Optimism on our journey, there may be up and down days, we may go through some dark tunnels, but we always can hang on to the optimism that we're always on the road to recovery. Our brains can be overstimulated, so we're more likely to feel anxious and depressed sometimes. But instead of getting carried away with that, we can observe these thoughts and let them go, realizing they're just temporary thoughts, a temporary effect of the brain being overstimulated. Instead, let's connect with that natural positivity within us. Letting go of perfectionism. We can sometimes think that the program will only work for us if we do it perfectly, or if we do every single bit of it, only then it's going to work. And then we tell ourselves off for not doing it properly. Now, of course, this is counterproductive. Instead, we can live by the motto, I do my best, leave the rest. So please do whatever you can manage without pushing yourself too hard, and please approach it in a happy go lucky way. Occasionally, some people become a bit more anxious as a result of using one particular tool, and that's perfectly understandable. After all, you're learning something new with that limited energy. If this happens, please just take a step back from that particular tool and see if there's a way that you can come back to it in a more calm, slow, relaxed way. Being flexible, we can adapt the tools to our own personal circumstances and find what works for us. Rather than thinking, the whole program has to be done in a rigid way. Floating through dips Here at the clinic, we don't use the word relapse. That's quite a heavy word. Instead, we call it a dip. When we're having a bad day, we can sometimes think the program isn't working for us and we're back to square one. But when a baby learns to walk, it May fall down many times, but it always gets back, back up again and keeps going. The retraining has had an effect. All we have to do is float through the dip, stay calm and relaxed and we'll get back to where we started before we had the dip. We can accept that it will be a journey of ups and downs and that's okay. Being calm and optimistic through the dips an important skill. Letting go of your doubts and just trusting. When we have this condition, we're going to have more negative thoughts than normal. And the nature of the mind is to doubt. You might doubt me, you might doubt the techniques we're going to go through, or you might doubt yourself. And all of that's okay and perfectly normal. We can just notice those thoughts as expected and let them go. Let's not read into them too much. We can let go and just trust in our ability to heal. Our commitment. Now, with any treatment, commitment is key and it's beneficial to let go of researching other theories and treatments and just focus on the Gupta program. And to help you with your six month commitment, please also ask your family, your friends, your loved ones to support you through the program. Let's get the self care that we need. This might involve some of your family members taking over some responsibilities from you whilst you spend more time using the tools in the program. And also I noticed that many people with a condition tend to be very conscientious, even quite achievement orientated. So let's take that powerful energy that you've already have inside you to get things done and let's direct it inwards to keep up the commitment to the tools. Self love. Now, I've noticed that many people with this condition are quite hard on themselves. They think they should be doing more in the day or aren't achieving enough in life. Let's become aware of these thoughts and instead let's recognize the power of self love and self acceptance.
Now, what is self love? Initially it means to deeply accept, appreciate and to be contented with who we are. Right now it is praising ourselves and acknowledging our great qualities and talents. Eventually this transforms into deep self love, which is one of the ultimate skills.
That we can possess.
We'll talk more about this in a later session.
