Plans to bring a members-only private social club to downtown Mill Valley are no more. Last year, the founders of clothing company Marine Layer proposed to build a private club called Treehouse MV at an historic bank building in downtown Mill Valley. The idea was like a members-only restaurant, rooftop garden, and event space. But after significant pushback from locals and sky-high building costs way beyond what they initially projected for the project, they've scrapped their plans. The new plan is just to open a Marine Layer store there, as well as private offices for the company and an architecture firm that designs design the initial plans, as well as to have a private coworking space. The 1911 building is listed on the Mill Valley Historic Resources Inventory, and I'm excited to see how they preserve the historic details and blend it with a modern retail storefront.
