Remember that monster development proposal for a 50-story skyscraper in the Outer Sunset? Well, those plans might officially be dead in the water. The developers recently filed for bankruptcy, and architects and attorneys who are working on the project are claimants against the company. The lender actually initiated foreclosure proceedings against the owners after they defaulted on their over $10 million loan against the property, but those procedures are basically on hold now that the company's filed for bankruptcy. We'll see if the owners are able to restructure their debt and ultimately continue with the project, or if it's gonna have to be sold to somebody completely new. There have been multiple iterations of proposals at the site ranging from a 22-story tower to a 50-story tower. I actually like the most recent renderings of the 22-story proposal. I think it'd be cool to have something that offers big open, you know, ocean views in that area. But the proposals were met with a ton of backlash from people in the neighborhood who were concerned about it altering too much of the character of the neighborhood, given that most of the surrounding buildings are just a couple stories tall. I'll definitely be watching progress and keep you posted, so follow me for more updates.
