Huge update in the redevelopment of Piers 30 and 32 in San Francisco. The Port of San Francisco just approved a lot split that will allow the developer Strada to build housing at the waterfront site on the seawall lot, separate and apart from the office complexes that are proposed at the site. If you don't already know, this is one of the most complex developments making its way through planning right now because of the waterfront location and complex infrastructure improvements needed at the site. Strada has very ambitious plans for the pier, including an Olympic-sized pool, new retail, new office space, and a ton of new housing. And all of it expected to cost well north of $1 billion. And instead of forcing them to pursue office plans in tandem with housing, the Planning Commission is allowing Strada to pursue just the housing piece, which will allow the creation of over 600 units at a multi-acre site along the Embarcadero. Strada is behind several big developments in SF right now, including a huge office development at 60 Spear Street and a big housing development at 88 Bluxom. They are clearly betting big on San Francisco like so many other major developers. Let me know what you think in the comments and follow me for more Bay Area real estate.
