It just got even more expensive to commute to San Francisco. As of July, tolls for crossing the Golden Gate Bridge are rising by 50 cents to as much as $10.75. And it's not just bridge tolls. Ferry tolls from Sausalito, Larkspur, and Tiburon are going up as well to $14. These fare increases were announced a while ago but are just now going into effect at the beginning of July. The Highway and Transportation District says that the fare increases are necessary to plug an over $200 million budget shortfall for maintenance and infrastructure improvements to our transit systems caused by reduce traffic across the bridge and ferries. Hopefully as the city comes back, the budget gap decreases. Let me know what you think in the comments and follow me for more San Francisco news.
