Choosing Love is Choosing Wealth! - The Ash Cash Show 8.25.22

In this episode of the Ash Cash Show, host Ash Exantus delivers a high‑energy motivational broadcast that weaves together original commentary, guest soundbites (Jim Carrey, Jim Rohn, Marianne Williamson, and others), and recurring affirmations. The central thesis is that there are only two fundamental emotions—love and fear—and that choosing love is synonymous with choosing wealth. Love is presented as the source of all good, while fear is portrayed as a self‑constructed lie that blocks abundance. Self‑discipline is defined as an act of self‑love and the primary mechanism for accessing one’s birthright of abundance. The show contrasts a “job” (a transactional exchange of labor for money) with a “calling” (a divine purpose that aligns with one’s inner gifts), urging listeners to view work as ministry. Responsibility, ownership, and consistent application of knowledge are emphasized as essential for moving from fear to faith. Repeated calls to action encourage listeners to act despite fear, affirm that wealth and success are already theirs, and to serve a higher purpose. The episode ends with a series of affirmations, gratitude to the community, and promotional plugs for the show’s platforms.

Um, you know, it's, you know, love, right, uh, equals wealth. So the moment, the moment you choose love, right, the moment you choose love is the moment that you choose wealth. Um, you know, there's only 2 emotions in this world, right? Love and fear. There's only 2 emotions. It may seem like there's a lot of different emotions, right? It may seem like there are a lot of different emotions, but there are only really 2 emotions, um, love and fear. That's it, right? Um, it's either love or fear. That's it. And what happens is, what happens is, um, anything, right, that is good for you, that is good to you, is based in love. Uh, anything that is not good for you or not good to you, um, is based on fear. Appreciate the badge, love. Right, it's based on fear. And so a lot of times, um, a lot of us are focused on these different emotions when there's only 2 emotions. You either have love for something, right? It's either love or it's either fear. And so, when you choose love, right, when you choose love, you are choosing wealth because wealth is good for you.
Even hate, Right.
Um, when, when someone, um, has hate, it is not about— like, like, the opposite, the opposite of hate is love, right? But hate is, um, misguided love. Hate, hate is actually a, a, a, a derivative of fear. Right? Because you don't hate anything that doesn't affect you, right? You don't hate anything that you're not afraid of, right? And so when, you know, fill in the blank, anything that you look at and you're like, yo, I hate that thing, you hate that thing because of, um, what you're afraid that thing can do, right? And so even, you know, when we, when we thought of like racist times and people who are racist who have, you know, I believe, you know, racist people have a mental condition. Um, and even that mental condition of racism is somebody looking at somebody else saying that they're better than that person because of their, you know, color or whatever. But, but if you, if you look deeply into it A lot of it is based on fear, right? And fear is usually because you don't know something, right? Like, when you're afraid of it, it's just because you don't understand it. Because if you don't understand it, then you are afraid of, of what's unknown. You know, and so you're looking at this thing and you don't know what's really going on. So now you are afraid of it. Now you are, and sometimes fear, right? Sometimes fear doesn't mean you're in a victim mentality either, right? Because sometimes when you think about the word fear, you think about afraid, and when you think afraid, you think somebody who's cowardly or less than. But fear, uh, also could, could veer its head through anger, right? When you're angry at something or you're angry at someone, um, you're not angry at them for something they actually did. Or even if you are angry at something they did, it's usually that, that, that emotion of anger is also a derivative of fear, right? And so, for us to get to the space of wealth, true wealth, it's about love, right. It's aligning yourself, right. It's aligning yourself with love. It's aligning yourself with doing the things that serve you, right. Aligning yourself with the things that serve you. And I want to talk about, you know, I want to talk about self-discipline first, right. Because self-discipline, right, is self-love. And before you could even get to a space, right, before you could even get to a space of asking God, asking the universe, working towards, you know, your desires in life, you have to believe that you're worthy of it. But if you don't believe that you're worthy of it, then you're never going to obtain it. And worthiness, right, worthiness starts with loving yourself, right. Worthiness starts with loving yourself. And so, if you're not loving yourself, then how could someone else love you? How can someone else give you what you're not giving yourself? Like, you have to give yourself that love first in order to be worthy of it. And that worthiness starts with self-discipline. Because self-discipline equals self-love.

