty soon, depending on the type of people you've associated with, distracted by your doubts within yourself. Never underestimate the power of influence and association, and never underestimate the power of your own consistent Self-discipline. Now let's take a closer look at discipline. True discipline is not the easiest option. Most people would rather sleep until 10 o'clock than get up at 6. It's easier to go to bed late, sleep late, show up late, leave early. It's easier not to read. It's easier to turn on the television than to open a book. It's easier to do just enough than to do it all. Waiting is always easier than acting. Trying is always easier than doing. Imagine what life would be like if we didn't have to make our bed in the morning or keep our garage clean or pay our taxes or show up for work tomorrow. Wouldn't it be fascinating if we didn't have to do these things? Wouldn't it be fascinating? What do you suppose would become of us? You're right, not much. For whatever the reason, the system we live in and contribute to is designed to make the easiest things in life the most unprofitable. Profitable seems to be the most difficult. Our world is and always will be a constant battle between the life of ease and its momentary rewards and a life of discipline and its far more significant rewards. Each has its own price. The price of discipline or the price of regret. We will pay one or the other. What we wish we had done is the voice of regret, speaking in a sorrowful tone at a time when there is no going back. This is regret. No second chance. No.
What up, Alex? Thank you for the back up.
Choose one or the other, but both will have their price. The price of discipline or the price of regret. One costs pennies, the other a fortune. The other a fortune. Dostoevsky said, "There are hundreds of young men who would die for the truth, but very few very few five years studying to know what the truth is." You are now listening to mindrightradio.com, the only place to get inspiration and motivation all day.
Every day.
And so here's the deal, y'all. Here's the deal. Um, you gotta apply knowledge the right way, right? You gotta apply knowledge the right way. And once you learn something from a credible source, right, once you learn something from a credible source, um, you have to apply it. And let me tell you something that, that I realized That's gonna be the truth. If what your mentor, the person you're listening to, if what they're saying makes sense to you, then they may not be able to help you. Why do I say that? Or— and the reason I say that is because the knowledge that, that you have already and that you've been applying hasn't been working for you if you're seeking something different, right? And so when I, when I first, you know, uh, left the corporate world and was working a 9 to 5, I couldn't use the same knowledge that I used to build a successful corporate career, right, working a 9 to 5. I couldn't do it. It was impossible to do because it's, you know, the knowledge works one place but may not work in the other. And in fact, some of the people that I respected, right, some of the people that I respected, that I, that I looked up to in the corporate world, they couldn't do nothing for me in the entrepreneurship world because they were, they were very skilled at moving up the ranks within a corporation. But the knowledge that I need as an entrepreneur is way different. And so I then had to start following people and listening to people who were successful as an entrepreneur. And then when it came to income level, right, when I made my first 5 figures as an entrepreneur, it took a different set of skills To now get to six figures, and then when I make it made it to six figures, it was another set of skills to make it to multiple six figures, and and so on and so forth. My point is that each step of the way, right? Each step of the way, number one, I had to keep I had to keep learning. That's for sure, right? Every step of the way, I had to keep learning. But then even as I was learning, I kept having to apply new knowledge. I wasn't just learning, right? I wasn't just learning and, you know, just kind of staying where I was. Um, I was learning and then applying that knowledge. Some, some things my mentors tell me do not make sense whatsoever. Some of the things my mentors tell me do not make sense. I'd be like, yo, this don't make no sense whatsoever at all. But still in all, right, still in all, I say, you know what, they've done it, so I'm gonna listen to them. They got the result that I want. So I'm gonna listen. I'm not, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna not listen. And every time I listen to a mentor or a coach that I paid for, I got the results because they told me exactly what to do, right? I have, I have, I have students, and so it's, it baffles me, but I don't fight it no more. I used to fight it. Um, I have students that would pay me money, right? I'll have students that would pay me money to help them get a result that they've never gotten before in their life, and then tell me how they're going to apply the knowledge that I'm giving them, and then they fail at it, and they try to find excuses as to why they failed. Like I'm telling you how to do it. You paid me. I'm telling you how to do it, but you're not doing it because you know better. If you knew better, you wouldn't pay me. If you knew better, you would, you would, you would, you would have done it already. But still and all, right? And it baffles me. But to the credit of the students that get results. The students that get stuff done, they actually don't ask questions. They just apply. They'll ask questions for clarification, right? But they— but if I say, yo, oh, do this, they do it and they're successful, which is the difference, right? The difference between, you know, I might have a student that— I, I have a student that made 6 figures in 10 months from writing books. I had a student who made 7 figures, right, from my coaching. And I have students who are still struggling. Why is that? It ain't the teacher. It ain't the teacher. It's your— it's the ability to be a student. Anytime somebody who has done something before tells me this is how you do it, I do it that way. I do it that way. Because any, any other thing doesn't make sense. Doing it any other way doesn't make sense. And so my only goal for you is to shine in your purpose, right?
