Treasure Island's $25 million marina at Clipper Cove got new life after SunTex, the nation's largest marina operator, partnered with the project developer. The 168-slip marina stalled for years but could break ground next year and finish around 2028 as part of the island's broader redevelopment into 8,000 homes and parks.

A naval base turned multi-billion dollar mixed-use community is getting a brand new marina in one of the best boating locations in San Francisco. Treasure Island, which is a man-made island created by the United States government about 90 years ago, is in the middle of a multi-billion dollar redevelopment that would see the creation of 8,000 new homes, new parks, and a lot more. And after 27 years of planning and permitting, a brand new marina is coming to Clipper Cove, which because of its location right in between Treasure Island and the neighboring Yerba Buena Island has some of the calmest and warmest waters available in San Francisco. The $25 million under undertaking will replace the existing marina with a brand new 168-slip facility. There will also be room for public docks and transient boats. The project, helmed by Kenwood Investments, was initially approved in 2019 for a 66-year lease, but because of financing and construction issues, has been delayed for years. But thanks to a recent partnership with SunTex, which is the largest marina operator in the country, these plans can start moving forward. Final approvals for the latest iteration of the project are expected later this year, and the hope is that construction can start next year and be done by sometime in 2028.