Deanna, good morning. Alex, good morning.
Is the definition of self-love. 99% of people are not willing to do what it takes to make their dreams come true. The Marines have a saying, everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die.
Nobody wants to die.
The center of bringing any dream into fruition is self-discipline. You know, something as simple as food and eating, it's not about your body as much as it is about your mind. It's getting command of your mind to be able to choose actions that are in your own best interest. Every day we are choosing shit that's not in our own best interest. So if the world is attacking you and the world wants to fight you and the world's trying to hold you down, so you're gonna kick yourself in the balls? Then you will stop yourself from getting what you dream. And I think the word discipline has kind of gotten a bad name. We think about it in terms of punishment. I'm not, I'm not talking about discipline in that way. I'm talking about discipline in the sense that you, you forego immediate pleasure for the exchange of long-term self-respect. I believe that self-discipline is the definition of self-love.
Self-discipline, y'all.
That when you say that you love yourself, that means that You have behavior towards yourself that is loving. Self-discipline is the center of all material success.
Self-discipline.
You cannot win the war against the world if you can't win the war against your own mind. Self-love is you say to yourself, hey man, look, I know you want to eat that pizza and it'll be really good, You know, but I can't let you eat that, man, because if you eat that pizza, you're gonna feel like shit, you know? And I, I just, I love you too much to let you eat that. Self-love is, hey, look, I know you got a test on Monday, you know, and I know you really want to go out with your friends. It's Saturday night, you want to go out, but if you fail that test, you're not gonna feel good about yourself, you know? I just, I I love you too much to let you go out tonight. Self-discipline is self-love. Self-discipline is self-love. If you want to be happy, you have to love yourself, which means you have to discipline your behavior. The road to sustained happiness is through disciplining your behavior. We tend to base our self-esteem on what other people think, and That's not really self-esteem. Self-esteem is supposed to be how we feel about ourselves. And I was just saying how dangerous it is to allow other people to determine how you're going to feel about you. And it's kind of like looking into a broken mirror. You're going to look in a broken mirror and then change your face to try to look good in this And it's just other people's opinions is a really shitty way to determine how we feel about ourselves. Don't matter whose fault it is that something is broken, if it's your responsibility to fix it. For example, it's not somebody's fault if their father was an abusive alcoholic. But it's for damn sure their responsibility to figure out how they're going to deal with those traumas and try to make a life out of it. It's not your fault if your partner cheated and ruined your marriage, but it is for damn sure your responsibility to figure out how to take that pain and how to overcome that and build a happy life for yourself. Fault and responsibility do not go together. It sucks. But they don't. When something is somebody's fault, we want them to suffer. We want them punished. We want them to, to pay. We want it to be their responsibility to fix it. But that's, that's not how it works, especially when it's your heart. Your heart, your life, your happiness is your responsibility and your responsibility alone. As long as we're pointing the finger and And stuck in whose fault something is. We're jammed and trapped into victim mode. When you're in victim mode, you're stuck in suffering. The road to power is in taking responsibility. Your heart, your life, your happiness— your responsibility and your responsibility alone. You can make a person smile, you can make a person feel good, you can make a person laugh, but whether or not a person is happy is deeply and totally and utterly out of your control. The prerequisite for spending time with any person is that they nourish and inspire you. They feed your flame. Look at your last 5 text messages. Are those people feeding your flame or dousing your fire?
Or dousing your fire.
Put your phone down for just a second and look Look to the people around you. Are those people throwing logs on your fire or are they pissing on it? Self-discipline is the definition of self—
Self-discipline is self-love.
Definition of who I am is very clear to me, and it also redefines who I want to be in that I know for a fact that I'm stronger than I thought I was. You know, you can't help but ask yourself the question, what would I do if I was in Muhammad Ali's shoes? Self-discipline is the definition of self-love. I'm motivated by fear. I hate Being scared to do something. And I think what developed, uh, in my mind—
Motivated by fear. Get fear out of here.
