One of the best things about living in San Francisco are all the great things that you can do outside of the city, just a short drive away, and I'm going to give you the top 3 day trips that you should plan if you're going to be visiting the city. First on the list has to be wine tasting. I personally prefer Napa to Sonoma, but you're not going to go wrong choosing either. Mainly I prefer Napa because I think the food is better, but there are great options in Sonoma. Sonoma's a little bit closer than Napa, but both are within an hour's drive of the city, so it's perfect for a day trip, or if you want to turn it into a long weekend, go for it. Number 2 on my list is Carmel. Without traffic, it will take you 2, 2.5 hours to get down there, there, so it's a little bit long for a day trip, but definitely doable. Carmel-by-the-Sea is the city's downtown area. It is super small. There are a ton of like really fun art galleries, amazing restaurants, and one of the best stretches of beaches in all of California. Number 3 on the list is Point Reyes. It's about 90 minutes north of San Francisco in Marin County, has an incredible seashore and some great hiking trails.
