Join Me In The 10-Day January Meditation Challenge | Ashok Gupta | Gupta Program |

Ashok Gupta invites you to meditate for 10 minutes daily for 10 days. A Harvard study found that 20 minutes of meditation a day cut doctor visits in half. He compares the constant mental chatter to a car stuck in drive, and argues you have the time if you cut back on screens.

Hi there, guys. It's Ashok Gupta here from the Meaning of Life Experiment. I'm hoping you can join me for this year's January Meditation Challenge 2019, which basically involves meditating for 10 days, 10 minutes, 10 meditations, 10 days. And optionally, you can also meditate for 20 minutes a day. Now, why would we want to take this New Year's resolution? Well, meditation has been shown to have so many mental, physical and emotional benefits. For instance, a recent Harvard study showed that those people who meditated for at least 20 minutes a day, they halved the number of times that they saw a doctor. Can you imagine that if we found a pill that could halve the amount of times we use medical facilities, it would be the miracle drug of the 21st century. And yet it's available to us for free every day. Now, you're also probably wondering why I'm presenting to you in a car. You know, what is a car? A car is a tool. It has a functional benefit. And an analogy here is actually the car is a bit like the mind, alright? So the mind is a tool. It's not actually us. So just like we get into our car in the mornings, we go to work, we drop the kids off to school, and then we jump out of our car afterwards. The thing with the mind is we jump into our minds and become our minds. Then we identify so closely with our minds that we never actually jump out of our minds. Our minds are constantly busy. We're constantly revving the engine, as it were. And actually meditation is the act of actually stepping out of the car instead of being in the car all the time and revving the engine. And then sometimes being a passive passenger in life. The car just taking us where it wants to go, rushing around, using up all the energy. We make sure that we meditate for 10 to 20 minutes a day, step out of the car and experience that peace and relaxation. And when we do that, then we can really connect with more focus in life, more concentration, a better immune system. So many mental, physical and emotional benefits. It really is that wonder pill. And many people say to me, Ashok, you know, I don't have time to meditate. And then I'll see them on their phones. Cat video, dog video, motivational video, but not feeling motivated about it. Another cat video, another dog video. We waste so much time on social media and on our screens every day. A simple 20 minute investment in our mental and physical health is doable. It's like a mental shower for the mind every day. So once again, I'm really hoping you can join us for the January Meditation Challenge this year and to find out more information, you can download our free not for profit app by going to App Store or Play Store and downloading an app called the Meaning of Life Experiment. Or you can use all the exercises on our website, which is www.themeaningoflife.tv. and you can join thousands of others who are taking this experiment who are also taking the January Meditation Challenge all over the world. Please do share it with your friends and family and it's a great fun thing to do together. So I look forward to seeing you in our first meditation together. Thanks.