Attitude that I started attacking things.
Attack the things you fear.
Why were you scared in your bed the night before?
Why did you— what do you need that fear for?
Just don't go.
Why are you scared in your bed 16 hours before you jump? Why are you scared in the car? Why could you not enjoy breakfast?
Fear is—
fear of what?
Fear of what?
You're nowhere even near the airplane. Everything up to the stepping out, there's actually no reason to be scared.
Nobody said it was a great job.
You don't have to jump. And then in that moment, all of a sudden, where you should be terrified, is the most blissful experience of your life. And God placed the best things in life.
God placed the best things on the other side of fear. Mind Right Radio, inspiration and motivation 25/8.
That's all the time.
More than humanly possible. On another level. Let me tell you something. Um, God placed, right, God placed the best things in life on the other side of fear. Right, the best things in life are on the other side of fear. And why is that? Because on the other side of fear and the distance, right, the distance that it takes for you to get from where you are afraid to the other side requires faith. And that's, that's only, that's the only requirement. Right? The only abundance is your birthright. The only requirement that you have to, uh, to receive and allow the abundance that is your birthright is faith, because God is going to give you what you believe. And so if you have something that is like you're afraid— uh, Marcia, thank you for the badge love— if you got something that is making you afraid Right? Then you believe that that thing could stop you. And so if, if you are afraid in your, in your being and you allow that, that thing that you're afraid of to really stop you, then that means you believe in that fear and you don't believe in faith. And you're not going to get rewarded for believing in fear, believing in something that's not true. Because everything is working for your greater good. And so if you're believing in something that's not true, right— Butterfly Thoughts, thank you for the badge love— if you're believing in something that's not true, then what you are essentially doing is accepting the lie, believing in the lie. And why would you get rewarded with the truth, which is, is abundance If you believe in a lie, I hope I I I ain't lose nobody there, right? Fear is a lie. Fear doesn't exist, right? Fear doesn't exist. Fear is a lie. You made it up. Anything anything that you're afraid of, you made it up. You lied to yourself, and you now you believe the lie.
Facts.
Anything that you are afraid of, you made up because it's a lie, all right? You lied to yourself. You made up— you made up, right? You made up a, a situation, a condition, something in your head based on something you heard, something— if you didn't experience that thing, right? if you didn't experience that thing, whatever you're afraid of is a lie. And, and, and— so, I'll give you an example, right. Because somebody might say, well, Ash, what about the things that can actually hurt you? I'm not afraid of them because I know they can hurt me, and so I stay away from them. It's simple. I'm not— I don't have the spirit of fear.
I'm not—
I'm not afraid Of a hot stove, right? I'm not afraid of a hot stove because I know that if I put my hand on the hot stove, I'm gonna burn. So I stay away. My hand stays away from it. So why should I fear something when I— when I know— I know the outcome though, right? But if I say if this, then that, and, and I know that's gonna happen and I'm afraid Like, nah, I'm not, I'm not fearful, right? I'm not fearful of things that I, I know, right? Which is why if you believe that abundance is your birthright and you know, right, that on the other side of fear is the best things in life, right, then do it scared, do it anyway, right? Do it scared, do it anyway. Because when you do it scared, when you do it anyway, you are showing faith, right? Which is a requirement of allowing the abundance that's your birthright, but you're also showing self-discipline. You don't realize that, right? You don't realize that when you are showing faith and you're showing that you believe in something, you're showing self-discipline. There's many times I sit and I create a plan for myself and I say, this is what it's going to take to get me to the next level. And as I'm doing that thing that's taking me to the next level, uh, some type of fear creeps in, but I do it anyway. I do, I do it scared. I do it anyway. A lot, a lot of y'all, a lot of y'all kind of see a lot of the stuff that I do in public, um, and, and I, I may look fearless, right? I may look fearless. Some of y'all might be like, yo, Ash ain't scared of nothing. But that ain't true, right? There's a lot of things that I do that I lie to myself, right? I'm lying to myself. I'm looking at these circumstances that don't even exist. I'm creating these scenarios that don't even exist, and they're keeping me up. They're making me— oh my God, I'm worried, I'm worried, I'm worried. But I do it anyway. I do what I— I do— I run towards fear, right? I run towards fear. In fact, if I'm afraid to do something, I do it anyway. Like, that's my barometer, actually. And, and that has helped me every time. Because I know that God reserves the best things in life on the opposite side of fear. And so, if I'm afraid of something, if something is like keeping me up, that's my cue to do it. And that is a level of self-discipline that I've created within myself. Because the truth of the matter is that you either are going to get 2 things. You're either going to have self-discipline or regret. And we all— we don't know. We don't know when God gonna say your time is up. And so when it's all said and done, I need God to be pleased. I want God to be pleased because God says, Ash, you were obedient. You listened. You believed in me. You didn't allow the outside world to take advantage of you. Right? So when it's all said and done, I need God to be pleased because because that level of obedience is what is bringing heaven on earth. Right? That level of obedience where you where you go past your fear when you do it anyway. That level of obedience is what's going to get you to that next level. So you are you either you either choose today. You choose today. Are you going to choose self-discipline or are you going to choose regret?
