How to Connect Your Domain with Cloudflare + DNS Setup in xCloud (New UI)

Connect a WordPress site on xCloud to a custom domain using Cloudflare for DNS and SSL. You'll need three Cloudflare credentials: an API token, global API key, and Origin CA key. The video shows how to generate each one, paste them into xCloud, then use the Go Live feature to activate HTTPS and make your site public.

In this video, I'm going to show you how to go live with a website on xCloud. We're looking here at a staging server. I've just created it, so it's, it's empty, but it is a WordPress site on it. And we're going to use Cloudflare for DNS and SSL. And part of what I'm going to show you is how to set up an integration between xCloud and Cloudflare so that it works super smoothly. The documentation for that integration is right here, and it's easy to follow. So if you want to read it yourself, you're welcome to do that. But the first thing we're going to do is set up that integration. In the admin panel, under Settings, Integrations, there's Cloudflare, and we don't have an integration yet, so I'm going to Add a new one and we can give it a name. You can give it any name you like and an account email. Now this needs to be the one that is your Cloudflare account, so they need to match. So then we need 3 API things. We need a token, a global key, and an origin CA key. Now I am logged into xCloud right here, and there you can see my domain name But the API information is not tied to this domain name. It's tied to your Cloudflare account because this is not an integration with this domain name but with your account as a whole. So in Cloudflare, under your profile on the left, you can see API tokens. And I already have a global key and an origin CA key. I didn't make those, that came with this account. But I don't have an API token yet. So I'm going to click Create Token, and I'm going to— for editing zone DNS, we need to use a template. And under Include Specific Zone, we're going to choose All Zones. Now, if you really want to get into it, you can do specific zones, but I recommend it all. So then we go to the bottom and we click Continue to Summary and Create a Token. And there it is. So we're going to copy that and go back to xCloud and paste that right in there. Next, I'm going to get the global API key, which is here, and it wants to send me an email to make sure that it's really me. And editor, I'm assuming you're going to hide this. I paste that right in there, and now I'm going to go get the CA key. That one as well, and then we paste that right in here. And then we click submit. And now it's attempting to connect to Cloudflare, and we are successful. So now we have an integration between xCloud and Cloudflare, and this is useful in a variety of ways. For today, it's just for setting up a domain name. So I'm going to go back to the server here, or the site. On the left under domain, there's a handy go live button, so we're going to click that. And right now it's in the demo environment, but we click Go Live. And then we have to put in our domain name. So there we are. And now, uh, right here, if you were not using Cloudflare, you could take this information and put an A record in wherever your DNS is. But we're going to choose Cloudflare. Now that's all set up. Your DNS is all set. So we're going to click Save and we're good. So over on the left under Go Live, I'm going to click SSL HTTPS and it's enabled. But there are 3 options here and I want to cover them, uh, in case you're not using Cloudflare. You could use a free SSL certificate issued and managed by xCloud, and that works great if you don't want to use Cloudflare. But then there's also this option to provide your own and manage it yourself. And SSL certificates are just text files, so you would paste in the certificate and the private key. But we're going to choose Cloudflare. And now this only works if you have the integration. If you're not integrated, you can't go to Cloudflare, create an SSL certificate, come back here and paste it in. Um, Cloudflare SSL certificates only work if there's an integration. So I'm going to click Save, and there it is, it's done. So now SSL is all set and the domain name is all set. Let's visit the site and see how it looks. And there we are, SSL is working and the domain name is working, and we have a vanilla WordPress site. So to review, the easiest way to set up, uh, to go live with a staging server and a domain name is to set up a Cloudflare integration and run it through Cloudflare, because then you don't actually have to manage DNS records or anything like that. You can just click the right buttons and it all works.
