Chapters
This mall's value fell hundreds of millions of dollars, and we finally know what its future holds. The former Westfield and Emporium used to represent the pinnacle of retail, but once the pandemic hit and foot traffic and street conditions declined, all of that changed. The owners surrendered the mall to its lenders, and every single tenant left the mall or was evicted. The lenders officially took control last November and started marketing the mall for sale to someone who could usher it into its next phase. And we finally know who the new buyers are, Presidio Bay Ventures and Prado Group, each of whom have multiple ongoing projects in the city right now, and their plan is to apparently redevelop the mall into a mix of office space and retail. How it will look is far from determined, and there are still a few months of diligence left before it becomes officially official. But I'm really excited for the next chapter at this once great space. Let me know what you think in the comments and follow me for more San Francisco real estate
