Renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright's largest public project is right here in Marin County in the city of San Rafael. Marin County's Board of Supervisors selected Frank Lloyd Wright to design the Civic Center in 1957, and even though there was a lot of controversy over the pick, it all worked out because the location went on to be designated as a state and national historic landmark. The main structure consists of a 4-story, 580-foot-long admin building and a 3-story, 880-foot-long Hall of Justice, joined with an 80-foot-wide rotunda. The interiors look more like an open-air mall than they do a government building, at least to me, and when it was originally opened, The interiors were completely open to the sky, it wasn't until later that they were enclosed in glass. The complex was used as a filming location for George Lucas's first feature-length film, THX 1138, in 1971, and was his inspiration for structures on Naboo in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Let me know what you think about the building in the comments. Hello, I am a robot.