You are now tuned in. You need to shine.
God gave you a purpose. You need to shine.
I'm on government assistance and I run out of money and I had to buy Pampers for Jelani and I had $11.42 in the bank. And I remember wrapping my son in a towel for 2 days. I remember the second day, like you said, I had myself— my hand on Jelani's stomach and I said, don't worry, baby, Mommy will never be this broke or broken again. And that day, what shifted for me was I was willing— and I don't know if this is gonna sound crazy— I was willing to completely die.
Oh, are you willing to completely die to any form of you so that you've been birthed? So you can birth the person that you're becoming.
The reason why a lot of people won't become who they want is because they're too attached to who they—
too attached to who you've been.
And you hear it all the time when people say, I've always been this way. Okay, well, if that's working for you, keep doing that. I knew it wasn't working for me anymore. I hit my version of rock bottom, so I was willing to let go of Everything and everybody. See, another reason why people won't get there is because the doorway is for you to fit through. You trying to carry everybody else through because you trying to be Rescue 911, and you gotta rescue you first. I am much more valuable to my family and to my community because I was willing to let them go, go through the do myself, teach myself, learn myself, condition myself, and then come back and get them. I'm much more valuable to them now, but I had to go through a window time of 10 years of judgment. You leaving us, hanging out with white people all the time, you going to these crazy countries, we don't know what you're— I have to be willing to, to allow my conviction to make me inconvenienced. See, we want to grow, but we want to stay liked by everybody. I was willing to be my own rescue at the risk of your approval. But most of us aren't like that. Facebook is an example. We want to be liked. Well, I woke up and I liked myself today, so your like is extra. My, my job is to like me first. I was willing to say every day, Lisa, you like you? Lisa, are you proud of you? Lisa, are you playing full out? Every day before I checked in with anybody else. I was willing to inconvenience my entire life, my entire life. I was willing to disrupt my entire life to buy my future, to buy my possibility, to give my dream a chance. See, we're not supposed to tuck our dreams in on the pillow when we get up in the morning.
Right.
We're not supposed to leave them at home and go and fulfill somebody else's dream. We're not supposed to do that. That's not what we're wired to do. That's not who we are. Your human spirit doesn't care about the economy. The human spirit doesn't care that my son's father went to prison. Like, the human spirit doesn't care what's happened to your family. The human spirit doesn't care about the past. You may have been molested, or your family may have been broke, or, or you may have been betrayed, or you may have a divorce. Your human spirit doesn't care about any of that. Your human spirit simply says, what's our command?
What's our command for tomorrow?
What do you want to create? It's not keeping score. Your brain is keeping score because your brain is designed Your soul, your intuition, your human spirit is designed to make you soar. When you get to the edge, your brain will always tell you to step back. It's always going to tell you to step back because you can fall. Always. It's going to tell you step back because before you fail, the last time you did this, you saw someone else fail. You could hurt. You could be off work. It's going to tell you. It's designed to keep you safe. So you have to be willing to play between your brain and your soul. And on some days, you gotta just listen to your soul, and you gotta say, I'm gonna leap, I'm gonna get to the edge. Most people are at the edge, and you're standing at the edge and you're watching everyone else fly. That's Pimp My Ride, Watch My Cribs, all this stuff, you know, watching people's lives on Facebook. You're at the edge watching someone else live, wondering what it's gonna be like when you jump without ever jumping. And I'm just here to tell you, jump. Because only 3 things can happen. You're either gonna jump and fly, are you gonna jump and fall on something soft, are you gonna fall down hard. Either way, you're gonna get back up. You already know you got what it takes to get back up. You're not— your greatest fear is not that you will fall. Your greatest fear is that you will live a full life and never fly, that you never lived. You're not afraid of dying. You're afraid of dying before the world sees who you really are, before they really get your fingerprint, before they really feel your breath, before they really get your contribution, before they really feel you. That's what you don't want to happen. You don't want to leave this place without us knowing you were here. All I'm doing is giving my dream a chance.
Give your dream a chance, y'all.
