Chapters
There's been a $2 billion redevelopment project underway for the last 4 years at a now defunct PG&E power plant in San Francisco. And if this redevelopment actually gets built, it is going to be sick. And I'm gonna show you what it's gonna look like. So this is what the site currently looks like. It used to be the Petrelle Power Plant owned by PG&E. It was one of the nastiest power plants and it was decommissioned back in 2012. The developer has successfully rezoned the area from industrial use to mixed use, and the redevelopment contemplates over 2,600 residential units and 1.8 million square feet of commercial space. The old power stack is going to remain a centerpiece of the new development, but surrounding it are gonna be open green spaces, office, commercial, retail, a hotel, and a ton of different residential buildings and restaurants. Infrastructure work is set to begin soon to bring power, water, plumbing, telecommunications to the site, all to what's supposed to be an all-electric neighborhood. Now, it's gonna be years until the site is open to the public, but at least based on the renderings, it looks like it's gonna be well worth the wait. Let me know what you think about the new development in the comments.
