San Francisco's only new hotel opening in 2023 is coming in September in the Financial District, hopefully a sign of great things to come to the area. After a major renovation, KHP Capital Partners is rebranding what was known as the Le Meridien Hotel on Battery Street as The J. The firm bought the property in 2021 for $221 million and is undergoing a massive renovation to the lobby, the gym, the conference rooms, and all 360 guest rooms, and there are going to be multiple new restaurants opening at the hotel. With no new hotels opening in the area and other hotels surrendering to their lenders, the hope is that The J will stand out as the most up-to-date and most modern hotel in the area, and hopefully kickstart a lot of renovation and bringing people back to that area alongside with what's going on at the Transamerica Tower.
