The Surprising Cause Of Your Illness: It Started Before Birth

Ashok Gupta explains a hypothesis that many illnesses originate from early-life or pre-birth conditioning of brain regions (notably the amygdala and insula), which become hypersensitive ('factory setting'). This hypersensitivity leads to hypervigilance and worry that perpetuate symptoms and overstimulate the immune and nervous systems. Gupta notes that diet, supplements, and various therapies help some people, but for others the conditioned sense of danger persists — hence his emphasis on brain retraining to teach the brain it is no longer in danger.