Of all the subjects we've covered so far and are about to cover, none is more important than covering the disciplines for success. What's at the core of achieving the good life? The major key to the good life— the major key is not in learning how to set goals. It is not in learning how to better manage your It is not in mastering the attributes of leadership. Every day, in a thousand different ways, we are trying to improve ourselves by learning how to do things. We spend a lifetime gathering knowledge in classrooms, in textbooks, in experiences. Now, if knowledge is power— Knowledge is power. If knowledge is the forerunner to success, then why do we fall short of our objectives? Why, in spite of all our knowledge and in spite of our collective experiences, do we find ourselves aimlessly wandering, settling for a life of existence rather than a life of substance? There may be many answers to this question. Your answers may be different than your associates' or your spouse's or your friends'. While there may be many answers to this question, the fundamental answer is the absence Of discipline, applying all that we know. That's the key word— discipline, self-discipline. We might add one more word here: consistent. Consistent self-discipline. It doesn't really matter how smart you are or how much you know if you don't use it. It doesn't really matter that you graduated magna cum laude if you're stuck in a low-paying job. It doesn't really matter if you attended every seminar that comes to town if you don't apply what you've learned.
You gotta apply.
Better than knowledge is applied knowledge. And once we've applied our knowledge, we must study the results of that process. Apply our knowledge, study the results, refine our approach. Finally, by trying and observing and refining and trying again, Our knowledge will inevitably produce worthy results, admirable results. And with the joy and results of our efforts, we continue to apply, to learn, to observe, to fuel our ambition with the positive reinforcement of continued progress. Pretty soon, we'll find that we're swept into a spiral of achievement, a vertical rise to success. And the ecstasy of that total experience makes for a life of triumph over tragedy, dullness, and mediocrity.
First Lady Owen, I got you.
But for this one, self-discipline. Consistent self-discipline.
Consistent self-discipline.
Consistent self-discipline to master the art of setting goals.
Yep.
To master the art of time management.
Time management. Setting goals.
To master the art of parenting and relationship. If we don't make consistent self-discipline part of our daily lives, the results we seek will be sporadic.
Sporadic.
It takes a consistent effort to truly manage our valuable time, or we'll be consistently frustrated. Our time will be eaten up by others whose demands are stronger than our own. It takes discipline to conquer the nagging voices in our minds, the fear of failure, the fear of success, the fear of poverty, the fear of a broken heart. It takes discipline.
