San Francisco is spending a ton of money to revitalize the hard-hit Union Square area, and their latest venture is pretty interesting. The city just signed a million-dollar contract with a company called Biedermann Redevelopment Ventures, a consulting firm that manages and programs places like Salesforce Park and Mission Rock, and their contract is to provide roughly 200 days of programming between Tuesdays and Sundays in Union Square. There aren't specifics on what events are gonna take place, but expect them to vary from things like arts and crafts to lunchtime performances and other all-ages activities. The whole point is to get more people to visit the 4 million square foot space in downtown San Francisco. The city's efforts to get people to visit the area have already proven successful. They've had 8 free concerts drawing over 20,000 people in 2024, and that's just one example. I'll definitely keep you posted on what events there are going to be as they're announced, so follow me for more updates.
