In this short "Marriage Minute" episode of the Naked Marriage Podcast, the hosts introduce the concept that a thriving marriage requires both deep friendship and romantic intimacy, likening them to two wings that must be equally strong for the relationship to soar. They promote Narupe Alphonse's course "Keep Your Clothes On," which frames marriage growth through the Christian virtues of compassion, patience, humility, forgiveness, and love, encouraging couples to choose love daily and let Christ shape their hearts. The episode explains how focusing on friendship—shared fun, companionship, and mutual support—can prevent couples from circling in one‑dimensional patterns, especially as illustrated by long‑married couples who remain best friends. Listeners are invited to access the course via an XO NOW subscription or direct purchase, and the segment serves as a preview for a longer upcoming episode.
We all want a marriage that thrives, but sometimes it feels like we're just surviving instead of growing together.
In Keep Your Clothes On, Narupe Alphonse teaches couples how to dress their marriage in the virtues of Christ—compassion, patience, humility, forgiveness, and love—so that your relationship can flourish no matter the challenges.
Narupe helps couples see that marriage isn't just about getting along. It's about choosing love daily, bearing with one another in grace, and letting Christ shape your hearts together. You'll learn how to handle each other with care, practice humility, and let the Word of God guide your marriage.
If you're ready to strengthen your marriage and live out Christlike love every day, this course is for you.
Keep Your Clothes On is available through your XO NOW subscription, or you can purchase it individually at xonow.com.
Hey friends, welcome to the Marriage Minute on the Naked Marriage Podcast. Every Friday, we're dropping a new short episode to give you a quick jolt of encouragement for your marriage. This also serves as a sneak preview for this coming Monday's brand new episode. We hope you enjoyed today's Marriage Minute. You and your spouse should be best friends.
Like, friendship and romance in marriage are like two wings on the same bird. If you want your marriage to soar, you have to have both. And for most couples, they're better at one than the other, and which means one wing is stronger than the other, which means you kind of fly in a circle a little bit. If you want to move forward and higher together, you have to get both of those to the same strength— the, the romance, the passion, the, the connection, the intimacy, all of that is one side. But then the other side is just the companionship, the fun, the connection, the friendship. And that's the part we're focusing on in this episode because it's an often overlooked and yet critically important part of marriage. And when you look at couples who've been married 50+ years and they're still holding hands and still laughing and still going strong, those are best friends.
Thank you for tuning in to today's Marriage Minute. I hope it was an encouragement to you. Don't forget to come back on Monday for a brand new full-length episode of the Naked podcast. We'll see you then.