It takes discipline. Yo, look, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. It takes discipline. And so let me tell you how God is quick, right? Because I was thinking about, and like I kid you not, I was thinking about jobs, right? Because I know what economy we're in. And as I was thinking about this message today about love or fear, I was like, man, there's a lot of people who are afraid of this economy, of this environment, because of the potential of losing their job, right. And then immediately, like, as I had that thought earlier, um, you know, uh, says, currently on a 2-week notice at work, low-key scared but trusting God And taking the jump into entrepreneurship. And so immediately, you know, immediately my thoughts was like, wow, that was fast, right? Because God is— God told me that this morning, um, and I went in a different direction, but now this is confirmation that I got to go in the direction I needed to go in. But secondly, uh, you know, fast shout, uh, to, uh, to, to To, uh, to Shino, right? Shino Moore. I think I'm saying that right. But Shai was like, congratulations, Queen, because that's what I thought. When somebody says, yo, I'm on a 2 weeks notice for my job, I, I congratulate them, right? And, and the reason why I congratulate them is because, um, you can't lose your— matter of fact, hold on, let me let Marianne Williams— look, you about to lose You about to lose your job, get this dance. You about to lose your job 'cause you are detaining me for nothing. You are detaining me for nothing. I got you. Look, Lady Owens, I got you. And everybody else, everybody else, we got you. Watch this.
One of the most positive transitions you can make is from viewing your work as a job to viewing it as a calling. A job is an exchange of energy in which you do a material task and someone provides money in exchange. A calling, however, is an organic field of energy that emerges from the deepest aspects of who you are. It is the fulfillment of what God has created you to be and do.
Don't miss this. Hold on, I need— I need— yo, if you doing— if you multitasking, I need you to listen. My, my hope is that everybody loses their job. Right? Because we were not put on earth to do a job, right? We were put on earth to follow our calling. Congratulations! Let's go one more time. One more time. Let's go. You about to lose your job. Get this dance. You about to lose your job. Listen, I want you to feel this in your soul.
Approaching your work as a job versus approaching it as a calling makes all the difference in whether or not you dwell in the miraculous universe. You have a calling simply because you are alive. You have a calling because you are a child of God. You have a calling Because you're on this earth with a divine purpose, to rise to the level of your highest creative possibility, expressing all that you are intellectually, emotionally, psychologically, and physically in order to make the universe a more beautiful place. As you do this, your entire life becomes your ministry, a way to serve God and to serve the world.
Your life becomes your ministry.
If you think of money only as something you get in exchange for doing a job, Then you'll never be free of limited thought forms surrounding money. We are heir to the laws that rule the world we identify with. If you identify only with the material plane, you place yourself at the effect of pretty severe economic realities of scarcity and lack. If you identify with the spiritual plane, you are under no laws but God's. I'm looking for a job. I'm trying to figure out what I should do. And I don't know how I'm going to make ends meet are sentences that confuse the universe. A child of God doesn't have to look for a job. A child of God doesn't have to figure out what to do. A child of God doesn't have to worry about how ends will meet. A child of God is simply a magnet for all things good.
A magnet for all things good.
If you think of life as a struggle, Or a place where you're on your own is not the real you. The real you already has a God-given function, and the universe is set up to support it.
Yep.
The best way to summon your true calling is to put yourself in service to God.
Put yourself in service.
The following daily prayer is from A Course in Miracles. Where would you have me go? What would you have me do? What would you have me say? And to whom? While a job is separate from the rest of our lives, a calling is a fulfillment of the rest of our lives. By striving to be the best we can be, we create the internal blueprint by which we do the best we can do. On a soul level, we want to work, we want to create, we want to be productive and serve others and share our gifts with the world. Often it is not external forms of obstruction that hold us back, but rather internal ones. And nothing releases us internally more than the desire and the willingness to serve. The world can give you a job. The world can give you a job taken away, but a true calling puts you in a career zone that cannot be taken away. It reflects your willingness to do what you feel inwardly led to do. In order to help heal the world. The universe then registers your true substance, your true seriousness, and your true purpose. Some things you do will bring forth worldly wealth. Other things you do will not directly bring forth wealth at all, but being the right things to do will summon wealth miraculously from other sources. Losing a job does not mean you lose your calling. Because as a personal ambassador of God, you have been given a permanent assignment. You are here to represent him who sent you, and he does not change his mind about it.
This is Mary Ann Williams.
Never unemployed by God.
Never unemployed by God.
Just about you. It's true about all of us. Anything that appears to separate us from each other is not the deepest level of our identity.
It's not all that good, y'all.
