San Francisco's getting its very own city-sponsored Oktoberfest, and it's gonna be the first open container entertainment zone party. As part of efforts to revitalize a struggling downtown, legislation was recently passed that allows bars to sell alcohol outside in designated entertainment zones. The first of these entertainment zone parties will be an Oktoberfest in front of staple bars on Front Street on September 20th, like Royal Exchange, Schroeder's, and Harrington's. There are plans for things like live music, a pretzel contest, beer chugging contest, And something that doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me, axe throwing. Maybe not the best idea when you're drinking a bunch outside, but I mean, it could be fun. Overall, sounds like it's gonna be awesome, and I'm excited to see how these events transform downtown.
