Austin Klar is opening Elsewhere, a wine bar in St. Helena led by the founder of Chicago's Michelin-starred Alinea and a former French Laundry sous chef. The bar will stock thousands of wines, some priced up to $500 a glass, with rotating global food pairings.
A brand new wine bar with Michelin-star pedigree is opening in Napa Valley, and I can't wait to check it out. The founder of Chicago's Alinea is taking over a Howard Bakken-designed former restaurant space in St. Helena to open a wine bar called Elsewhere, and he's partnering with a former French Laundry executive sous chef to helm operations and come up with the food program for the wine bar. Thousands of different wines will be available, some up to $500 a glass, but some much more reasonable and approachable, and expect rotating food items to go with different wines from all over the world.
