Another startup just signed a massive office lease in downtown San Francisco. The productivity startup Notion just signed a lease for 105,000 square feet at 685 Market Street. The company's upgrading to this over-century-old building from their 65,000 square feet of office space in the Mission District, which they've been subleasing since 2021, and they have an option to expand within the building. The space was last occupied by Uber, which has been trying to sublease it since 2019 when they started to prepare to move to their new headquarters in Mission Bay. Other tenants in the building include a Blue Stone Lane, two cocktail bars, there's an optometrist and a pizza spot. This is another string of massive office leases in downtown and near the waterfront in over the past year. This includes the nearly 1 million square feet of office space by OpenAI, over 300,000 by Anthropic, 200,000 by Scale AI, and a bunch of others. What do you think? Is this the start of an office comeback in San Francisco?
