In this testimonial, Jane describes how the onset of tinnitus just before retirement triggered severe anxiety, insomnia, and panic attacks that escalated after she stopped working. She tried conventional approaches—including supplements, hypnosis, and cognitive‑behavioral therapy—without relief, leading to fragmented sleep of only 2–5 hours per night and constant nervous tension. After enrolling in the Gupta Program, she began practicing the “Soften and Flow” technique, which she credits as the turning point for learning to relax her body. Over time she reports sleeping 7–8 hours, quickly returning to sleep after awakenings, and experiencing a profound sense of calm. The newfound peace enables her to enjoy social activities such as weddings, book clubs, and eating sweets without the previous fear of panic or sleeplessness. Jane characterizes her current state as freedom and peace, noting that while her nervous system still needs time to fully adjust, she feels dramatically improved quality of life.

Hi, I'm Jane. I knew I was high-functioning all my life, and I really thought that that was just the way I was, and I just adapted and kept going. But just before retirement, I got tinnitus, and it really sort of made me quite anxious, and my focus was on this ringing in my ear 24/7. And so, yes, I was very distressed about that. And probably just after retirement, my anxiety started to escalate, probably because I wasn't working, so I had more time to think. And I developed more anxiety, insomnia, and I had panic attacks, which was a very new experience for me. It was quite frightening. And my anxiety was off the Richter scale. So I went and saw my doctor, and I went on all sorts of supplements. I tried hypnosis. I tried CBT, and really I was just going out of my mind because I was just escalating and nothing seemed to work for me. I couldn't find my peace. I couldn't find my calm. I would get quite anxious after I had a panic attack going to sleep, so I would be quite nervous about going to bed, and any noise would set me off, and consequently I wouldn't sleep very well. I would sleep probably. 2 to 5 hours a night if I was lucky, and that would be very broken sleep. So I started the program and I found the Soften and Flow the key for me to just relax into feeling my body for the very first time. And I'm still learning. I would say I would be about 80% there, but I'm still learning to soften and flow. Now I can sleep About 7 to 8 hours a night. I still may wake up, but I, I am so calm and I can go back to sleep quite easily. So that's a huge thing from when I couldn't and I would panic and get myself wound up. It's a wonderful, wonderful feeling. I would say my nervous system has been bracing for so long, of course it's going to take a longer time for me to change, but The peace I have now is pretty incredible. I went out to the wedding. I could drink. I could eat lots of sweets. And I'd come home happy and still be able to go to sleep. You know, I'd go out to book club and I would have stimulating conversations. And now I could go back home to bed and sleep well and just calm myself down. And Freedom is probably what I feel, freedom and peace, rather than constricting, trying to control my environment. It's, it's really opened it up and made me very happy.
