Hidden Pandemic of Chronic Illness | Ashok Gupta | Gupta Program |

Ashok Gupta presents a Facebook/YouTube Live session describing post-COVID syndrome (long COVID) as a significant, under-recognized problem affecting an estimated 5–10% of people (Zoe Covid study). He outlines a clinic model in which severe infection can sensitize the brain and nervous system, producing persistent immune, neurological and autonomic symptoms, and shares patient recovery stories and treatment/practical recommendations (rest, self-care, the Gupta Program and a free ‘coronavirus challenge’). The talk also promotes the Gupta Program’s resources and upcoming webinars.

Actually, what I was saying was that in today's Facebook Live, what we're going to be looking at is before COVID how do we deal with protecting ourselves from getting Covid and then if we do get Covid, what do we do? And then post Covid, if we do go on to having post Covid syndrome, what are the next steps as a result of that? Okay, so we're hoping that the livestream won't get interrupted again. So today it's really about having this urgent message of support for the hidden suffering that is occurring around the world. Most of the media and the mainstream press is focused on obviously preventing deaths, preventing death rates, lowering the death rate. And that's perfectly understandable and normal. And yet what people don't realize is that actually 5 to 10% of people, according to certain surveys go on to having long term symptoms. And when we say long term, around 5% of people are going on to having symptoms for longer than two to three months, according to the Zoe Covid study. And so when, as I mentioned earlier, in case that got cut out, there are many people talking about conspiracy theories or saying it's not real or it's just a flu, and yet we at our clinic are seeing patients who've had Covid who are going on to having long term symptoms. So this really underlines to us the severity of the illness. And often these people are being ignored because it's not being taken seriously or people are saying, oh, it's just anxiety or it's just the panic around the pandemic. But really a lot of these patients are suffering severe symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, muscle weakness, pain in the body, cardiac issues, neurological issues, persons exertional malaise where if they exercise or do activity then they may be bedridden for many days. So this is a real condition and we've obviously spent many years treating people with me chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. And we believe that COVID 19 is a potential severe trigger for these types of long term illnesses. So our message of hope here is that if you yourself are suffering from COVID 19 or post COVID 19 syndrome, where you're having long term symptoms, then today's webinar, today's session, live session is definitely for you. And as I mentioned, we've already started treating patients at our clinic who have post Covid syndrome. And if people have it for longer than two to three months, we are actually terming it chronic post Covid syndrome. So cpcs and in terms of what causes it, I'm Sure. Many of you are kind of wondering, well, why do people get post Covid syndrome? You know, if I give you a kind of a very high level view of what we believe is happening at our clinic in terms of these conditions, essentially, you know, we asked the biggest question of, well, why are we here? We're here because over thousands of millions of years of evolution, this nervous system that we've inherited from the ongoing evolutionary process designed to help us survive and pass on our genes. And most of the time, it's brilliant at doing that. Okay, just give me one second. We just need to deal with another technical issue that we've just got here. As I mentioned, we're hoping that we don't get any further outages. And remember, last time it was down to the Facebook having an outage itself. So hopefully this will, this will work. So what is the background to how these conditions get developed in the body? As you mentioned, there's an evolutionary bias our system has towards survival. And when that survival is threatened, then the system can go into overdrive. So we know that COVID 19 is quite a severe virus if the body has a severe response. So initially that virus may go into the nose and the epithelial cells try to protect our system from actually having that particular illness. Then if it goes down to the throat and down into the chest, then it can cause severe complications. So we know that around 10 to 20% of patients who have COVID 19 go on to having severe symptoms. And out of those, a few percent can go onto being in an ICU and having it very severely. And so there's a severe impact on the brain and on the body from this virus. And if somebody perhaps is under a lot of stress or their immune system hasn't been effective enough, or indeed their immune system has gone over the top, and there's a cytokine storm in the chest, in the lungs, which then creates pneumonia and a kind of over then obviously this is something which can then go on to causing long term symptoms in the brain and in the body. Just one little technical issue. There we go. Good. And so when that happens, we believe here at the clinic that the brain goes into overdrive, especially parts of the brain involved in pain syndromes, et cetera. So the brain goes into this process of overstimulating the immune system, overstimulating the neurological system and the nervous system in response to anything that reminds it of the original situation, the original sensitizing event, as is often known. And so when the brain goes into this overdrive, that can then Keep the immune system triggered, which is why a lot of our patients have symptoms of the immune system still being active. So it can be swollen glands, a kind of fluid feeling that continues. And not only does the immune system over triggered, but then the nervous system is over triggered. So that means there can be faster heart rates, there can be pots, there can be anxiety, there can be muscle weakness, muscle pain, all of these kinds of symptoms as a result of a tightened, overstimulated nervous system. And obviously the immune system as well, which can cause a lot of these symptoms. And that thing can go on to meaning that people are bed bound or often at least housebound and suffering severely with these symptoms. And so once that system is set up in the brain, and you can read more about this on our website@guptoprogram.com once that system is set up, then the symptoms in the body trigger the brain into overactivity because the brain believes that we are still suffering from COVID 19. The brain then overstimulates the nervous system, the immune system, the pain system within the body, which then triggers lots of symptoms in the body and over inflammation that can be over inflammation in the lungs, over inflammation in the body itself. And also there's evidence of inflammation in the brain. Those symptoms then double back to the brain, telling the brain that we're still in danger, there's still something wrong, which then triggers the brain, especially the amygdala and the insula, to overstimulate these defensive