We all have different jobs, but the same ministry. Some of us are technicians. Some of us are mathematicians. Some of us are writers and artists. Some of us are salespeople. Some of us don't even work as work is defined by the world. But our value individually is determined not by what we do, but by the consciousness with which we do it. We are all here to be available channels for the love that heals all things. A job takes a form, but our ministry is content. Even if you lose your job, you still have your ministry because it is part of who you are. Your life has no less value if you're not employed as the world defines it. If you are kind to people, if you're compassionate, If you pour your excellence into whatever you're doing, then you're doing the job God sent you to do. From that will emerge the next form that's needed to host the energies you're bringing forth. You are now tuned in to Mind Right Radio. Elevate your mind, you elevate your life.
All right, y'all. And so last but not least, y'all. Here's what I'm gonna tell you. Love or fear, right? Love is wealth. Self-love is wealth. Self-discipline is wealth. You look, it's either love or fear. You get to choose. You have abundance. Abundance is your birthright. You have abundance. Um, I am greatness on display. Y'all can get the shirts at ashcashmerch.com. I'm saying go to ashcashmerch.com. Uh, you can get the merch there. But all right, last but not least, if you change your mind, then you change your love and fear. Y'all, Mind Right Radio, love and fear, motivation 25.8, love or fear, time more than humanly possible, elevation.
Fear is going to be a player in your life. You get to decide how much. You can spend your whole life imagining ghosts, worrying about the pathway to the future, but all there will ever be is what's happening here and the decisions we make in this moment, which are based in either love or fear. My father could have been a great comedian, but he didn't believe that that was possible for him. And so he made a conservative choice. Instead, he got a safe job as an accountant. And when I was 12 years old, he was let go from that safe job, and our family had to do whatever we could to survive. I learned many great lessons from my father, not the least of which was that you can fail at what you don't want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love. When I was about 28, after a decade as a professional professional comedian, I realized one night in LA the purpose of my life had always been to free people from concern, just like my dad. What's yours? How will you serve the world? What do they need that your talent can provide? That's all you have to figure out. I can tell you from experience, the effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is. Everything Everything you gain in life will rot and fall apart, and all that will be left of you is what was in your heart. The only one I hadn't freed was myself, and that's when my search for identity deepened. I wondered who I'd be without my fame. Who would I be if I said things that people didn't want to hear, or if I defied their expectations of me? What if I showed up to the party without my Mardi Gras mask and refused to flash my breasts? Or a handful of beans. You guys are so ahead of the game. You already know who you are. And that peace, that peace that we're after, lies somewhere beyond personality, beyond the perception of others, beyond invention and disguise, even beyond effort itself. You can join the game, fight the wars, play with form all you want, but To find real peace, you have to let the armor go. Your need for acceptance can make you invisible in this world. Don't let anything stand in the way of the light that shines through this form. Risk being seen in all of your glory. You're not the avatars we create. We are not the pictures on the film stock. We are the light that shines through. All else is just smoke and mirrors, distracting but not truly compelling. I've often said that I wish people could realize all their dreams and wealth and fame, and so that they could see that it's not where you're going to find your sense of completion. Like many of you, I was concerned about going out into the world and doing something bigger than myself, until someone smarter than myself made me realize that there is nothing bigger than myself. The soul is not contained within Within the limits of my body. My body is contained within the limitlessness of my soul.
Hey.
Once that button is functioning in your life, there's no story that the mind can create that will be as compelling. The imagination is always manufacturing scenarios, both good and bad, and the ego tries to keep you trapped in the multiplex of the mind. And if you listen to it, there will always be someone who's doing better than you. No matter what you gain, ego will not let It will tell you you cannot stop until you've left an indelible mark on the earth, until you've achieved immortality. How tricky is this ego that it would tempt us with the promise of something we already possess?
You already possess it.
As far as I can tell, it's just about letting the universe know what you want and working toward it while letting go. Your job is not to figure out how it's going to happen for you, but to open the door in your head. And when the door opens in real life, just walk through it. There's always doors opening. They keep opening. When I say life doesn't happen to you, it happens for you, I really don't know if that's true. I'm just making a conscious choice to perceive challenges as something beneficial so that I can deal with them In the most productive way. You'll come up with your own style. That's part of the fun. Oh, and, uh, why not take a chance on faith?
