Ashok Gupta explains that neuroplasticity means the brain can be rewired regardless of prenatal, childhood, or teenage experiences, trauma, or genetic predisposition. He frames upbringing and genes as a "factory setting" rather than destiny, and describes brain retraining as a multi-year, mind–body transformation that helps people get well and stay well.

This is the whole point of neuroplasticity. The whole point is that science tells us that no matter what experiences your mother had when you were in the womb, no matter what experiences you had in your early pre verbal years, no matter what trauma or PTSD you had in your childhood years, in your teenage years, the brain is rewirable. Never feel that you are stuck with what you had, or that your genes are your destiny, or that your upbringing is your destiny. No, it is just your factory setting, the starting point. You know, they. On your phone there's a, there'll be a little thing that says, or an electronic appliance that says factory setting. Reset to factory setting. You have your factory setting, but then you now rewire and build on that to create the environment in your brain that you choose. And I know for myself and many retrainers that I'm a completely different person now to whom I was before. And that's over, obviously, many, many years. But even with retraining, people say even after a number of months, they say, I feel like I'm a completely different person. I've learned so much about myself, I've trained my brain. I feel a lot calmer and I feel a lot more perspective on things because this isn't just a brain retraining program. This is a whole mind, body, experience. It's a transformation because that's how we come out of this. And this is also how we make sure we not only get well, but we stay well. So never feel that we are slaves to our background.