responses. And the brain and body then get caught in that loop because the brain's priority is survival. That is the number one priority. It doesn't care whether you're healthy and strong and whatever. It cares, are you going to survive? And therefore these symptoms linger and can go on and on and on. But the good news is that we here at the clinic are now actively treating post Covid syndrome. And I've already spoken to a number of patients who are on the Gupta program. And I want to read out to you a story for one of our patients, a lady called Sandrine. And actually her story, we will be publishing that on the website as well. She says, I first had the symptoms of COVID 19 on March 9, 2020. And I had a sore throat, a dry cough, and after seven days, a very strong body aches, as well as pain in the lungs and difficulty breathing. I saw a doctor who diagnosed me with COVID 19. Normally, the symptoms should have disappeared after the second week, but they persistent, they persisted and other symptoms started to appear. And then this lady, Sandrine Found the Gupta program on the Internet. And she started the program in mid July. So she had what we call post Covid syndrome for around four months or so. And within a couple of weeks of starting the program, she got up, she was able to get out of bed, walked around her apartment, she was able to eat meals at the table, spent more time sitting down, sitting up. Then in August, she was able to climb the stairs, she was able to walk a kilometer in a local neighborhood. The post exertional malaise symptoms started disappearing. That used to drain her of energy. She still had fatigue. And then now later in August, she was able to walk 4-6km and spend normal days as if you're on vacation. And she's still in that process of healing and recovery in terms of getting a full energy back. But being able to walk 4-6km a day is obviously a great achievement within just a few weeks of using the Gupta program. So that's our first kind of recovery story of somebody with chronic post Covid syndrome. And we have many other people who are using the program which are encouraging to persist with it, to keep going. And we'll be shortly publishing some more stories on our website on the success stories page or the Post Covid page, which helps others be inspired to say we're not alone, there is a way through this condition. And even though we've been perhaps ignored or the mainstream medical profession doesn't take us seriously, we here at the Books program want to give you that hope that there is a way through, there is a way of healing. Because we're used to that story. Having spent, you know, over 10 to 15 years treating people with me chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. And in terms of, you know, I mentioned that we'd be looking at before, during and after. If you currently don't have COVID 19 and want to strengthen your immune system against COVID 19, we have a free not for profit program using all the latest science on how you can build up and make your immune system as strong as possible. And you can find that@the coronaviruschallenge.com okay, so that's the website. We can find out more information about how to defend against COVID 19. There are very simple things that you can do that if coronavirus behaves very similarly to colds or flus, you can actually reduce your chances of getting infection by between 50 to 80%. Right. And in the current situation in Europe, North America, Australia, where we are seeing cases rise, this is an important and great opportunity to get healthy to get strong. Because the things that we talk about in the MEND protocol, MEND stands for mind Exercise, Nighttime routine and Diet. The tools and techniques we're talking about also have been clinically shown to help us with a wide variety of chronic illnesses and also to support our overall health and fitness. So I'd really encourage you to take the coronavirus challenge. Now. If you do get COVID 19 or you know somebody who gets COVID 19, how do we prevent them from going on to having severe long term symptoms? Yeah, chronic post Covid syndrome. What's really important in our experience is when you have post COVID 19 or when you have COVID 19, so really make sure that you rest okay. We live in a culture and a society which is all about achievements, about not allowing yourself to show weakness or vulnerability. Oh, you've just got a cold. Oh, he's just messing about just at home. He should be in the office or she should be in the office. But actually with this condition, it's very important that if you do get diagnosed with it, that you spend time in self care and rest and only go back to work when you are fully fit, when you fully feel you're at your 100%. Because this is the kind of condition that could be an opportunistic infection where if somebody goes too quickly back to work or starts stressing out the system again, there could be chances of retriggering the illness or in fact, even if it's not re triggering the processes that we've talked about where the brain can then go into hyper alert. So it's very important that you basically indulge in that self care and make sure you get fully well. So that is just really making sure you rest. And there's lots of tools and techniques within the coronavirus challenge that can support you through that. And then as I said afterwards, if you go on to getting post Covid syndrome, then we have the Gupta program. And you can sign up for the Gupta program for lots of free videos, free resources, even a free meditation on the website. So you can go to guptaprogram.com and there you'll find lots more information. And as some of you know, the GUPS program is not just for post Covid syndrome, but it's for a wide variety of illnesses. So we've mentioned me, CFS and fibro, also chronic anxiety, pots, sibo, ibs, multiple chemical sensitivities, mold illness, all of those illnesses that the traditional medical profession find difficult to treat. We find the Gupta program highly effective for a lot of these conditions. And we'll be having more medical research coming out very shortly, hopefully later this year to prove and show the effectiveness of these types of treatments. And on our website until the 1st of October, we have got a 15% Covid discount because we will be starting a new webinar series on Monday 28th October. So if you sign up now before 1st October, then you can qualify to join us for our new webinar series, which are weekly webinars with myself as part of the program. We start on Monday 28th October. So what I'd love for you to do now is to share this video on your social media. You can share this on your Facebook, your Instagram, your whatever other means, your Twitter. And we really want to get this message out for those people out there who are suffering needlessly that it's been hidden and ignored by the mainstream. There are so many thousands of people who are suffering right now and if they can get access to this video and have that hope with some free resources to support them, that would be fantastic. So please do share this recovery program or certainly this Facebook Live on your social media and please do send your comments and your likes. I always like to see those.