Why not take a chance on faith, y'all?
I don't believe in hope.
Hope is a beggar.
Hope walks through the fire and faith leaps over it. You are ready and able to do beautiful things in this world. And after you walk through those doors today, You will only ever have 2 choices: love or fear. Choose love, and don't ever let fear turn you against your playful heart. Fear is going to be a player in your life. You get to decide how much. You can spend your whole life imagining ghosts, worrying about the pathway to the future.
Yes!
Goosebumps!
But all there will ever be is what's happening here.
Goosebumps!
And the decisions we make in this moment Which are based in either love or which are based in either love or force.
Liquid means rewind.
Don't shut me.
Somebody needs to hear this again. I'm sorry. You requested it, so we rewind. Somebody needs to hear this. That's inspiration on another level. Mind Right Radio. Elevate your mind. Elevate your life.
Talk to him.
Talk to him, Jim. Yes, Jim Carrey. You are crazy.
Yo.
Somebody— I'm getting goosebumps. We need to hear this. Somebody needs to hear this again. I don't know who, but somebody needs to hear that again.
Fear is going to be a player in your life.
Whoa.
You get to decide how much. You can spend your whole life imagining ghosts, worrying about the pathway to the future, but all there will ever be is what's happening here and the decisions we make in this moment. Which are based in either love or fear. My father could have been a great comedian, but he didn't believe that that was possible for him, and so he made a conservative choice. Instead, he got a safe job as an accountant. And when I was 12 years old, he was let go from that safe job, and our family had to do whatever we could to survive. I learned many great lessons from my father, not the least of which was that you can fail and you don't So you might as well take a chance on doing what you love. When I was about 28, after a decade as a professional comedian, I realized one night in LA the purpose of my life had always been to free people from concern, just like my dad. What's yours? How will you serve the world? What do they need that your talent can provide? That's all you have to figure out. I can tell you from experience, the effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is. Everything you gain in life will rot and fall apart, and all that will be left of you is what was in your heart. The only one I hadn't freed was myself, and that's when my search for identity deepened. I wondered who I'd be without my fame. Who would I be if I said things that people didn't want to hear? Or if I defied their expectations of me? What if I showed up to the party without my Mardi Gras mask and refused to flash my breasts for a handful of beads? You guys are so ahead of the game. You already know who you are. And that peace, that peace that we're after, lies somewhere beyond personality, beyond the perception of others, beyond invention and disguise. Even beyond effort itself. I've often said that I wish people could realize all their dreams and wealth and fame so that they could see that it's not where you're going to find your sense of completion. Like many of you, I was concerned about going out into the world and doing something bigger than myself until someone smarter than myself made me realize that there was nothing bigger than myself.
Nothing bigger than myself.
My body is contained within the limitlessness of my soul. Once that button is functioning in your life, there's no story that the mind can create that will be as compelling. The imagination is always manufacturing scenarios, both good and bad, and the ego tries to keep you Trapped in the multiplex of the mind. And if you listen to it, there will always be someone who's doing better than you.
Facts.
No matter what you gain, ego will not let you rest.
Will not let you rest.
Will tell you you cannot stop until you've left an indelible mark on the earth, until you've achieved immortality. How tricky is this ego that it would tempt us with the promise of something not wholly As far as I can tell, it's just about letting the universe know what you want and working toward it while letting go of how it comes to pass. Your job is not to figure out how it's going to happen for you, but to open the door in your head. And when the door opens in real life, just walk through it.
Just walk through it.
There's always doors opening. They keep opening. And when I say life doesn't happen to you, It happens for you.
Happens for you.
That's true. I'm just making a conscious choice to perceive challenges as something beneficial so that I can deal with them in the most productive way. You'll come up with your own style. That's part of the fun. Oh, and, uh, why not take a chance on faith as well? I don't believe in hope. Hope is a beggar. Hope will Fear walks through the fire and faith leaps over it.
