Why You Should Stop Keeping Score and Let Life Happen

Ash Cash argues that social media hides the work behind wins, making people chase quick results instead of committing to long-term process. Fall in love with daily habits, measure progress without using metrics as an excuse to quit, and surround yourself with people doing productive work.

Yo, what's up y'all? Ash Cash on my daily walk, and one of the thought processes that I had today in today's message is really about doing the work and not necessarily looking for the reward immediately. Living in abundance, hard work got me living in abundance. You gotta grind if you want it. Why do I say that? Because we live in a day and age now that results are seem right, and I'm not even gonna say they are. Results seem like they happen really quickly for people, and you know we spend most of our time on the internet. You know whether it's social media, whether like on YouTube, or whether it's on you know TikTok and Instagram and. Um, and, and I won't say YouTube because, because YouTube gives context, uh, but when you are looking at, you know, the, the, the Instagrams, the Facebook posts, the TikToks that all you do is scrolling, scrolling, scrolling and seeing win after win after win after win, nobody really posts, posts about the process. And so what happens is because people don't post about the process, all you see is win, win, win, win, win. And guess what you want? You want win, win, win, win, win. You don't want the process because the process is not shown. And if you can't see it, then you can't— you're not going to want to be it. And so if the process is not shown, and the process is not sexy either, the process is not fun, uh, for the most part. And so a lot of people are watching the wins. The wins look fun. The wins look exciting. The wins get applause. The wins get likes. The wins get views. But the process don't get none of that. But the truth of the matter is that if you see somebody winning, who's really winning, not who's making it seem like they're winning, if you're seeing somebody who is really winning, 9 times out of 10, 9 times out of 10, 9.9 times out of 10, they went through a process. And they— a lot of people go through the process in silence. A lot of people just, just put their head down and work. And then when they put their head up, you start seeing the results, you start seeing the benefits, the wins. And so my message to you is, if you really want success, long-lasting success, success that can't be taken away from you, success that you can enjoy, then fall in love with the process. Stop looking at the scoreboard all the time. Stop looking at, you know, what you get. Uh, from what you're putting out. Do you, you know, sit down, think of a game plan, think of this thing that you want to do. Yes, uh, you want to see, you know, you want to measure the thing. You want to make sure that the thing is, you know, whatever, whatever you're doing, that you're doing the right thing, you're going in the right direction. So you want to measure it, but don't measure it as a way to give up, right? Don't measure it as a way to say, you know what, I'm gonna do something else. Stick to this thing forever, right? So like, for instance, you know, I'll give you a quick example because, you know, examples really work. For instance, for me, you know, I've always, you know, I have a, you know, dream, a dream body, right? And what happens is that, you know, with, with the, with the dream body that I desire, I know what it takes, you know what I'm saying? Like, I know the process, you know, I know the process that it takes in order to get that dream body, right? So what happens if I, you know, start the process and then I jump on the scale and immediately, because I'm watching everybody with their videos of before and after and like, oh my God, this person used to look this way, now they look, you know, they got a 6-pack. And I start working out for a week and I don't have a 6-pack, it's the process, right? It takes 10 years to be 10 years old. It takes 20 years to be 20 years old, right? Like, there's a process that has to happen. And so I can't expect to do something in a week and then check on my progress and don't see progress and then give up. And then Say, you know what, I'm gonna give up. I'm not gonna, um, you know, I'm not gonna walk anymore. I'm not gonna box. I'm not gonna work out. I'm not gonna do the things that I know is gonna eventually get me to where I need to go because I don't see the results. So what is the alternative? What I should do is really focus on, um, the process regardless of the results, cuz I know that if I just keep walking every single day, walk, walk, walk, walk, walk, eat right, eat right, eat right, work out, work out, work out. Like if I do the things, man, one day I'm gonna wake up and I'm gonna have a six-pack. One day I'm gonna wake up and I'll be like, yo, I did that. You know what I'm saying? And so for me, and you know, I would potentially suggest this for y'all, stop looking at the scoreboard. You know what I'm saying? You know, know what you desire. Put the work in. Do the activities. So if it's money, if you're looking for a certain amount of money, do income-producing activities, right? If you do income-producing activity, all you just keep doing income-producing activity, income-producing activity, income-producing activity. It's not going to be possible for you not to. get income, right. And then, if you're doing income-producing activities and you're surrounded yourself by other people who are doing income-producing activities, now you get to talk to them and see what works and what doesn't work. So that's why you got to be in a room, right. That's why, you know, I'm walking around other people because maybe I'm walking too slow, maybe I should be walking faster, right. When I go to box, you know, I got a trainer who's training me. So I'm doing the things that I know gets the results because I'm around other people who are getting the same results. And so now I'm just not doing it on my own. So keep doing the activities, stop looking at the scoreboard, stop, you know, trying to, you know, convince yourself that something is working or not working or whatever, because once you make a decision to do a thing, If you make a decision, just do the thing, and the thing will give you the result if you believe it's going to give you the result. That's the mindset part of it, is that if you— I know people who eat whatever they want and still lose weight because they have this belief system and they're doing the things that are necessary for them to be able to eat whatever they want and still lose weight. And so it's really about the mindset, and that's, you know, I know people who don't follow certain business principles, but they believe they're going to be successful, so they're successful. And so that's another part about, you know, mindset and just doing the activities and believing that the activity that you're doing is going to work. All right, y'all, live in abundance, y'all. Ash Cash, I'm out.
