A monster new mixed-use community might be coming to Western Addition in San Francisco. What's been dubbed Freedom West 2.0 master plan will see the replacement of an existing neighborhood in Western Addition with nearly 2,300 apartments, 70,000 square feet of retail, and a 150-room hotel. And don't worry, there'll be enough parking for over 1,600 cars and 1,700 bikes. The development between Gough, Fulton, Laguna, and Golden Gate would replace an existing affordable housing community, but there would be replacement units for current residents. The development would occur across several phases, each with a mix of apartments commercial space. It's anticipated that the first phase would be done by 2029, the second phase by 2033, and the third phase by 2034. DLR is the architect group that is overseeing the design of what would be over 12 buildings if this full master plan came to fruition.
