A 40-year-old park in Dogpatch is getting a major makeover, and it's slated to open later this year. Esprit Park was initially built as a private corporate park in 1982, intended for use by workers at a nearby headquarters of a clothing company of the same name. The founders who built the park donated it to the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department in the early 2000s, and it hasn't been updated in about 20 years. The nearly 2-acre park is being segmented into 2 main areas, including one designated for off-leash dogs. The redwood forest surrounding the park will be spruced up. There's gonna be new native plants all over the place, They're also doing new custom seating and lighting throughout. Fletcher Studio is helming the redesign, and the total project costs are estimated to be north of $8 million, $5 million of which is coming directly from UCSF. Really excited for the new space, and I will definitely give you a tour when it opens, so follow me for more updates. [FOREIGN LANGUAGE]
