Austin Klar breaks down a new proposal to redevelop the Sloat Garden Center in San Francisco's Outer Sunset. Two towers, 203 and 233 feet tall, would hold 446 apartments, over 40% affordable. The design by Solomon Cordwell Buens aims for "Miami vibes" to match the oceanfront location.

Remember that 50-story monstrosity in the Sunset that was being proposed that like didn't go anywhere? Well, another development group is taking a stab at redeveloping the Sloat Garden Center, and this time they're proposing a 22-story complex with over 400 units. And I gotta say, I don't hate these plans. San Francisco Housing Development Corporation and Housing America Partners have proposed a two-structure complex. One structure would be 203 feet tall, the other 233 feet tall. If approved in its current form, the project would yield over 413,000 square feet for housing, over 10,000 square feet of new retail, over 15,000 square feet for a 52-car parking garage. In total, 446 units are planned ranging from studios to 3 bedrooms, and over 40% of those would actually be affordable. Solomon Cordwell Buens is designing the project, and it's giving sort of Miami vibes, which I think could be perfect for that oceanfront area. We'll see if these plans go further than the last ones. Let me know what you think in the comments.