I'm not extraordinary. Yeah, you don't get off the hook. You don't get to be let off the hook. I'm an ordinary woman. Who chooses every day to make one more extraordinary decision. Everything that I need to get back up, I have in me. If I don't have what I need, I can go get it. Once I figured that out, the world was my, like, playground. Like, the question is just, where do I go get it? Where do I— oh, I don't know about that. Where do I go get it? And, um, and I don't come from a learning background where I was a great student. I wasn't, you know, my highest Highest grade in school was a C plus, and when I got a C plus, I did the happy dance. And and so I didn't have a background where studying was natural for me. But when I realized that if I go study something and I learn it, I own it; it's mine now. Man, it was crazy because all through school I struggled. The last time I took an English class, my English teacher told me I was the weakest writer she ever met in her entire life. Lovely. Yeah, lovely. And the same year I took a speech class, and my speech teacher he said, "Quote unquote, Miss Nichols, I recommend you never." speak in public that you get a desk job. And so I—
That's mean.
Yeah, it just, it's just, you know, it was, it was demotivated people, um, sad people. Hurt people hurt. Sad people make other people sad. Bottom line, don't take it personal. Hurt people hurt. See, most people want the convenience of transformation without the inconvenience required, required for transformation. So my grandmother says, and I love to repeat this, Your conviction, what you're passionate about, your conviction and your convenience don't live on the same block. They ain't even in the same zip code. So if you want to have a conviction for something, you have to sign up, sign up to the inconvenience. We're trying to find convictions and passion and breakthrough on the inside of our box. Well, when you realize that the box doesn't even exist, like someone made up, oh, you're playing outside the box, so we all bought into there's a box. Well, I don't live in— I don't even own a box. I don't even— I don't even want to get in your box. You better come out here because I ain't getting in there. And so when you start thinking like that, Tom, all of a sudden everything is possible. So I, you know, people— I disrupt people when I say you want to make them extraordinary because it lets you off the hook. What if the God that we call God, the divine, whatever your faith is, what if there's no partial. It's not gonna give me a hookup and not give you one. Not gonna give me an opportunity, not give you one. I'm just gonna go after it. If I die down the treadmill, like Will Smith said, I'm gonna be on the treadmill running, you know. I'm not— I'm just not gonna stop because I believe all things are available to us. I'm just willing to go after them. Are you willing? And then that is so disruptive because then you got to make a decision. Because it's easier to live inside the parameters of, well, as a Black woman, well, as born and raised in South Central, well, I'm actively— I'm dyslexic. I'm dyslexic. I wrote so 7 books. I'm dyslexic. So just knowing, like, I'm not perfect. What I do really well is I manage my imperfection well. And so we're all waiting for perfect. It's an illusion that will never come to you, and it's an excuse to never show up and play. Your story is not meant to be your fortress. Your story is meant to be your fuel. Any story. Like, the fact— the beauty of me being one of the top 1% earners in America is that I was on government assistance.
Right.
Like, that's the beauty. Like, come on, it wouldn't be a big deal if my family was rich. Whatever, like I'm supposed to do something. The beauty is that when you show the little engine that could story, like I'm not gonna run fast, but I ain't gonna stop running. I might slow down and have to breathe, catch my breath, but I'm not stopping because I believe all things are available to all of us, and good people should do well. Good people should do well. Do well. Good people just do more good than facts. I'm that same girl who ran track for Dorsey High School, who struggled to get through high school, who got kicked out of college because I couldn't afford to stay. That was on government's— I'm that same girl. I'm that same girl. I don't forget her. I'm also that same woman who runs a multi-million dollar business. I'm also the same woman who has 7 bestsellers. I own both of those. I own all of it. I don't shrink to my greatness, and I don't live in my side of my soul. If you can own your brilliance, own your brilliance while owning your your imperfections. If you can own your imperfections, your giant while owning your smallness. If you can live in duality, constant duality, the freedom will be earth-shaking. If you can live in that, see either you don't want to be as great as you really are, and you're trying to dim your light so that others won't feel. And so you keep playing at 79 watts when you know you're supposed to shine.
No, you're supposed to shine.
And you keep checking the temperature of the room to see what the room can handle versus just giving the room to you and letting them— if your light's too bright, then let them put on some shades. Can you give yourself permission to live in the duality of your imperfections and your smallness and and what you're learning and what you still have to learn, and your greatness and your brilliance and your light? Can you allow them to coexist and then serve them up to the world? To love you, to see you, to inhale you, to judge you, to leave you, to love you. You're just— some of us are just as afraid of being loved as we are to be left. If you go where you've never gone, yeah, do what you've never done, yeah, and say what you've never said, Yep. You'll become the woman and the man you've always known yourself to be.
Actual— all right, y'all, Shawna, great to be back. All right, y'all, that's my message for today. That's my message for today. Apply knowledge correctly. Let's just say that because, uh, because if only, if only 10 people enter the raffle, I'm not giving— I'm not giving 10 away. So I'll give it one for every 10 people that enter the raffle.
